  1. Some pics of the stuff I've acquired for this build. I think this is all from trooperbay. Sniper knee, original strapping kit (the screws showing on the outside of the armor is a upper level requirement), three button plate (as well as all the other button plates), S-trim, and strip stencils. Although the stencils are the "sandtrooper" stencils, they don't match this helmet - so I will need to modify. Collection of pouches and my pauldron. I couldn't decide on which pouch configuration I was going to do, so I ended up with a little of everything. I still have a canvas shoulder pouch and two more leather MP40 pouches on the way. I'll have plenty of pouches - I can pretty much emulate both versions of the docking bay 94 captain and the cantina captain. 3D print of a T-21 from TK421 propstop Sling, sling swivel, tubing for theT-21. Some wire for my DLT-19 as well. I'm still missing a few greeblies for the T-21, but I think I have them sorted out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Let me also add, these types of lessons are hard learned, but we all make them. Do not get discouraged by this. You will come out of this an experience an armor builder and better for it.

  4. Agreed. That is not much support given the stress the joint takes. I would consider a piece that gives at least 2" of support to each side of the joint, preferably 3 to 4 inches. Nice work on filling the gap with slurry. Sorry its tearing.

  5. So, this will be a slooooow build. I used up all my favours with my family during my TK build. Anyway, all I’ve managed to do is get one eye more or less shaped and started to test the positioning of the brow. Having a number of detailed images of the helmet is great – the light plays tricks with the subtle return edges so many angles of the same thing are necessary. And the return edges on the AP armor are a little soft, so that makes things a little tougher when you’re trimming to match the original. Also, that brow is as far up as it will go without trimming. So… I guess I will be trimming the brow area of the helmet. Also, it looks like the brow in the reference pick is thinner too. I will also need to trim the opening at the bottom of the helmet a little more than I did with the TK so my head will fit in. To match my helmet to the original, I’ve been taking pictures of my helmet to match the reference pictures (relative camera location and lens zoom) and overlaying the images in Photoshop. I think I have a set-up that matches the original photos. Now I just have to mark up my helmet with some tape with reference points and I should be able to place things like tube stripes, paint runs, and cracks in the right location. I’m terrible at free-handing anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Alright Martin let's do this. Thank you for your Centurion application. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required submission photos are present. Thank you for making the suggested updates mentioned on your EIB application. Your armor looks much cleaner and uniform. Beautiful job on your TM build. That said Andrew and I would like to welcome you to Centurion. Great job! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: If we had anything to add here would be to bring the waist belt up even higher. It should sit at the lowest Ab buttons. Vader is awaiting your arrival on the Death Star.

  8. Just so you know, the helmet has 4 teeth cut out both sides. The left hand side 4th tooth is barely cut out but it is. I will dig out a close up of the helmet and show you. Good luck with the build

  9. From the looks your inside support is too narrow. You need a wide coverstrip to absorb the flex. E6000 as wide a pc. You can fit and redo seam. This is just a speedbump. You got this!

  10. Well....I blame Greg @wook1138 for having "bad influence" as this is a build intended for MEPD - Mos Eisly Police Department and the fact that I couldn`t resist wanting to show my friends here what I picked up this morning And seeing as Greg did the breakdown of differences between a TK and a TD I´ll just fire away BBB-day #4(never stops giving me "the Little boy at christmas feeling" Had a hard time deciding which Kit to get but couldn`t resist the lineage that RS has so RS it is...if someone had trouble in figure that out And...also think it lends itself perfectly for a Sandtrooper build and the helmet in particular with the little bumps and lumps. And here it is in all of it`s glory and I´m super-happy except for one thing, I´m missing the little RS labels on the peices that I have seen on other builds..oh well....after showering the pieces to get rid of the debri of plastic crumbs I marked the parts with a sharpie just so I don`t get confused when sitting in glue fumes nothing to it when you already did a few builds but for a beginner it would be a good thing ta have the parts labeled and on the other hand the detective work in finding out is good research to have to The SWAT level (L3) is a bit different as you emulate a specific Trooper and I´m shooting for this guy: the weathering is the challengeing part to get right...I´m liking the fact that he has different amount of teeth cut out on each side and that little "fire-mark" on the forehead - should be fun And here`s the breakdown for the "desert version" (the Sandtroopers switch gear constantly between scenes so it`s quite hard to keep up and that`s why there`s more than one version of Sergeant, Captain and Private (based on Pauldron). Obviously I like this one the best so here goes!

  11. Yeah, eventually... hopefully. It almost happened instead of the TD. My wife and son both wanted me to do the DeathTrooper. I wanted dirt and a BFG.

  13. One last post here. I’ve started a new build for a sandtrooper. But before I bail on this thread, I wanted to share one last image. I have this on order from Karbonite Kustoms. You can find him on Facebook. So sweet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Still working on wrapping up my thighs. In the mean time, I went ahead and installed my sniper knee plate. Through my research I became aware of the fact that this can be one of the most frustrating parts of the build and I found that to be entirely accurate lol. The sniper plate just did not seem to want to fit perfectly no matter how I tried it. After a lot of finagling I got it into the position I thought worked best overall, but it's not perfect. Also here is a test fit with my thigh. This week has been busier than I expected so I still haven't gotten to go on a supply run and get my acetone for the ABS paste to fix the back of my thighs yet. Happy Friday to all!

  17. thanks. The polystyrene being offered by KB Props now is way too thin for my taste. The pulls look sharp, great detail, but it bends and curls like construction paper. In my opinion, that's not armor. I've decided to go with their 0.118" clear pet-g. Kevin's new parter Hal posted a video of a FOTK thigh piece pulled with this plastic being painted. It looks amazing AND switching from ABS will get this kit to me much sooner.

  18. Yes sorry, just realized that! Confusion on my part. If you do split the back vertically to shrink, that will be quite the feat, but may ultimately end up with a much better fit. The other challenge that I've had is getting the yoke to fit on me well. I ended up having to heat bend the connector to have the yoke hug my body better, which also lead to me having to bend the chest plate to follow this new curve. An unanticipated challenge! Will definitely keep up with your build to see how it goes. There is a new recruit in my garrison working on a Phasma Jimmi build that has been ahving challenges resizing for her frame as well. Anything I learn there I will definitely share!

  20. Nice start. So far, I've managed to trim out one eye on my bucket (well, almost). The wife didn't take the kids to her parents this week - so no build time for me. Nice work space That IS nice looking armour. Maybe next time.

  24. Everything including helmet is rough trimmed as I managed to stay on target after a little detour those shoulder bells seem to be able to help with any eventual gap at chest/back plate...they are huuuge

  25. And....my game-plan was to rough trim everything before any assambly work...that worked out great

  32. Good luck on your build! Hope you'll be SWAT in no time. The TD you've picked will be challenging because of the weathering but there are a ton of reference pics for him (at least from the waist up) so you should be good.

  38. When I built My ANH armor it was pulled in HIPS (High Impact PolyStyyrene) and while it has better details its harder to cut and has little to no flexibility to it. So you get more detail and less durability with it. Honestly now that I'm working with ABS I don't think I would ever go back to HIPS. Just my two cents for what it's worth.

  40. Ok Daniel, Since I couldn't post my school troop video, I put together a video compilation of trooper action shots. Prepare yourself for 3 minutes of heart-pounding thrills as I put my armour through it's paces. 41. Well, it turns out the insole can be pulled out with relative ease. It is glued in with a thin, weak adhesive like a spray adhesive. Just tug on the inside arch a little and pull more. The sole comes up east without ripping. Turns out the removable insole is just a thin thin layer of foam rubber, which is on top of a very dense nonremovable rubber. I'm sure it could be removed too but i believe it's a thick, important part of the shoe. See below for pics of shoe with insole removed. ---------- Here is a pic of the insole removed. -------- I replaced it with an arch supporting, heel stabilizing Surefeet insole.. Which is thicker and makes the boot fit me great, like a tailored shoe. I also wear goodhew Montrose wool socks, which are great for wicking sweat, giving done ventilation on top, and padding on the heel. I strongly recommend trying different insoles and socks too get that perfect, all day comfort. Great boots made better Sent from my LG-MS770 using Tapatalk
