Hi! I was a bit worried as the lid is made of HIPS. Therefore I took some leftover plastic from the trimming and tested if there would be trouble. It was no problem at all, thank god... The faceplate plastic is thicker compaired to my ATA, so I guess that could be a good thing. I suggest people try on something else before doing the lid (thats a good advice in many cases). -----------

Hey guys! Ive finally decided to join the 501st. After alot of thinking I decided to go for the TIE pilot. Its one of my top fav designs. The mean black TK face with the pilot helmet looks totally awesome. I want to try the movie accurate route and heres my DA helmet so far. Cut and assembly trying to replicate the originals. Selfmade bubble lenses. Padding and chin strap original style. Correct cut forehead below the mohawk. Rough edge white decals with a few bubbles and wrinkles. Next is glue some rubber rim on and make a pillbox. Cheers

Id like to ad that rebels aim to kill more in the film. When troopers try to take the enemy alive. Leia at Tantive, Han and Leia at Endor bunker, Besbin (and now Ill add DS 1 after reading this thread). The rebs gun down imps every chance they got, bloodthirsty terrorists! The explanation that the troopers had orders not to kill at DS 1 makes perfect sense!

Very nice! Did you use liquid latex masker for the flakings? I love the HDPE color tone. Is it a HDPE or is it painted?

LOL I second that. Mr No Stripes is all over ANH. Hes searching the MF. Hes shooting at Luke and Leia before they jump, etc... He really should be accepted.

LOL, I guess Im the only one having love for Lucas nowadays. Im glad he releases new stuff as it keeps the franchise fresch and alive. Eg Im pretty sure the fan community wouldnt be so big now if it werent for the prequels, yet fans bash them all the time. Bah, time to go rewatch ROTS.

I enjoyed the first one, its not my fav SW game though. I found the story to be ok, but Id like more adventure in it and less hack n slash. Well I enjoy RPG games the most, so I guess a genuine KOTOR game would be on my wish list.

Yeah I agree on the close ups. The TIE-pilots used green (and grey?) hero lenses though. Perhaps the dark TIE weenie pits and black suits made the film crew use alot of light, making us see through the lenses. Heres a pic of a grey lensed TIE Pilot (from starwarshelmets). ------------

We all know the stunt troopers had thin green acetate in ANH/ESB. Judging by pics it seems quite see through. Im wondering why we dont see the eyes through the lenses. We see Vaders in his TIE. Theres pics showing TIE pilot eyes also. But to my knowledge theres no trooper eyes showing. Is the material darker than it appears on the pics or what?

Looking good there Andy! You really got the chipped HDPE look perfectly. Love the traps also. Very ANH! Have you dyed the padding, or is it original color? Also do you have a pic of it straight from the side?

I hear ya. I get that the kids wouldnt like their heros to wear gaffa and all, but just for the sake of argument, isnt the overall wonkyness a flaw then? Im just curious where the line goes. Ive seen wonky brows and flakings so I guess thats ok. Ive started to wonder if Mr Nostripe is some kind of a gag, as the helmet is used in at least 3 different closeup scenes. What are the odds of that not being on purpose?

Hey everyone! I was talking to a bud about the original stormtrooper armor and how dodgy the helmet painting and assembly is. I for one love that look! It got me thinking though. How close to the originals can you be and still be accepted in the FISD? Can you do Mr No Stripe? That guy is all over ANH (he must have been busy lol). No brow? Like one at Tatooine. Gaffa tape? Those are all over? Dodgy eye cuts? Runnings and flaking on helmet? I guess Im basically asking if a non idealized trooper would be welcome. Once you know about these things you see them in the films all the time.

Looking good! I only know helmets, but from the pics it looks fine for 501st (if the rules havent changed). If I was gonna do a CE in ESB style, I would paint the vocorder in the same flat black as the frown, but thats just me. Cute kid! Looks like my son when he gets hold of any SW stuff, lol!
