  1. definately go with the MRCE. However be aware that if you have a big head and you put a skullworx in it you may not be able to fit in it. I've got a Skullworx in mine with the mike and electronics and fans and new padding and it is a tight fit on me. I am 5' 11. My buddy Jeff TK9298, who is about 6 foot 2, can't even get my helmet halfway on.
  2. He should be made an honorary member of the 501st. Why? I dunno, cause it would be cool. Maybe they would put it on the show.
  3. If you connect it in front you might want to cut the length some. Mine has about 5 inches which is connected to the ABS belt on one side. Then it wraps around the back and about 5 more inches go behind the ABS belt on the other side and velcroes to it again. I covered the entire inside part of the ABS belt with the fuzzy part of the industrial velcro. I hoped that would add a little strength to the ABS belt for bending purposes....If that makes any sense.
  4. My belt is exactly the same as yours. However mine velcroes together behind the ABS belt in the front therefore no seams. You might try that.
  5. small strips of ABS, then glue the ABS to your armor
  6. How about yellowing over time? Any idea on that?
  7. Man, I could REALLY use another pair of size 9's.
  8. That IS way cool. You say it bends well, have you tried to tear it? Will it rip?
  9. Pretty much the same except everywhere I put a snap I put two snaps, one male to female, the other female to male. Helps hold together a little better and if one snap pops open you've got a back up still holding it together.
  10. Amen to that brother.
  11. It wasn't my armor, it was something else. Like I said, $4.00 is good, anything less is junk. And yeah, I'm thouroughly PO'ed. I already admitted it was poor judgement on my part, you don't have to rub it in... Just trying to pass on a learned lesson....
  12. I can't express this topic enough--NEVER EVER EVER buy cheap spray paint for anything you are painting!!!!!If you are paying less than $4.00 for a can of spray paint you are probably getting crap. I have been painting stuff for 30 years and I never seem to learn the lesson. Was just painting something and went to the paint closet where I have probably 50 cans or more of spray paint I've accumulated--grabbed the first can of flat black I saw, totally ruined what I was working on. Some cheap spray paints come out like tempora paint or are full of little "silly string" sh1t or splatter all over the place... Worst of all is a paint called "Color Place". It's like 98 cents at Walmart. Most godawful paint in the universe!!! I seem to have about 20 cans of this junk I've bought over the years. Chunk all of it!!! It drys very powdery. Ain't worth a crap!!!! You get what you pay for.
  13. I am fixing to redo my shoulder straps also. I originally riveted mine and I don't like it. I'm going to add the webbing straps and use new abs shoulder straps. The new ones will cover the rivet holes. My question is should the abs straps be connected or maybe just velcro on. I had them only riveted on the front and am always worried about packing my armor. Always afraid they will break off during transport. Anybody not permenatly connect their abs shoulder straps at all?
  14. The static burst was not started with "Troops" ... I have followed this since 1977. The staitc burst is from the original "New Hope" ... I smuggled a tape recorder in the movie theater in 1977 . The static burst is there. Kkkk. Psssk. Don't tell me it is not there.
  15. Do you have to punch the button every time you speak? If so, I can't see it being practical unless you have some eletronic knowledge of how to make it voice activated. It would be cool if someone can fix it that way and put it in a TK bucket.
  16. Here's a way I used for snaps. Everywhere you put them--just use two. One in front of the other. Also alternate them. One male to female, the other female to male. This gives extra strength against the tension. I've never had any problem using this system.
  17. That's really COOL, reminds me of a cereal commercial......
  18. I would not go for any snaps showing.
  19. You got a right handed one with your FX? Mine was for the left hand. I thought that was canon because of the clip. I'm a lefty anyway.
  20. Be careful if you use gorilla glue. That stuff foams up and will seep out the edges if you're not careful. If it does seep out and dries, you'll never get it off.
  21. Give us a buzz when you get to Mississippi. We would love to meet you.
  22. Not sure, never used it. I would test it on some scrap ABS first. Check the label for proper ventilation. Fumes might be bad. You don't want to be wasted putting it together. I drank too much vodka one night while putting mine together. Cutting knife slipped, ended up in the emergency room with 7 stitches. OUCH!!
  23. Yep, that's it. The pic you posted.
  24. DEVCON is the brand name I use. In Walmart it is in the glue and tape section of hardware with the duct tape and stuff. Not with the pencils and school glue. It is called Devcon Plastic Welder. It looks like two syringes made together side by side. If I recall it was about 4 bucks a pack. I went thru SEVERAL of these putting my suit together. I'd buy at least 4 to get started. Nothing worse than getting on a building roll and run out of glue. You squirt it out together. Best to squirt it into the plastic cover it comes in. Don't squirt it on your wife's plates, she will kill you. Whatever you use it is pretty much garbage after you're thru. Then you stir it up real good. Let it set for about 2 or 3 minutes to start to set up. Apply to your armor in the appropriate place. I would highly reccomens scoring the places you are gluing. It gives the glue something to grab ahold of. Makes a better bond. But you don't have to. Clamp your stuff together firmly. Stuff sets in about 10 to 15 minutes. Bond is tighter-n-all get out!!. In about an hour you can remove the clamps.
