  1. Here is a little diagram that should help you with you shins. I will be adding it to the AM style tutorial...
  2. MTK lid is basically the same size as ATA (same lineage). I think you are going to be wasting your money to purchase it. Trading an apple for and an apple, not an apple for and cantaloupe, or for a pineapple. ---------- You might want to look into RT-Mod. RT-Mod is a little bigger, but it is a 5 piece (Faceplate, Cap, Back/bell, and two ears) were as the ATA and MTK are 4 piece kits (Faceplate, Cap/back, and two Ears). Or, try the trimming the neck area like I said before. Just my 2 cents. ---------
  3. You could trim the chin area of the neck line. And maybe a little around the back edge of the neck. This way you will open the neck area up. do a little at a time til you get it where you feel comfortable. EFX PCR Lid is one way to go.. Their TK lid can be put on without turning your head or the lid... Also, SDS/AA lids neck openings are wide that you can put it on without turning your head or turning the lid...If you can get someone in the UK to ship a Battle spec kit, that could be one way to go. The SDS/AA lid done look better than the EFX. IMHO, try trimming the front and back of the neck area of your ATA LID first.. Note: If you have already cut the rubber gasket to the neck area, then you will need to purchase a replacement gasket (because of the larger neck opening). This way you will have a better looking lid and it should be able to be put on without turn it or your head. If you do the mod to the ATA all you will need is the new Gasket.
  4. I would not use Bleach (very toxic when mixed with plastic and foam)... I used Tea and get the old look with the foam.. ----------
  5. Also the Blu ray SW saga set has Lukes main TK torso.. Here is some pix of it: Video:
  6. Here is a link with pix from the archives: --------
  7. Since they are second hand, the previous owner more than likely trimmed them to them body type and did not add back the return edge. Here is a link from making return edges. ---------- As for the return edge on the top part of the shins, you may have to leave them alone....But, if you look at the original screen used suits, some of the shins had very little return edge to them. Original TK shins in the LFL archives:
  8. I just want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas!!! And for the ones that don't celebrate the reason for the season, I want to wish them Happy Holiday too!!
  9. The pix are of AM
  10. Did you buy them used? The AM shins and Thighs have a return edge.
  11. The look of them is off... to quote an old Eastwood spaghetti western title: "For a few dollars more" you can get a nicer part of boots (TKboots) Ebay "Brand New Custom Star Wars Stormtrooper Sandtrooper Boots Mens Size 43" BIN $44.99 +S&H TKboots 54.00+S&H A difference of $9.01... And you may look at 9 dollars as a savings, but in the long run you will be happier with the TKboots brand instead.
  12. I am happy that you agree, but that should probably go to a vote. Maybe after the new year.
  13. For basic requirements, you can have pretty much any type of E11 based weapon. But, as you go up to EI you will have to either go with an ESB based style or ROTJ. If you go to Centurion level, you will need to look into having an ROTJ based with folding stock in the extended position.
  14. Sorry that I am late for the party. No, this is not an error/typo about the holster. The TKC is somewhat a hodgepodge of ANH and ROTJ armor. In the video game references there is no holster at all. But, there was some discussion to allow a holster for convenience of trooping. The only real references in this matter shows the holster to be on the left hand side (ANH version) (please see pix below). Then, since the majority of the detailing to the front of the belt is ANH and the only references for the holster is ANH, that is why when I was cleaning up and fixing the CRL's, I did this to the TKC. Plus, it being on the left hand side makes it easier to holster your weapon. In the future, the Centurion may end up saying: holster is not allowed. I know that all other paint schemes have been discredited that is why we are running with the video game reference for the TKC. Since there is no reference in the video game of a TKC with a holster, that is why the only reference we have would be the Sideshow and the Hasbro and not just assume that the holster would be mounted like the ROTJ.. I hope this sheds some light on why the holster was made to be an ANH and not ROTJ.
  15. I used the hobby Iron on my right bicep (see pix below) I just heated the "thumbprint" up and made it contour back to more of a flat state, then sanded (wet or dry sandpaper) and used Novas plastic polish. But a few months ago, I did the same thing with a heat gun to one of my Garrison mate's ATA right bicep. I think that it turned out great. I will try to get some pix for him to show how it turned out... note the heat gun method is a little tricky, but I did not have to sand at all...
  16. I have seen that pic and for some reason I think that was from ESB.
  17. @ Paul, so you are saying that John Mollo is wrong??? His interview was taken back from 1976, which means that it would have been fresh at the time of filming ANH or I should say "Star Wars" and not something 20 or 30 years down the road...
  18. John Mollo stated in an old interview for ANH: "We had a black all-in-one leotard for the Stormtroopers" I put this info in the Reception Center under the undersuit part when I was updating it...... but it was somehow lost when we transferred it over from Joomla.... I will have to fix that.....
  19. Yesterday I was going over to help a buddy of mine with his armor build.. Little did I know that we would be getting to meet the legendary comedian and actor Dan Aykroyd........... Mr. Aykroyd is doing a tour to promote his Crystal Head Vodka and was in Charlotte NC 10-21-11 at a liquor store. http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_la7qqlCfyu1qcr7fqo1_500.gif http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lmg4t59VZQ1qzekdio1_500.gif This past Thursday night, a local theater, was having a special showing of Ghostbusters, which I saw. Ironically, the very next day as we were preparing to work on drudajedi's armor, we got a call from a buddy of ours, who is an extreme Ghostbuster fan and had just gotten the news that Dan Aykroyd was in town. Our buddy was so excited and nervous that his first 'phone call was "Aykroyd,,,, Charlotte,,,, come now!" The the 'phone went dead.... We called him back to calm him down and to find out what was going on. He was still acting like he was about to have a seizure and told us that Dan Aykroyd was in town for only a few hours to promote his vodka line. I am a big Ghostbusters fan, but not on the same level that my buddy Alex is. It took us about 15 to 20 minutes to get to Alex's house. When we got there, he had his Ghostbusters jump suit on and had loaded up most of his GB memorabilia, from posters to action figures and had his vehicle running with it already in reverse, ready to back out of his drive. He was half way out of his townhouse complex before we could get out doors closed and our seat belts on. We kept asking him, where is Dan Aykroyd going to be? All Alex could say as he was speeding down the highway doing 90 mph was "downtown Charlotte". Charlotte is not a Chicago or New York City, but it is still not a one horse town. As we got closer to the liquor store where Dan was signing, Alex saw the line of people waiting to meet Dan and became panic stricken and was about to jump out of the vehicle to get in line, while leaving myself and Drew in the moving vehicle. Note: to anyone that is going with a frantic fan who wants to meet their favorite superstar, make sure that you don't let THEM drive!! To make a long story even longer, there were over 400 people there to meet Dan. If you bought one of his bottles of vodka, he was signing them. The autograph was free, but prices of the bottles of vodka ranged from$50 for a fifth, $60 for a liter and $100 for a half gallon and that is actual retail price of his vodka, no mark up. If you bought a case (6 bottles), you would receive his father's (Peter) book, "A History of Ghost". A little trivia note; Bill Murrays character in Ghostbusters was called Peter, in honor of Dan Aykroyd's father and was originally supposed to be played by John Belushi. I didn't think too many people were going to buy the cases since they cost $300 per case for fifths and $360 for a case of liters. But, there were quite a number of people walking out of there with multiple cases. To make a long story even longer, I was totally unprepared, left my cellphone in my vehicle and Drew did the same, so Alex is the only one with the pix, so I will try to post pix later when I can get up with Alex. However, I looked on the net at local news sites and found this pic. I am in the first pic in the local article.. well part of me anyway. (I'm the guy on the left, in the grey tee and jeans beside my two friends, Drew is in the middle (Darth Vader hoodie) and Alex is the one in the GB jump suit and Slimer backpack. I felt kind of weird, because I had on my "I work in the Yard and on my vehicle and don't care what it looks" Tee shirt. The other funny thing is that a couple of winos, who wanted to purchase there fifth of "Night Train" asked what the hold up was to get into the liquor store and were we all going to wait in line. We pointed them toward the door where people that were not wanting to meet Akyroyd could go into the store. Here is his promo video for the Vodka:
  20. The ab plate detail is molded in the ROTJ style (the details are not glued, but molded) but the handplates are ANH, and the lid is detailed in the ANH style (note the teeth only have 3 cut out on the left side and 4 on the right) and it has the button cover like you would find on the ANH and ESB TKs... what a hodgepodge.... Over looking all that...The thing to point out, is that your are looking at someone suit of armor that was made/built to fit them and you may have to do a LOT of modding to get to fit you correctly. If you were thinking about bidding or doing the "BIN",don't... the best thing is to take the money and put it down on a new kit and start clean.... You will be happier in the long run... Plus it looks like the right thigh ammo knee belt is missing.......
  21. First of all, to Matt: I truly am sorry for your loss, and anyone that knew Allen. Unfortunately, I have not been on the Legion side in a little while, and I did not know Allen, but I understand that he is obviously someone who was close to you. I truly wish that you had brought this to someone's attention, or taken it upon yourself to start a memorial thread. It is also unfortunate that his passing has resulted in the formation of this negative thread. So, I respectfully ask everyone to drop this negative thread and please go to the link below. Possibly this will help with the grieving process. I hope in the future that if anyone is aware of the loss of any FISD member or Legion member, that they will bring it to light so others will be aware of the loss, also. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=17203
  22. Not to start anything, but a congrats or a birthday wish thread can come from anyone (eg. your friends). This type of thread does not have to always be started by the staff...
  23. Congrats Steve on your 1000th post, Thanks for being asset to the Forum... Take a look at this link: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=17199&hl=&fromsearch=1 I know that is a little late, but better late then never....
