TX finished, time for a break
Obievon replied to Obievon's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Thanks, It was challenging for my first build. Here is a shot from the front. Man this thing is hard to take pictures of. Like a black mirror. This is the TE2 helmet. I still have the ATA in the making process, (color sanding and detail painting). I'll post some finished pictures when I'm done. I hope to send in my pics to the 501st and get excepted. -
Great explanation .

Brian, put me on your list for a signed copy. Thanks!

P,M, sent. I'll take a set. Thanks for all your help man

Just look and you can see. Study up before you plunge, and like others have said for the price you can get a more screen accurate set of armor. ATA for one.

Thanks for the info. I've surfed over there before just was never able to post. It can get a little heated at time and one sided, but there is some good info over there.

TX finished, time for a break

Thanks, I have been posting over on the Spec Ops just not much going on over there. I am looking forward to going for my TX number with the 501st. Then I plan on hooking up with the 70th. TK is in the box waiting. I do plan on taking my time on him. This was a rush job. (More than I wanted too, for the young-uns Halloween escort) I do plan on getting some better picture soon............time flies Some of my Pictures on Flickr -
Finally got the finishing touches completed today. I still have a little tweaking on the fit, but all in all not bad. Here is a picture of my first fitting. I know it's a TX but I wouldn't have been able to complete it if it wasn't for all the help I got here on the FISD. Thanks to everyone that helped this newbie out. I think I'll take a little break then I'll start on the TK. Do you think I can get in the 501st with this TX? I'll try to get some better pictures soon.

Dark_GTI04's ATA build[*ATA]
Obievon replied to DarkTrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
That is great, I'll be watching your build. I was telling a friend that ATA seems to be the way to go to get into a set of armor, can't beat the quality for the price, from what it looks like. Keep us informed. -
Having been ther done that ....you nailed it for me. I must admit I've made the mistake of the bay. I didn't know where else to ge to find armor. I've spent my money on what I've come to find to be recast, until I found this site I was ignorant to the facts, and gullible. If I had known I would have rather spent my money on first run casting and not the reduced xerox copy. I can only blame myself and learn from my mistakes. I have friends that value my opinions as well as I'm sure others here. With the help of the members here on the FISD I have found valued armor and can give educated advice to other would be consumers. I guess what I'm trying to say is, at sometime weren't we all new at something and made mistakes. Then a friend came along and you asked for a opinion or advice. That advice might have saved you from making another mistake. That is what friends are for, and that is what the FISD can do. Thanks to everyone here that has taken the time ( with dicussions like this )to help this newbie learn a little more.

Okay I'll bite for the sake of a discussion. What is the general opinion if someone improves on a design. Let say takes a part and improves the apperance or improves the mold to make a better detailed piece. (ex: Helmet, chest plate detail, shoulder bell edges ) Would this be considered recast? Does the person have to start from scratch to be a original cast? Off the top of my head.... someone uses a helmet that is already out there then cleans it up. Makes it really sharp puts all the bells and whistle to improve the look makes a mold from thier improved piece. Casts a buck, pulls the helmet. Recaster? What say yee? or

How I closed the side gaps on my TX
Obievon replied to Obievon's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Oh and one thing, yes there is a-lot of area there. I only needed to close off 2", but I thought I could add more area for the velcro to attach on the inside. And there is no problem holding. -
Okay this is what I did today, First I took a No Parking sign, (got it from Lowe's) cut it to fit and fill the gap by using armor on Monkey Dummy. Then I glued some cloth that I found at the fabric store by using spray glue and e6000 (spray both pieces let set, then apply dry on dry and e600o the edges, it's not coming off) Applied some cool gator design felt on the inside (My thinking is it should help hold the upper pieces in place and it protects my under armor.) Pop rivet the sides on . Then went back in and cover the rivets on the inside with cut out felt and e6000. Okay over kill, maybe? Look cool? Yes. ( I think ) Hey it's a TX what can I say?? I'm heading back to the old grindstone (work). I did get a-lot done the last few days. Almost there. Thanks for putting up with my rantings and I know it's a TX, but wait I'll start on a TK right after this one. I promise!!
