  1. Hi Tarkan, and thanks for your submission! One of us will be with you shortly, sir. While you wait, we need a favor.. As per the CRL for EI, Any gap between the abdomen and kidney armor is no more than 1/2" (12.5mm) wide It will be a bit of a pain, but we need you to suit up and take some new pics (both sides) with your belt tightened a bit to close that gap some. It doesn't have to be EXACTLY half an inch (or less) so no need for a ruler, lol. THANKS!

NEW Detachment Leader Merchandise Hall of Fame Just For Laughs Update Your Build Threads Around the Detachment Competition INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS Common FISD Acronyms and TK Glossary Pre Approval Forum 3D Section Field Exercise Award Imperial Attaché Program Fire Teams EIB & Centurion: What do these terms mean? Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Greetings Troopers, we have another info packed newsletter for you again this month, I hope you find something interesting or new. I'd like to start by thanking gmrhodes13 (Glen) for the effort he continually puts into updating the content and keeping our newsletters fresh, packed with detachment info, and a good read for everyone. Let's get down to business. Yep it's November and we have a lot of exciting stuff to get through as holiday season approaches. It's been a busy year thus far and it's not about to stop with several plans we need to drive into action to have time up our sleeves before Chinese new year, Feb elections and Celebration in May. justjoseph63 (Joseph) has launched a design competition for the official FISD Celebration 2022 patch. If you are feeling creative, please post your designs in the thread as soon as possible. Full details further on in this edition. The Legion merch team have also announced they will start approving celebration merch as of 1st Dec so the quicker we can get something together the sooner we can seek approval and get the run going. We always offer up free merch to the winner and of course kudos, and some great bragging rights. We want more merch I hear you say!! The FISD detachment shirt run will kick off things going to plan in early January. If we want shirts in troopers hands before May we need to strike, but before we can get there, a couple of things need to fall in place. 1. Design. Due to time restraints we have a small window to decide on our standard design as per the last run, or a design that includes something about our 15th anniversary. 2. We need a volunteer to helm the run. If we can hit those marks early, we can get the shirt approved before December is out, and indeed get the shirt run underway on time in early Jan. Are you ready to step up to the plate and help your fellow troopers? Other projects. Tri fold brochures are on the agenda, and the timing is right. We are bringing the famous FISD Tri fold back with a thread currently open in the forums and designs being discussed and samples posted. The originals were done back in 2012 so an update is certainly due, specially with more and more troops and conventions firing up, these brochures are an awesome tool for recruiting and bringing new people onto the forums and into our garrisons. If you would like to join the conversation, you can find it Here in the 501st members section here FISD special anniversary project. Not the official announcement quite yet, but we are moving closer to the reveal. There are still a couple of hops to jump through, but I really hope to have something for you all very soon. In the mean time we thank you for your patience. 3. Hey Guys! TK19984 of the UKG here. Been pointed in this direction as I am looking to improve my ANH: Stunt TK to hopefully EIB and then Centurion Standard. Hopefully speak to you all properly soon

  4. Paint time! We purchased Speedokote High Gloss Jet Black for our basecoat, applied using a touch-up airbrush, which is perfect for painting 5-6 parts, applying two coats. We seemed to get the best results on the smaller pieces - husband usually paints small minifigs, these are his first large parts. That said, we got great quality on these knees (cured 48 hours) Others, like the cod piece, had a bit of orange peeling, which will be sanded down and try again with a more medium-wet application The shoulder bells turned out quite well, I think We used an uncomplicated method of using stirring sticks for both holding parts, and hanging to dry Here's the whole set of initial spray, we've got some work to do on the Thermal Detonator still so i'll cover that one separately.

  5. It wasn't to support this particular maker it was to show the mold and vacforming process which is the interesting part

  6. Here's the fitment with the ear/mic packet in place. It's flush! I still can't believe it all fits well. This is how the foam compacted after a day or two. Not bad at all. For test fitting the headphones, I just put some velcro over my screws and popped the headphones in place. It worked but that didn't seem like a great mounting solution forever. Or even for a day. I wanted to do a more solid foundation for the headphones, so I made boxes to go over the ear screws. This is a pre-finished version of the ear box. A passage for the mic wire and space for the three screws and nuts. I made it as tall as my tallest ear screws... ... which meant shortening my extra long ear screws to be about the same height and shorter than before by a thickness of spare armor plastic. Shortening the screws is why I had the ears off again for the photos above. And here's an ear box in place. The layers of plastic were E6000'd together and they sat for a day. The next day I cleaned them up and evened out the edges. Then I did repeated test fittings while grinding down the edges to match the radius of the helmet around the ears for as flush a fit as possible.

  10. I guess you're referring to the com link and grappling hook. Take a look at the hero crl and you'll see these listed in the optional section at the bottom https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_hero I've not trooped with anyone yet that's been wearing these, and would be fab to see them in public.

  11. There is a forum limit to the amount of images a person can post, understandably with the thousands of members here we'd need our own server just for images. Most of us use a free online image host Imgur and copy the links to our threads, here is a great tutorial

  12. Immediately after receiving the status of TK, I was given the opportunity to participate in quite a large event for my first ever troop. I'm happy to report it went very well and I fit right in with my other TK brothers and sisters. I actually have several more troops lined up over the next month and I am very excited to participate in the full force of the legion. Long live the empire!

  13. I also find if you offset the snaps on the shoulder straps more towards the front it helps to rotate the shoulder inwards when moving the arms around. Double snaps have helped me on more than one occasion to keep on trooping
    1 point
  14. Really glad to see that you went with the "double snap" method, Steve. Pretty much guarantees that nothing will ever come apart during a troop! Since the black nylon straps that hold the shoulder bells to the shoulder bridge elastic are normally 1" wide, you can still use the double snap method on these as well. Just be sure to put a piece of elastic under the snaps on the white elastic for some added strength (blue arrow). Paint the tops white and you are in business!

  15. One of the reasons I chose ESB was it was unique. So many of my garrison brothers and sisters are ANH so wanted to be different. Most of the general public dont know the subtle differences as you are just a stormtrooper to them. I did a VIP event late last year and all they wanted was stormtroopers, it didnt matter what type you were. I think in total there is about 4 ESB variants in NZ. We now have an ESB Vader in our garrison so its extra cool when I troop along side him as the only ESB in my region. Good luck with your build
