  1. Hi anyone tried to buy items from Trooperbay lately? I'm having some weird problems with the site. Items don't seem to show up in shopping cart (tried with both multiple and single items). Cannot "contact" webadmin either - keeps telling me I get the number question wrong. Even though I'm pretty sure 3+4=7....
  2. Yeah I deep down I want to be the "bad guys" and the TK's bursting through in the first Act of ANH was just etched into my memory as a kid so to me they are all kinds of cool.
  3. I ordered a doopy-doo E-11 kit so that should keep me occupied for a while! Reading up on those now.
  4. She "sorta" started on the Dark SIde and wanted to be a bounty hunter - particulary Boushh but after some research that kit is just pretty darn hard to get together without either a lot of money to spend or knowing how to sew well. The helmet alone is probably $400-500. So she went with her next favourite thing ... a rebel pilot - which I have to admit is pretty cool seeing as how you get to paint your own helmet and unless you're going canon with a particular pilot. Which she isn't - tiny asian female pilot in ANH. Yup pretty much non-existant. So she gets to be whatever she wants. I will turn her though eventually... maybe TIE pilot. Hmm.
  5. I have to check out these other brands but I typically use UA for workouts etc. and I feel pretty comfortable using them because I know what I'm getting. Still, I will keep my mind open.
  6. Hmm those pictures are exactly the ones I've seen for $39+ ... is there a tag or some kind of labelling on the gloves to indicate where they are made/from? Because I was thinking of shelling out for (visually according to those pictures) the exact same gloves but now I'm a little hesitant. I was looking at these. --------
  7. I imagine the stunt is a little easier for trooping due to the flat lenses vs. bubble lenses of the hero. But I will let the veterans here comment on that (my opinion is pure theory). Other than that from my research, I find it is mostly personal choice. I went with stunt myself because it seemed like a good place to start. Hero kits are available to mod a stunt after the fact so I don't think you're stuck with one or the other anyways.
  8. LOL Mark, it's okay at GenCon we can parade her around as a rebel captive. We do have binders right?
  9. With great shame it turns out my sister is now working with the Rebel Legion to build her a X-Wing pilot kit in order to join the Rebel Alliance and topple the Empire! We are a proud Imperial family, alas being the black sheep that she is - she's now working with the enemy! Just kidding sis! After watching my excitement about my Stormtrooper kit, she's super into costuming now. She wanted to be Boushh but that kit is way too expensive and advanced of a build for her right now. So she's starting with something a little easier and looking to be one of the rare female X-Wing pilots. I'm pretty happy that the two of us can now giggle like school kids when a piece of our kit comes in.
  10. I know there's a lot to learn! I'm not sure how much time I will have till when I need it done by (August). I need to think of a strategy...
  11. Yeah totally have - in fact it's the one I will prob go with. 20 odd Euros + S/H is about $30+ CDN. I know it's not much in the grand scheme of things (probably $2k once this is all done) but in my mind it's still a bit given how much I've spent so far already. Maybe next month! In general it's okay though. I'm getting over sticker shock (like I'm sure most newbies go through) - but as an indie publisher on the side working with a variety of artists, colorists, writers etc. I also recognize that a lot (time, expertise and money) goes into making these fantastic items we all enjoy. I certainly am no expert in sewing, molding, etc. so more power to the people that support us and dedicate their time to making all our dreams come true.
  12. Here's something I learnt. Once I found the "correct" volume on the Aker. I painted a white line on the volume knob. That way I know how to be consistent (white line matching a white circle) with the volume everytime I turned it on.
  13. I think I'm losing my mind ... I have all this stuff I need to get but I'm trying to discipline myself by waiting till next month in order to "go easy" on my finances. ... SO HARD!
  14. Yup I got some chemical gloves and plan to get the latex hand guards as well. But I can imagine that rubber gloves are somewhat annoying on a troop and are really more for show aka. getting EIB status. In reality, I would probably wear something more comfy (unless the troop requires accuracy).
  15. I've been practising my pop n' lock does that count?
  16. Definitely latex at some point in the near future. This is ironic but slightly turned off with the price point on the latex hand guards. But it is what it is I suppose. I'll probably grab them off Trooperbay is my guess.
  17. Hi all before I shell out for some gloves (mainly for trooping vs. accuracy ie. rubber gloves, which I intend to get a pair of as well) are these the gloves everyone's talking about?------------
  18. Maybe I should spend time with my 5 month old instead of being on forums or shopping online. Ha! Actually he's totally part of the experience. Everytime I get a new bit (like my boots last week), I put it on him! (I have pics!) But yeah I've picked up a ton of stuff already (see my Am I done shopping list?) ... the wait is just brutal. Doesn't feel like we all spend a lot of time waiting in life? Traffic lights, line-ups, post office, ... grrr... I know I must be patient.
  19. I think I'll work on an E-11 in the meantime, at least I got a ton of time to get that right.
  20. I'm about 2 weeks into my obligatory "armor wait" with quite a while to go ... anyone want to share some stories of how they passed their time till their first kit arrived? 1. Read every AP and non-AP build possible. 2. Read most EIB submissions 3. Made a list and bought a whole lot of random stuff to go for EIB 4. Played SWTOR (gosh there's no good games out there ...) 5. Watched Episode IV to VI ... twice 6. ??? I was going to hold out on making my E-11 till next month but at this point I don't know if I handle waiting another week without making some sort of "progress" ... gah! Might have to spring for it soon. How did y'all pass the time?
  21. Yuppers - tools and more tools. I think my wife must think that I'm starting to get "handy" at home. Little does she know...
  22. Hi - this is just my own personal experience. I'm usually a 10. I ordered a 9 and I could stand to have ordered an 8 probably. But to be honest, an 8 while "fitting" better may not be as comfy as the 9's I have now with nice gel in-soles. I guess what I'm sayng and from what I've seen on the forums, 1 size smaller is pretty much what you should get (but will still be a little big).
