  1. Yes, Aiden and I have already been in contact, and Aiden is now part of our Garrison's FB page for future members who are building costumes. FISD is THE resource for builds, but we are hoping a local FOTK will step up for specific assistance.

  2. So I'm starting this build thread already in the race to completion. Mistakes have been made and you get to watch me blunder along. I have some pics. I've never really done this whole forum thing so this should be exciting.

  3. Great stuff, thank you! Some of this needs to be pinned into a reference! The one on doing the butt joints is one of the few posts I didn't find useful. My plan will be to do the outer cover strip only with tape on the inside. If there is an issue, adding the inner cover strip will be easy enough later.

  4. Hi Steven, in my experience, I use only the outer cover strips with no problems at all. And if you are using E6000, a bit of glue on your magnets/clamps wouldn't stick them even with 24 hours drying time. you can easy take them off just pulling. This is what I usually do to glue the forearms cover strips, and when it dries, you feel like the wood pieces , or magnets when I use them, sre stuck, but just pull it them out and clean the excess of glue by rubbing with the thumb. One tip is to place painter's tape in the inner side , like it was an inner cover strip to keep the pieces together and to avoid the glue to spread inside.

  5. Not too bad on the paint, Cory. Using a small "filbert" style brush will allow you to sharpen up the edges. As for the return edges, the link David posted will go into more details. Some folks like em', and you certainly won't get dinged at any level of approval, but with some exceptions they weren't really present in most areas of screen used armor. One thing you want to be careful with (return edges or not) is sharp corners. Always do a slightly rounded corner as seen in the first photo. If you make a sharp corner, that is where you can will get splitting eventually. This is also important on the posterior (butt) plate corners. When cutting out the buttons/button plates, I highly suggest referring to the diagrams below. Leave a bit (1/8 to 1/4 ") around the large plate and don't round-out the corners. All of the return edge should be removed from the button covers/small 4 button plate. Hope this helps! Shown right side up Examples of screen used armor

  7. I used these tiny sponge tips from testors to paint my buttons on my Walt's ab buttons. If your still having trouble, might wanna give these a try. With these I kinda just drew them on. Also, I had the habit of not mixing my paints very well before use. Really mixing the paint for a few minutes really helps with getting a nice coat. Sent from my SM-N970U using Tapatalk

  8. Helmet reassembled with the new liner. Missing screw replaced. Wasn't the same exact 1/4" size and not brass. But it works. Can't find that original screw anywhere. Dabbed the screw finish white on the outer helmet. Installed the acetate lens and installed a second nut to prevent it from happening again if I ever need to remove the lens. We'll see how this works out.

  9. I also do the painters tape on the inside seam to hold it together while doing cover strip.

  10. So I have a question regarding the Thermal Detonator. On the CRL is says that a seam is allowed, which implies that seamless, which I worked hard at doing so hahaha, is also allowed. Also, in the crl photo, the TD back plate also has that slight curve to it. The other changes I am done with, and I have screen made set of rubber gaskets so ready to go. I just want to make sure on the seam. As I can cut a slight seam in to it, but I dont want to, to be honest. It is just such a cleaner look. All other changes are done. Just want to know about that. Also, Tony's and Jasper's centurion builds are probably the nicest examples I have seen and his TD is smooth. I much prefer that look and would like to stay true to that.

  14. And now, I put together two sets of gloves - one rubber for Centurion and one for Trooping. Here is the rubber set.

  17. As i have seen in so many builds the posterior pushes out from the kidney. So I made some of those clips and glued them to the posterior. I used CA glue for this one. I wanted a definite solid hold. Good to go.
