Thank you all for your kind words. This is the hardest thing I've ever been through. There isn't a minute of the day that I do not think of her. Everything I see or do reminds me of her. Can't watch any of "our" tv shows, can't listen to music hardly anymore. Can't watch horror movies anymore. Right now anything with death in it is unbearable. I find that I am now scared to pieces when I get behind the wheel of a car. Every one tells me to remember the good times we had but even that is too painful. It just makes me realize we will never do those things again. I've never really lost anyone close to me before,I do not know how to deal with this. The pain is unbearable, it's like a rusty knife twisting in my heart every minute of every day. But, I guess I will survive. Thanks for your support.

My girlfriend of 4 years was killed October 31st at 7pm in a tragic car accident. She was on the interstate and her car went dead. No lights or anything. She could not even get to the shoulder. Another car stopped behind her to help. Melanie was getting out to get her emergency kit when a third car veered around the car behind her and swung back in at 70 mph and struck her. She was DOA at the hospital. I was not with her at the time. I received the call about 9pm. We were going to announce our engagement at Christmas as a wonderful present to our families. We wanted to get married and start a family. Now all those dreams are gone. Her poor daughter had just gotten married 4 weeks earlier. Also, her daughter's 20th birthday was the day before the funeral. Melanie was getting her master's degree in art. Her family and I set up a memorial scholarship in her name. I think she would have liked that. I feel like my life is over. The pain gets worse every day. The days just seem to blur together. Melanie was a brilliant artist and sculptor. Whenever I see the sky now I just think of her painting the sunsets and sculpting the clouds. Please think of her next time you see a beautiful sky.

Was watching ANH the other night and something crossed my mind. In the control room on the Death Star when Luke and Han are arguing about whether to rescue Liea, Han is able to not only sit down EASILY he is able to raise his legs up on to the counter!! Not only do I have trouble sitting down period--raising my legs up is darn near impossible. Were the original suits really floppy (kinda like what I imagine the Rubies suit is)?

I was the same exact way as a kid and in High school. It wasn't until I got into college and became an Art major that I found out there were a LOT of people weirder than me.

Laspector replied to Bromancelot's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I only seem to have this problem on my elbows -
Really? Once I cut mine I've never had a pinchy pie since.

Oooooo I dunno, I've never tried to break it. I've heard something about freezing it tho.

I cut out some of mine on the forearm on the U part and it helped a lot.

Need help with my Thermal Detonator

Best to have someone help with the helmet. You just about have to have four hands to do it. At least I did. -
What suspender system do you prefer????
Laspector replied to TK-8687's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Actual clamp suspenders for me. I cut four little slots in the top of the ab pieces (front and back) for the clamps to fit into. Also had to shorten the suspenders a little. -
Need help with my Thermal Detonator
Laspector replied to jah5150's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
you could always try using a shim. Get a piece of ABS and lay it on something that is relatively the same roundness as the detonator and then use a heat gun to bend it then glue it in. As always I recomend Devcon plastic welder. -
Are you really Amish?

Helmet and Blaster needed

I like my MR -
The above posts are definately the main perks for this hobby, but the number 2 reason is, hands down, just knowing how COOL you look in the armor!!!!

speaking of cell phones-- I HATE when people walk around with that damn bluetooth earpiece talking on their phones.. I'm sorry but you look like an IDIOT walking around talking to the air. My boss never takes his off.You can't tell if he's talking to you or someone else. Half the time he'll be talking to me and all of a sudden the conversation we were having makes no sense until I realize he's talking to somebody else and doesn't even have the decency to tell me what he is doing. I just want to take a sledgehammer to people with those things.

I've never watched this show before. it took me the whole show just to understand how the game works.

pianting trap's & other grey & black bit's
Laspector replied to riveting's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Painting straight lines free handed is damn near impossible. I've been an artist all my life and I doubt I could do it. But some people can so what do I know? Maybe you could use some car pin stripping or something for the lines. -
I have a question and forgive me or delete this if it has been discussed before. I know that a lot of the original people that wore the suits in ANH have been found. My question is--did these people actually do their own voice overs or was it all just Ben Burtt and other ILMers doing the voices?
