  1. ok so i know it took about forever minus a day... but my time has FINALLY came my suit is AM boot are TKboots belt is TKittle guns is a scratch build helmet is an RTmod and... mannequin goes by the name Eric. lol... ok so to start with the pics.... front back sides who the... REBELS!!! my ugly mug just in case... the "D" ring and my vision doesnt see green so i modified my helmet to help with that well i hope that's all the shots i need. my buddy takes forever to take a shot that isn't blurry. lol. so if i need more pics, it'll be about 3 days per pic needed. this is the reason why it took so long to get these pics up. haha. thanks for looking oh and yes their free floating... forgot to take a close up while suited up, so i hope this works
  2. thanks man. good luck with the build if you do it. i'll be there late friday and suited up saturday. if you see me friday, you'll know it's me by my ghost-busters over shirt. haha
  3. yeah, i was careful with the magnets and never let them close for too long. i've got a few stash spots for different things, but none are very accessible. figured a quick reach into the thigh would be a better spot than my others as far as ease of reach. and i'm not too much into having a pouch on my belt. no real reason... i just only can see sandies with pouches and i think they'd look odd on me.
  4. i often find myself wanting a camera at times while suited up, and never have anywhere to put it... i'll be going to All-Con this weekend and i'll be on a cruise afterwards, something tells me i'll be wanting my camera while suited up. so i thought i'd fabricate a holster for it in my armor and the thigh was the best place that i could think of. thought that maybe some other troopers might have similar scenarios, so i figured i'd post a build thread on how i did it. hope it helps or maybe just seems cool or w/e. lol i figured that it'd need to have some support type framing to keep it away from the wall of the thigh when the camera isn't in it, so i made small shims and curved their ends. plus i thought a curved tab for the top to help guide the camera in place would come in handy. the tab i had to bend lengthwise so i made that bend before cutting it. the sides got scared but that's fine since their getting cut off. i didnt have a heat gun so i used a lighter. worked rather well when done right. a general lay out to give you an idea where i'm going with this... the camera is that red thing with the FISD sticker on it... here's what it looks like when open... anyways. moving on. i glued the elastic bands together and drew where i'd glue it to the armor. i marked lines for where i'd apply the glue. chose elastic so it'd give a little while i'm accessing the camera and put the soft velcro bits on there because it's a touch screen and thought it'd be a good idea. the plastic pieces i sandwiched between the elastic so they would be held better... then the gluing aftermath once assembled... then i had to rip out some of my foam padding so i could get it in place... and glue it down. wrapped the camera in plastic wrap in case any stray glue got to it. lol. the long annoying wait for everything to dry.... and then the completed product... theres a spot to the left of the camera on the top strap where i missed the gluing, but it just gives a little extra slack and doesnt negatively effect anything, but still came out great i think. there's a dark spot on my elastic.. darned magnets. lol. anyways. it's easy to access, yet i can carry it without people being able to see it less they knew where it's at and tried. lol.... hope you enjoyed the pics... i know there's a bunch, but i thought the more the better, in case someone builds it and wanted good step by step
  5. ok i have to ask (dumb question alert ) what does it mean by 1mm? i've seen similar type descriptions, but have never understood. lol.
  6. depending on how your setup is, it'd be big enough. i got the stanley one from home depot. it's almost big enough for two actually. lol.
  7. so this might be a dumb question but what happened to the ears?
  8. i've seen the cartoon that it's from. it's not a stormtrooper (obviously) lol. but i dont think its all too old. either way, i have to laugh at the "it has been used and played with but i have not seen another one on ebay so i have decided to take a leap and put it out here" haha. as if that detail makes it suddenly priceless. same time... if i spent that much for a lousy helmet that might have cost 30 bucks... shipping better darn well be free.
  9. that weathering job is beyond fantastic terry. but with you, i'd expect no less than awesome
  10. i don't ship things too often, but one thing i always laugh about with USPS is that everything is called first class mail.... or you can pay extra for "faster shipping" lol. shouldn't the faster mail be first class and everything else just be w/e else they want to call it? like flying somewhere, there's your general seating (coach) and then for more comfort and the extra bucks there's first class... that makes since. USPS is just weird.
  11. sadly this week i'll be busy and once my TD arrives, i'll be out of country for a week... but in two weeks i'll be applying can't wait
  12. --------------- good eye. i never noticed that before. flat lenses (stunt) with 3 teeth (hero) all in one helmet. next time i watch, i'll have to look at their frowns a lil closer.
  13. the brad and two exposed snaps for the crotch strap. small detail, but i think it'd go along with the exposed right side snap... and i dont think a decal would really be the same... but that's just me... on the question about if the boots should be scuffed, i dont think scuffed should be a requirement. and on the one about rivets on the lower leg. i want to say no. otherwise i have no real thoughts for or against the other things asked... looks pretty reasonable to me.
  14. truer words have never been said. sometimes it might only be just a small minuet detail too. lol
  15. -------------- at least he didn't go off of this one and leave out the holster
  16. beautiful blaster. job well done
  17. i personally havent had issues with scratching my lenses yet actually. lol. and the only way to secure it that i know of is to over lap it. i'll try and take a pic of where it's over lapped if you'd like so you'll know what i mean (if you dont) but mine generally stays in tact. the only reason why i was thinking about gluing it in place is because i'm afraid if i jostle it just right, it might slip free... that'd be terrible if im out and about when that happens. lol.
  18. lol. it happens. i think the over lap is a lil wide. though it might be just fine, i dont think i can be of much help. best i can think of is making the over lap skinnier in the front, making up the difference in the back. i think the strips are only supposed to be 22mm (possibly wrong there though) but i'd wait until one of the experts chime in before making any definite decisions. sorry i can't be of much help
  19. well though you'll naturally get some who'll say cover strip and some that'll say their not too important. a good judged opinion on this matter might require a pic to know what we're working with i know putting mine together, it took a lil while to get them just right to look good. patience comes in handy. lol. but do post a pic or two of them, and that'll help
  20. ok so i couldn't think of a good way to put my lenses in with structural security, so i decided to make a lens out of clear acrylic glass/plastic (not too sure ) anyone who's seen the lenses in the RTmod helmet will know where this idea came from. basically making the same thing that comes with it but clear with lens material taped to it. i got some of Karins great lens sheets and used one of them for this. their great. http://forum.whitear...=1 anyways, i forgot to take all the pics that'd normally go with this, but you get the idea. first draw out the shape and once you like it, just go to town with a dremel. then naturally cut the lens to fit after your done shaping the clear lens, drill holes (if needed) then pull off the protective coat shiny n purdy right? this is where i forgot to take a pic before i installed it, but simply put, just tape the two lenses together. i used the black thing that RTmod uses to cover/protect the edges btw... the silver things you partially see are my fans, i have a spare set of batteries taped to the inside of my helmet... just seemed like a good idea. anyways, back to the project. lol then naturally gatta make sure you can see through it well, so i figured a test drive would suffice.... naturally, i'm just kidding... i took this pic while driving with my OLD lenses. hahaha well i hope you liked my little project. unfortunately the holes i drilled were in the wrong place... i used the lens that came with the helmet as a template and seemingly enough the lens i used in all of this doesnt flex the same... but oh well. it stays snuggly in place luckily enough. i'll probably use some hot glue on the sides. **insert cool ending statement here**
  21. i heard something about beuller... my best friends sisters boyfriend brothers girlfried heard from this guy who knows this kids whos going with this girl who said they saw Farris pass out at 31 flavors last night. i guess it's pretty serious. sorry, i can't help you on this topic. hopefully one of the guys will check the thread and help you... offer cookies, that's all i do. seems to work. people come running from all directions.... they dont help much, but the cookies go away.... either way though, it should help get some attention this direction. lol. best of luck to ya man
