(And potential build thread???? It could happen...) Hey Silver Siblings!!!! Welcome to the FISD and our chrome Lady’s build section. I thought I’d introduce myself first. My real human name is Teresa. I currently reside in nowhereland Northern Alberta Canada in a small community of 150 people. I am a very proud member of the Badlands Garrison, and have been since April 2016. I currently am going into my third term as Garrison PR Officer, and I’m one of the Moderators on the Captain Phasma Costumers Facebook page. I also can be found sewing gaskets, neck seals, harnesses and sexy biker shorts for our First Order Family, Classic TKs, clones, Sandy’s, Snowies, as well as a multitude of other items for a good many costumes. You can find me in the Ongoing Sales and Run section in the Imperial Commissary or on Facebook under Geeky Pinks Phantastic Gaskets. I answer to TK~41307, Miss Pink, Pinky, Pink Lady, GeekyPink, SoulArt, Snow Queen, Captain Sassy, Teresa and Mom [emoji175] I joined the Legion with my Authentic Props Stunt TK, Who has been worked on and built to EIB #719 and Centurion #335 levels. I began work on my Phasma in May of 2016. A very aspiring build for my second costume. I was a newb! I joined the ranks of Captain on February 28th 2017 as the Legions 9th Phasma. My kit is an ABS KB Props, with a Jim Tripon Helmet. C3P0 fingers from Shawn Thorsson. Holster clip from Justin Lee Morrison. All soft goods except pouches on belt (cape, gaskets, neck seal, belt) were made by myself including belt. Pouches were from Jimmi as well. The finish on the armor is Spectra Chrome. I did the sanding, wet sanding, priming and sanding. The guy at the autobody shop did the actual chroming. I often can be found here reading and interjecting comments here and there, but mostly I respond privately to people. And help them build. I’m not sure why I’m like a FISD ninja, I guess I didn’t wish to be out in the open helping for fear it looked super pushy. Elitist, Or like bragging. I’ve helped garrison mates build many many classic tks, and helped in my Twins FOTK. I’m also an approved ROTS Royal Guard, Director of Intelligence Ysanne Isard, Governor Ahrinda Pryce, and am tinkering in a Mara Jade, Legacy Fem TK, TFU Black Shadow Guard with full robes and First Order Snowtrooper. The Mara and Legacy require some weight loss before I feel comfortable wearing that skin tight body suit or tailored armor. As a woman, I understand the trials of armor building around a dead thyroid, hormonal weight fluctuations, body parts spilling over the edges of your armor because you just can’t lay off the salt n vinegar chips and dip, female body parts, stress, busy single Hockey Mom life.... I had always thought I’d come back and create my build thread.... help others by my mistakes and trials and build knowledge. Vader knows I certainly took enough pictures throughout. But time has a way of getting away from us, and here I am almost 3 years later and still no thread. Until today. Maybe you all will inspire me to get my buttplate in gear and get a build thread up for you. At the very least, I’m here at the gentle request of my dear TK Twin Pyrates, (who is always trying to get me to help openly instead of privately) and Andrew/Sly to let you know I’m here to offer any help and advice I may have on this particular costume. Or as a female of our species. Although I cannot guarantee that I will get that build thread created, or be in here 24/7, I will do the best I can for you all. I will share pictures. Offer Build advice. Vendor info. Sewing and construction advice. Always have a shoulder for you to to cry on when you end up hating her and wish to throw her down the stairs or light her on fire. (It’s true. This happens.) I will always listen. Help you as best as I can. If I do not know the answer of what you seek, I will find you a Phasma that does. I shall try harder to not lurk in the shadows, but be more present, in the hopes to help you all. I’ll add some of my favorite photos and armor bits then go into build stuff as the days go on. Wishing you all happy building and trooping! Sincerely SoulArt/TK-41307 Now for some armor bits just laying around in my phone. Mostly upper body. Cod, boot, etc. Ill clean this up later and organize it by body section. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Managed to close up 2 of the gaps. The other 2 have ABS paste in them now. Thursday is jiujitsu night and I work at 530 tomorrow morning so we'll see how much I get done tonight. Sniper knee held well so far. I have rounded out the corners on the return edge as suggested. I will most likely see where I can brace it and glue down one edge to finish it off. Hopefully by tomorrow night I am strapping.2 points

It's my hope that this post will reach other Vets that are out there wondering about Joining the 501st and have PTSD / Anxiety issues. I had my 1st troop the other day. My wife came to be my spotter and get suited up. I'm not gonna lie, excitement and anxiety was kicking my @$$. We got suited up and headed to where we were doing the photo shoot. Mind you I was not expecting the amount of people that were going to show up there or be in the Venue after we came in. (Roughly 500 per 30 min if I remember correctly) we were in there for about 2 and 1/2 Hours taking photos of the 20 of us in Armor against the Icy back drops of the park we were in. Not to mention the 100's of others that we took with people. I will say that it's the largest crowd that I have been in the past decade, with ZERO Heighten alertness going off and almost no Anxiety (Except for falling and busting my 4th point of contact on the ice.) There is something about the anonymity that you get looking through green lenses and your head in the bucket. I cannot tell you how rewarding of an experience this was for me. To be able to get out in public and not feel that crushing anxiety and have your body go in to overdrive. If you are a Vet and are wondering about getting a shiny white white suit, 2 words DO IT!!!!!1 point

Thigh cover strips are trimmed. This is my latest attempt at the sniper knee. I am not thrilled with the inside edge, but short of cutting out a section, splitting and filling, I don't see a lot of alternative... I would not look forward to that patch job either.1 point

For the F-11 it’s not that hard. Wash really good with hot soapy water then scuff it up and rattle can it. Som clear would help with durability. Pretty much the same as resin blaster.1 point

So everyone is aware, Jason's design needed a few tweaks to get it patch ready - legible fonts etc. This is the design that will be sent for approval/patches:1 point

Getting back to you on the L2 & L3. Those two options are currently not available, yet. The CRL requirements are listed in basic only.1 point

Depending on if you want the brackets showing on the bottom of the chest plate, you also have the option (instead of removing any of the neck area) to not have any return edge there. This is what they did for Luke's armor, and is approvable at level 3.1 point

Thank you! I felt it was important to make sure both the OTK and FOTK were properly represented. The challenge was balancing the colors and adding as many as I could.1 point

DIY brackets, love it. A little fine tuning and you're there. Regarding the armor, if it fits you good with all that clothing on wait until you're wearing just an under suit1 point

Hallelujah, there is movement at last!! Yoke gluing to the inner back plate connection. Once dry, it will be glued into the back plate and be a complete piece ready for final sanding. I did manage more trimming, majority of the rough trimming is done, some of the fine sanding and trimming is done- the hand guards and knee plates are finished in that regard. I've trimmed and molded (where necessary) the boot spats, and now I'm ready to trim to make them look like the shape they do in the CRL photos (they're kinda wonky- I'll take photos later). But I'm not gonna lie, she sat pretty much undisturbed for a good three months before last weekend. I went to a Mando build party and finally managed to get working again. This kit is just a huge snot to work with. I'm constantly frustrated as I keep running into walls where I can't figure out what to do next. So I start on another part, and run into a wall there, then another part, another wall, repeat until so frustrated it sits for three months. Christmas and the holidays were busy (and cold in the garage), so that did slow me down a little, but honestly I had no desire to work on it even when I had time. It's not just the kit itself, by KB, it's FO in general- they're stupid complicated. Though the boot spats have me a bit concerned (more later). I thankfully have a friend's assembled FOTK kit for reference at my disposal (it's basically a mannequin piece, so he's letting me borrow it while I build), and that has helped tremendously. I got a little of the desire back after working on her this weekend, so I'm hopeful I'll be able to continue the trend of at the very least chipping away at it. My goal is to be finished and troop her at the Episode 9 premiere (locally). I need a firm date in my head to get me moving. I'll only forgo that if it comes down to producing quality work that I'll be happy with in the long run or just finishing it to be finished, at diminished quality. Realistic expectations. I should be able to get it done by then, provided I just keep moving. My Geeky Pink gaskets and neck seal came in, and they're phantastic! I really love them, and I can actually move better than I expected. I should be able to start assembling some of the parts, now- forearms, biceps, thighs and shins. My gloves came in (just basic Nomex, like my TK- they'll be primarily covered anyway), and I can mod them and add in the finger tip magnets for finger armor connections. Ironically we've got a potential new member working on an TLJ Executioner right now, and though he started after me, he's pretty far along and I'm likely going to be hitting him up for help and tips. I've also officially decided I'm going to pay someone else to chrome her. I will do the black base coat depending on cost, but I simply don't have the skill level or ability (or honestly desire) to attempt to chrome her myself. I'm actually happier now that I don't have that hanging over my head, too. I have two uncles who work in the auto industry (truck decals) and they have industry contacts I'm going to try and talk with. I have options, but I'm just not quite ready to explore them fully yet because I need more done to show them what I have and what I'm after. It will be expensive to outsource, but like this costume was gonna be cheap anyway, plus, I finally got that raise! (I'm proud of my negotiating skills, had to pat myself on the back there). For me, it will be worth it to avoid all the frustration and confusion. I still think there's a fair amount of viable at-home options for other Phasmas out there, just not this one. So... tl;dr version: finally working on her again, hope to keep it up, more updates to follow! Wish me luck- I need it all!1 point
