How many hours should I expect to take?
bluehickey replied to forceful1's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I definitely wasn't sad mine was done at all, I was insanely happy, but I do admit that having been focused so intently on working on it for so long and then being done, I did feel a weird void in my life for a while. -
How many hours should I expect to take?
bluehickey replied to forceful1's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I got an FX kit and also tried to get it done as soon as I could. I was told it could be done in a couple of days (by people who had done it before and knew what to do). It actually took me about 3 weeks to put together working off and on, a couple of hours here and there when I had time. If I had to do it again, a second time, I would already know which straps, snaps, glue etc to get and it would save a lot of experimentation time and I'm guessing I could now do it in a weeks time, but only because of the hind sight I gained by already doing it. So if you can get help from garrison members that will save you the most time. -
Bluehickey's completed armor
bluehickey replied to bluehickey's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
You're stocky too? I have really broad shoulders which normally I don't mind, but in white armor, I tend to look like a football player which is not how stormtroopers are built in the movies. -
Opinion Needed on this Unknown Helmet!

MRCE stands for Master Replica Collector's Edition. It's the helmet I use. -
Opinion Needed on this Unknown Helmet!
bluehickey replied to DEDEDEJr's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Go with the MRCE, you won't be disappointed, it's the helmet I have and I love it. That Rubies helmet just looks like some kind of insect and it doesn't have the black trim on the underside either - very junky. -
Hey, a good salesman can move any old piece of crap. This guy knows he's got a lemon, but he's giving it his best spin ever.

Looks really really good! The only thing I see is that the shoulder bells are kind of getting eaten up underneath the top of the chest plate, might be good to have them out just a bit more. Looks awesome!

I have FX and I kept mine on so that I could attach a strap to it with a snap, but I definitely trimmed it with scissors, making it thinner and curved so that it fit in between my legs better. It's more comfortable now as well.

where to find TK appropriate photo backgrounds?

It's pretty big, perhaps 10' X 10'? Here are some pics of our garrison using it for photo shoots: Screen photos -
where to find TK appropriate photo backgrounds?
bluehickey replied to pandatrooper's topic in Off Topic
Here is a high-res photo of the canvas backdrop that our garrison uses at photo shoots. As you can see there are wrinkles in the fabric around the edges, but you can just crop those out... Here is how I used it with a picture of my son. Added a glow to the lightsaber and (attempted) to put his reflection on the floor... -
I've seen a number of female members here who have full sets of stormtrooper armor and who wear it proudly. I'm not against them wearing it, but I just have to ask what the motivation is? This question is not posed out of disrespect, I just would love to get some insight into why some women choose to be a stormtrooper which is essentially a male character's costume? For example, the public generally understands stormtroopers as being male, do you get weird reactions when you speak and people hear a female voice coming from under the helmet?

Any photos available?

I have a MRCE where the lenses are held in with screws. I've found that it is better if the lenses DON'T sit flush against the eye holes, thus leaving a small gap where air can escape. I almost never have a problem with the lenses fogging up. I suppose that if my lenses were hot-glued in all the way around the edges with no where for the air to escape, that they would fog up a lot more.

I was just cruising Ebay and looking at all of the different kinds of TK helmets that are available to buy and it made me wonder, is there someone out there who has taken it upon themselves to collect every single type of stormtrooper helmet available, good and bad? It would have to include every crappy version available from Halloween costumes as well as the best of the best that are available through members here. I just think it would be interesting to see a photo of a wall of different helmets to see just how many versions are out there. It would take a person who loves Stormtroopers so much that they can even see the beauty in the bad helmets and be willing to buy them as well.

TK-3914 Requesting EIB Status.[83][ATA]
bluehickey replied to Sgt JB's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Looks awesome, fits you well. -
I made the cut to the cod and the butt piece and it was soooo worth it. If you are going to do it, make sure to put a strap from the cod to the butt piece with a snap, that way it's nice and snug. This is my pet peeve: not only is the cod piece not cut, but it clearly isn't attached to anything and looks like nasty private body part hanging down Don't let this happen to you! ---------

Actually there is some wiggle room with the 501st status. In our garrison we asked if children could come as Jawas or Ewoks and the shows producers said 'yes, as long as they are over the age of 12'. The kids are obviously NOT 501st members, but still had to submit pics too, so it might be worth asking if you can come.

I had to post this mission report from the 501st Legion forums. This report was written by a 501st member that trooped the Anaheim show on Oct 1st: Event Rundown: Upon arrival there was a comped parking gate list with our names on it and we were directed as to where to park. The event organizer was very friendly and escorted us to our dressing room. Most troopers arrived between 1 and 2 1/2 hours earlier before the show, which the organizers really appreciated. We were given a very nice conference room to change in that was centrally located and had plenty of room to change and store our bins. Water and food was not provided by the event staff. Thinking that might be a possibility I brought an ice chest with plenty of waters for our troopers. You guys might want to do the same unless the event organizers tell you otherwise. By 5:30pm a good amount of us went down for photo ops. (5:30pm is when the VIP's are let in, 6/6:30pm for everyone else) From the minute you step out in costume 'till the minute the show starts you will be taking pictures NON-STOP. The fans were VERY excited to take pics and interact with us. Find a wall and plan on making camp there. Your best bet are the the large backdrops scattered through the exhibit. Bring wranglers! I would say one for every 5-10 troopers is needed. Im sure we could of brought our little ewoks and/or jawas and they we of been ok with it. BUT keep in mind this is NON-STOP photos. It might be hard to get your little ones away from the crowd if they need a break. So keep that in mind. Souvenirs were a little rich for my blood. Programs were $30 and t-shirts ran from $35-45. 10 minutes before the show started the event organizer gathered us all up and made sure we had seats for the concert. Our seats were AWESOME. They were in the middle in front the show. The first 45 minutes of the show was SPECTACULAR! Im sure im not the only one who got shivers up there spine when the main theme and Imperial march played. After 45 minutes, they had about a 30 minute intermission. Our troops went back at it again. Once again standing for non-stop photo ops. Intermission ended and we got back to our seats. The last 45 minutes were killer. Lazers, smoke, and the orchestra wowed everyone in attendance. Once again, our troopers went back out after the show for about another 30-45 minutes for non-stop photo ops. The crowd fizzled down after about 30-45 minutes later and we called it a night. The event organizer came up to the dressing room and thanked us. They were very grateful and appreciated us very much. We made ALOT of kids and big-kids smile! And getting to see the concert was the cherry on top. Good troop guys and gals! AND a very big THANK YOU to our wranglers! ____________ I'll be trooping the Salt Lake City show on October 16th and am totally excited!

Classified Record TK#'s?
bluehickey replied to TrooperMike's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Why would they preserve the numbers for removed/banned members? Oh, I guess if they alert everyone that TK 500 for example is banned and then hand out his number to someone new, the new guy would get treated poorly. Guess I answered my own question. -
Is there anything in the ending credits of the films that actually lists the Stormtroopers and who played them?

TK-7580 requesting EIB (ANH Stunt).[82][PT]

What's going on with the back of the lower legs? They look like they are coming apart at the top in the back view. -
It says "copyright 2009" at the bottom of the web page.

$49 bucks is a steal!

Or the 501st could just lower their standards and allow the Elvis/Mariachi boots for trooping in!
