  1. Thank you Mark, it is very rewarding to share talent and have others benefit! I am in the process of creating my 3rd ewok, another commission If anyone is interested in an ewok head or suit, feel free to PM me!
  2. That AM armor looks pretty good with the RT mod pieces. With the TM pieces, even better. I look forward to hearing from the experts, but it appears that you have met all the requirements. Nice Job!
  3. Thanks, I will definately step away from the plastic eventually Vern. When funds are available to go metal, I am there. Right now I am more interested in fabricating the look with found objects, and showing how I did it. It would be awsome to have a metal replica with moving parts like the one R2Dan has. Sorry that I somehow missed your post of the stock from last year. I always have trouble with the search engine and spend a lot of time scrolling back in time for posts. I guess I did not go back far enough, very usefull indeed. Do you know the angle of the mag? Thanks
  4. Sam and Vern, Thank you so much!!! With Your contributions, I now understand. I really appreciate the fast replies Very cool indeed Now I just need to make it from plastic and wood
  5. Maybe this tutorial will help with your question. --------- My thighs clank from time to time depending on how I am moving. I do not notice when walking. I have my thighs attached with a V, this seems to hold the thighs in a more controlled and comfortable position. One thigh will be longer, but should seat the same distance from the belt. I may not of understood your question, but I hope this is helpful.
  6. I have a request for those who own real sterling E-11's. Would someone kindly post some detailed pics of the folding stock? I would like to see inside the folding stock, particularly the metal slide part that is inside the handle. I think this will help a lot of folks who want to make a proper folding stock. In addition, some detailed shots of the way the key hole and folding stock attach together on the barrel, all of the reference shots I have do not magnify with enough detail for me. I would also like to know what the angle degree for the magazine is. Asking for angle between front of barrel and mag. Thank you Christaan
  7. Happy birthday Paul!!!! A toast to the Commander
  8. We agree again, the hasbro is too short by itself, but if you look at my pics you will see that I have extended it. I beleive you need to add 1 7/8 inch spacer.
  9. Juan, I have been toying around with the folding stock concept. I have now figured it out and will be scratchbuilding another stock piece. Here are some shots of what I worked out with the prototype. Thank you for asking?
  10. Vern, Were you peeking at my photobucket account? This is one of those moments when you and I agree 100% Well put
  11. Being that I have been under a great deal of stress lately, this project has been a great outlet and source of calm for me. I really enjoy having to think and create. So, I needed to challenge myself with the handle. This is my first go at this in depth of a build and only my second blaster build, BTW. I have modified the BBC grip plans, I wanted a more accurate handle. I then cut out some plywood, abs and masonite shapes. Layered together will provide the right thickness and grip details. I used the same clips that many of use use for mounting the O2 canister for the trigger guard. This requires the use of a vise and a hammer, pounding the desired shape into the metal. Trigger is layered plastics. I have notched out the trigger area and installed a spring(lighter)Hopefully, the pictures do most of the explaining. Here are some shots of my scratch built counter and folding stock Well, I had better get back to fabricating!
  12. I am starting my quest for ANH Stunt Centurion. I am going to show you how to make your own blaster using a variety of materials that can be obtain at little or no cost. I am also going to show that an accurate blaster can be created without a resin kit glued to a PVC pipe. Please refrain from posting any negative comments in my build, a new thread can be started for that elsewhere. Questions and comments are welcome Here we go.... I started out by purchasing a Hasbro blaster for $10 Then I gutted it down to a shell You see the use of standard sink drain extention pipe(2@$2.99-16" length)that I am using for an inner shell and fillin. The bolt is made from a plastic container w/ a strip of styrene. I have been using the visual reference material found in the armory and the BBC blaster plans(which have some issues). I have also found Tkbondservants modifications to those plans helpful. Here are some shots of the barrel w/ a rule to demonstrate scale Here you see a full layout using a doopy-doo tip(temporary until scratch built) to provide full dimension. You also get a glimpse of my scratchbuilt handle. Next up: Handle assembly
  13. Mathew, I used the spray on Plastidip for the interior of my bucket. This leaves a nice finish. TK-4510's helmet tutorial will prove a great resource when it comes to building your ATA. Have fun with your build
  14. I appologize for not paying attention to my thread sooner. Update I was commisioned to do another ewok toward the end of last November. This one turned out better. Here is a clip of our ewok suits on the morning news The brown one is my creation
  15. Awsome! Your ewoks turned out great Sorry to take so long. It is a scary baby mask. Thank you for the kind words Thank you!
  16. I think you guys are missing something here . Some of us are artists and creative problem solvers. I have a large skill set and experience doing different jobs that require problem solving. For myself, it is far too easy to just put a model kit together. I require it to be more challenging, where I have to be creative and find solutions. This makes it fun for me!!! For many it sounds like a lot of work and wasted effort. But, the end results are always worth it . No, the hasbro blaster I have right now is not completely accurate(my first try) it looks great in pictures, though. The one I have stopped production on(starting scratch build) will be noticeable by the grip and it's placement. You can completeley hack a hasbro and make it work. Sure, you have to do all this crazy work! My point is that some of us are wired to mod things, others make things, then others who build things, those who recast things and then those who are combinations of the above. This is what makes FISD great, diversity in skill and talent. This is all I am going to say: I am all for an accurate costume, but there is a diff when it comes to actual trooping. Sometimes we have to make those little sacrifices to accuracy to allow for our comfort. Big examples are fans and electronics. I troop when I troop, meaning I may be in my armor for 4-8 hours. Having a lightweight blaster helps w/ the fatigue factor. We all have our reasons, but the main reason we are here is to have fun and raise money for charities and organizations that better the human condition. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion, on this topic we must agree to disagree and remain civil. I fully agree that just an out of the box hasbro fully painted is not enough! I would agree that it is easier and better option for most people to do kit or pipebuild. @Thanks Lou, I agree with your comment!
  17. I would just like to say that you can make a hasbro look screen accurate. I will always troop with a Hasbro. It's light, cheap and if it breaks you fix it. When I do photo opps with kids and adults, I can let them hold it. Most of the troopers that have $200 plus invested in a blaster won't do that. You should see them light up when I ask if they would like to hold my blaster. I will do a scratch build for my Centurion, and have a fully modded hasbro as my trooping blaster. Look at my ESB screening pics, does it look like I have a hasbro? Vern, I really do not think you can compare the hasbro with an fx bucket. No matter what you do to an fx bucket it will always be an fx, the dimensions are way off. A hasbro blaster, on the other hand, is much closer in scale and can be modded to look like the real deal. Just my 2 Credits
  18. Wow! Mark, your suit looks great! After all the drama, at least you have this awsome display of your talents to remind you why you went thru all that muck and that the end result was worth it.
  19. Most of the accurate armors should fit you, your not that tall and you are skinny! I am 6ft and my ATA fits great
  20. Awsome Vern thanks for posting this!
  21. Nice pics Kevin! I had a great time trooping with you on Saturday These smaller cons seem to be more fun to troop!
  22. Nice suit! That mod you did on the repulsors turned out great, major improvement.
  23. I think it was there way of making it easier and different than the original 78. I was bummed myself when they started selling these w/out the stock. Your absolutely right about the look. I am amazed that my clips are still there and functional, I played hard with that blaster. Vintage toys and young children You are braver than I am! Thanks for posting! Awsome , I did not know they released it as a Batman toy! They do this quite a bit, apparently. When Robinhood came out they released the Ewok Village again as there wooded base camp. Thanks!
  24. That's how it worked on the Hasbro, nice and simple. The real folding stock is way more complex. Always good to have you chime in Thank you! I am sorry for your loss. I know the feeling all too well. In 1984, we had one of my Uncle's living with us. I came home from school one day and half my toys were gone. He and my Stepdad felt I had too many toys, I lost 50 to 60 percent of my star wars collection. Until that day, I had every action figure and most of the vehicles and playsets. I miss the deathstar and vaders star destroyer playsets the most. There will be a newer version of that folding stock coming soon!
  25. Thanks John It was fun trooping with you and your garrison mates at Comic-Con, BTW
