  1. I agree that little to no ridge is the way to go. You’ll have a bit of ridge showing because of the soft return edge of the ridge, and that’s perfectly fine. You don’t want the coverstrip to overhang the edge of the ridge, so they might end up being 18 or 19 mm anyways. Depends how you measured it when you trimmed.
  2. Looks good to me. If you can stick a finger between your armour and your arm (when straight out slightly bent) you should have enough room.
  3. Yes. I found I had to give the right forearm a hot water bath to change the shape of the elbow opening. It is oblong in the wrong direction... if that makes any sense. Without the bath, it will still fit but because it is tight it may want to rotate and sit funny while you are trooping. Looking good so far. Keep it up!
  4. Hey Ryan, it’s pretty normal for the hand to be snug going through the wrist opening. The elbows are a bit weird and can be adjusted with a hot water bath. Don’t get hung up on the 15mm. Make the arms fit. Just keep all of your arm cover strips the same size – so that the biceps and the forearms have the same size cover strips. Another trick is to have slightly larger cover strips on the front, let’s say 17 mm, and then larger cover strips on the back like 19 mm or something. so yeah, I would trim to the 10 mm per side and see how it feels from there. Be sure to wear something underneath about the same size as your under suit. good luck.
  5. Congrats on pulling the trigger on a kit! Good luck on your build.
  6. Welcome to the FISD! Congrats on your purchase. Good choice!
  7. Good luck with your build! Post lots of pictures. Oh, keep in mind that ABS paste does not have much strength - it is mostly a cosmetic fix. You might want to reinforce the crack on the back with a piece of ABS glued to inside of the helmet or even a bit of old t-shirt material and CA glue (lazy man's fiberglass). I guess it depends on the severity of the crack.
  8. Hi Joseph, Yeah, the original armour was designed for troopers about 5'10 and about 160 lbs - so some of the vendors' kits will look small on you. There are a couple vendors who make oversized parts. RT-Mod and AM come to mind. Check out the below link. Also, browse through the build section - there are a few builds completed by troopers your size using various kits. Good luck.
  9. Welcome aboard, Juan! Let us know if you have any questions - we are here to help!
  10. Congrats for starting the journey to TK! It's a blast! Post lots of pictures and ask lots of questions - we are here to help. You will want to get a Imgur or Tapatalk or... whatever account to host pictures. The forum does not allow a lot of room for images. Here is a link for Imgur. Tapatalk can be more buggy (in my experience) but you can post directly from your phone.
  11. Welcome to the FISD! Congrats on the purchase. Very exciting indeed!
  12. Congrats on your purchase and welcome the FISD. ESB is the best film! I don't know how much research you've put into this so far, but the following pic shows some fundamental (and maybe dated?) differences between ANH and ESB troopers. The main thing is the hand guards - I don't know if WTF includes ESB style hand guards. Good luck with the build.
  13. Hi Scott and welcome to the FISD! AP is a great kit - I have two. I have details on how I trimmed it documented in one of my builds. If you are interested - let me know and I'll make sure you get the link. Enjoy your mid-life non-crisis. You picked a great way to deal with it. lol.
  14. Hi. Congrats for starting your build! A really good resource for building is this: This is a really detailed account of building the Anovos kit. For adhesive, it depends what you are trying to glue, but many of us use E-6000. You don't technically need a blaster for basic approval - but what trooper doesn't have a blaster, right? Post some pics and we'll let you know (you will need a imgur or tapatalk (or something similar) account to post pics on the forums). There are a few vendors that offer good belts. Check out the for-sale section: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-runs/ Good luck with your build.
  15. Hummm. I don't know... I don't like that brow height.
  16. Hi Jorge, welcome to the FISD. Check out this post: As far as I know, SDS ships to the US. If I were you, I would check out some north american vendors first - there are some very good kits here and you will avoid shipping charges. That said, if you are looking overseas, there are a number of very good vendors there - RS, TM, and RWA (which I know less about, but people seem happy with them). Happy hunting!
  17. Welcome to the FISD! Trooping as a TK is awesome, you are gonna love it.
  18. Lol. I did the exact same thing. It might be easiest to just re-order decals or... you could consider painting (more screen accurate - wink wink). Yeah, those last few stripes under the ear should go. Looking good otherwise.
  19. Welcome to the FISD, Mark. You're in good hands with Dan - your tube stripes will be flawless and your brow will be suitably located. Seriously though, with Dan's guidance you'll have no problem reaching Centurion.
  20. Good start! First cut is the hardest part - well, sort of.
  21. Hi and welcome to the FISD! Do you know which kind of trooper you want to build (original trilogy, new trilogy, etc)? Check out the CRL list for some ideas if you have not yet decided. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRL For the costumes specific to this detachment, here is a direct link: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Cheers
