  1. I agree with Daniel on that one, too! Also you could get other dies for the press and punch holes etc. for snaps and things.

  2. Getting a press also gives you the opportunity to help fellow Troopers with their snapping or even pre-make snap plates (webbing/ abs) and sell some sets

  3. Thanks Dan. I have some really fine brushes and it certainly won't hurt to do it. Man. The wait for approval is excruciating. But I am going to be extremely patient because I submitted it during the holidays and family time is far more important than this. That is all on me for waiting until Christmas Eve to submit it.

  4. Oof. Good to know, Tony. I thought maybe if they were right on either side of the seam that would cause problems of its own. Hopefully my armor will be so well shaped and fitted to me that it will have no desire to slide about, but if it does now I know how to fix it. Thanks! Speaking of strapping, I finally got the sew-in snaps for the shoulder-nylon to shoulder-bell-elastic connection just now. I did NOT expect #10 snaps to be as ungodly huge as they are! Guess they'll keep flat well enough. Boy. I have yet to revisit the chestplate positioning issue so I can't sew them in just yet, but I think (peering into empty wallet with hand drawn moths comically fluttering out of it) I have actually purchased all I need for my TK now. ...minus further helmet electronics. Though I've already got a bunch of those. But that's a song for another time. Merry belated Christmas, y'all, now go eat those leftover cookies!

  6. Thanks Dan, that helped a lot! Unfortunately the Rolson set was sold out, but I found one from AmTech that looks identical. Keywords to search for: “wax carver tools”.

  7. Great progress, Patrick!! :-) For the knurling, i purchased a relatively cheap set of ‘Rolson’ shaping/modelling tools from Amazon - they happened to have a nice knurling pattern on them which worked well for mine. Here’s a pic showing the tool and the packaging that the whole set (around 10pcs) came in. Lovely build thread so far, Patrick. :-)

  8. Good Luck Garrett Like Joseph said, it's not a sprint. Looking at a pile like that can be intimidating. Break it down into small projects and it's not so bad. Finish one then move on to next. Before you know it you'll have a great suit of armor. Aim big! We'll help you get there! Good Luck Future Trooper!

  9. We are here for ya', Garrett. Just take your time, ask lots of questions, post lots of photos, and remember this: Measure once twice three times before cutting, and once again before gluing anything. When in doubt, let us know before proceeding and we will help you out. Consider this a marathon, not a sprint, and you will have a great looking/fitting set of armor before you know it! If you are hopefully building with Centurion level in mind, here is some information: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35371-eib-and-centurion-what-do-these-terms-mean/

  10. This is fantastic!! I feel like I have a whole squad behind me to help with this Yes, definitely going for Centurion for several reasons, but mostly because I am a compulsive perfectionist. (I have an Imperial Officer uniform that I've been sitting on for over two years because it just wasn't right and needed tweaking, and while it's still not done, I finally managed to force myself to submit for approval) I'll be taking my time and triple checking everything with you guys before doing anything rash. As I think most newbs are, I am slightly terrified of cutting/breaking/trimming anything to the point of ruining it - I can always get replacement parts from RS if I need to (I'd rather not though) - so I'll be VERY careful. Next stop will be pouring over ukswraith's and Wooks' threads, thanks again everyone!

  12. You should hear something from Jason, if he is doing it, in the coming days. He did mine and I think over all it tools about three or four days. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk

  14. Hi David, It’s totally up to you as it shouldn’t be an issue for basic. Each frown on screen was slightly different anyway, so there’s really no right or wrong as such - the common element is a slight point at the ends. Personally, I’d be tempted to go a little like this;

  17. A few updates: Did get 90% helmet (and short thighs) on my order with WTF Found out TK Boots is closing up shop, and my feet are too small for Imperial Boots. Decided to suck it up and paint some that fit my feet. Going to give these boots a try, currently taking notes on supplies and processes to airbrush them (looking at threads like this) Ordered straps and elastics based on the list linked above (https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31404-supply-list-for-your-tk-build/ ) Realized this won't cover me for the nylon snap plates I'm planning, so looking to order some more. Fortunately strapworks.com is fast and reasonable shipping! Also thrilled that me beginning this project pushed a good friend of mine over the edge to start a build too! She is another petite female who lives nearby, is extremely resourceful at costume building, excellent researcher, and will make this seem much more doable We're sharing notes and resources already. And this Saturday there's an armor party not too far away that will have several TK's in work, so I'll be going ready to watch and learn! Upcoming decision points: How badly do I hate setting snaps? (Pretty badly!) Ordering some TBD tool to make it easier Make vs buy on belt, holster Source for neck seal (have decided that is a "buy", not a "make")

  18. Wow Patrick! This is incredible progress. Splendid work in hollowing out a large portion of the folding stock. If you care to follow through with some more detail on top of what you're doing, you can add knurling patterns to the bottom of end cap clip T-bar and also on the top half of the front and back of the front sight curves. You said it! Getting the details takes time but it will be well worth it, cheers! Sent from my SM-G390W using Tapatalk

  19. Merry Christmas everyone! Time for another update. Still working on the details, which take more time than I thought (at least for a beginner like me). Lots of dremeling, sanding and repairing with green stuff... Here’s an overview of the recent progress: 20181225_215425 - placed M4 hex bolts in the folding stock pivot - relocated the clearing strip of the inner bolt (I know, the lower right side is still a bit high but unfortunately I noticed after gluing it) - lots more hollowing of the folding stock - finished the end cap, filled air bubles in the resin cast with green stuff - replaced the U-channel of the end cap clip by the aluminum one from Tino’s kit - hollowed the front sight guard, recreated the front sight block and inserted the grub screw from Tino’s kit, made the front sight from an M4 screw - replaced the resin hat nut in the grip by a real one Here’s a closer look at the tiny details on the end cap clip and the front sight: 20181225_215740 That’s it for now... Hope to make some more progress in between the family visits.

  21. Wow, now THAT is the attitude to have, Oscar! I had a lot of issues on my first EI submission as well. I had to end up buying a new chest, back and kidney and spending over a month getting it ready for level 3, but it was well worth it. I promise you that you will more proud than ever of your armor once you get those items taken care of, and if you should need any help or advice, just ask here on the forums and we will be there for you. You are also more than welcome to PM me with anything you need assistance with. Keep up that positive attitude, brother, and I look forward to seeing your Centurion submission in the new year!!

  22. So it's done! Now time for her to submit photos for basic acceptance. I am so excited for her to be an official TK! Here's her big reveal at our armor party yesterday. All 4'11" of her! Thanks for following on this TK build. The adventure will continue on my next RS TK Hero build after DragonCon. Cheers, troopers!
