scratchbuilt HWT bazooka
ajax407 replied to dashrazor's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Very nice! How about some details? Ya know, just in case someone *cough* me *cough* is looking to build one this year. -
What's wrong with initials?!?

Welcome Michael I have an ATA myself. Great suit, I have no regrets. I opted for an ANH Stunt because that's the TK I like the most. I believe you can make an ATA a Hero build or ESB as well but ROTJ has some unique qualities that may require some extra effort. No matter what you decide, none of them are going to be "easy" if you want it done right. In the end it is well worth the effort, no question there. Your absolute 2 best friends in this endeavor are Research and Patience. You're here so you've taken a right step in the research department. Have you joined the forum for your local garrison? There will, no doubt, be people to help you out there. Most times they'll let you come help with troops, visit armor parties, etc. so you can see actual suits to help you decide. Have fun!

Flathead screwdriver and hammer worked for me.

My standard answer for "where didja get that costume?" is... What costume? I like the long, long time ago... one though. I had a kid ask me what happened to Capt. Rex during order 66. I told him I didn't know, I didn't pay attention during history class.

Too soon man, too soon.

Happy birthday man!!! Thanks for everything you do! Enjoy your day!

I'm no expert, but I'll state a few things I think are pretty obvious... Not a TE. Details look pretty soft, eyes don't look trimmed right, the ears seem weird and the mic tips are not accurate. It's been said before, and I'll say it again... avoid evilBay. There are more accurate solutions, at a better price from reputable vendors right here.

If you became EXTREMELY RICH, what would you do first?

Life sized, fully functional AT-AT. Oh, and enough land to let her run free. -
I think I found Waldo... in my pants. :-D

Yeah, what he said. :-)

Looks like we have a good old fashion armor debate, boys and girls. I'll make the popcorn. I stick by what I said before, for the very reasons Brian pointed out. But honestly, I'm not gonna look down on another troopers armor because his db is a half inch more to the inside than mine. Btw TM, ouch harsh.

I say whichever spot covers up the most blackspace between the thigh and abdomen pieces. That was the intention of the drop boxes in the first place.

Oh, I see how it is. :-P :-D Just be carefully drilling those magnets, they can be very brittle. Very, very sharp looking binders btw. Nice work!

Is it me, or has someone got the sticker on back to front!

Somebody needs to wax their eyebrows. -
Hmmm, so according to my left ear I'm a Sergeant and according to my right I'm a Lieutenant Colonel. I'll go with Sarge. I work for a living.

A year of research and a lifetime of obsession have come down to this moment... My application is in, my photos are submitted!!! Now I just wait for everybody to get over their CV hangover and I should be in the legion!!! I can honestly say that my blood, sweat, and tears went into this, my first build. Blood: X-Acto knife slip Sweat: Um, Florida, July-August, duh. Tears: Trying to paint in Florida, in August. Here are some more pics (you can never see too many TK pics, right?). Please feel free to let me know if you notice anything that needs help. I saw a few things I will take care of, but I believe these photos were acceptable for application. If not I will gladly redo them. Of course my ultimate goal is EIB, and I think I can get there with just a few tweaks. Again, let me know... After all, you all helped me get this far! and the reason I wear a bucket... Obscure Pearl Jam lyric... "Admire me, admire my home. Admire my son, he's my clone." Not to put the cart before the horse or anything, but I'm already signed up for my first troop. And I can't wait!!! In the mean time, I stand-by, awaiting my orders from command.

NEW SOURCE FOR PLASTIC T-TRACK!
ajax407 replied to gazmosis's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Awesome, I'll have to check that out. Thanks for keeping your eyes open! -
Related question (no hijack intended): How does suiting up at an event like this work? I can't imagine there will be a secure location to keep bins and get changed. So I guess changing in the parking garage (I would be driving in) is the norm? And if you want to go back into your "civies" you have to go back to your car? IF I get my TK done in time, and get my 501st ID, and can afford a ticket I really want to join the party since it's in my backyard. I too have never done a con.

Would the kind of paint affect results? My house is painted with an insulating paint to help keep the Florida heat out. I wonder if this would help on the inside of the armor, or would it hurt because it would keep body heat in.

That's my future squad here in the Florida Garrison.
-
Wow, thanks guy. Saved me a headache for sure.

I plan on using E6000. Super strong, flexible and has not let me down on the rest of my build.

Hovi Speakers in TK bucket
ajax407 replied to The Phantom's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
The drawbacks I've heard from others is the feedback issue and that some don't find these powerful enough. That's why I'm opting for amps/speakers behind the chest plate.
