  1. You’ve done such a good job painting the rest, I’d definitely go templates. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hi there. I’ve seen some use masking tape and others use stencils, however I ended up hand painting mine. The originals are not perfect circles, or even the same size in places, so there’s quite a bit of leeway. Here’s a nice reference shot. :-)
  3. Hi mate, Tube stripes - yours are looking good now. The tube stripes were pretty consistent across the original trilogy, although the ESB and ROTJ lids used stickers/decals rather than hand painted. A very popular style of template is the Dave M style. Here’s some dims for your reference. Regarding the ear screws, a little bit of countersinking is good, just be careful not to go through plastic to a point where the screw won’t have resistance. You can see here on the “Dave M / set for stun” helmet that the screws are countersunk - not all the way but just enough not to be poking out. Hope that helps. Keep up the good work. Dan
  4. Hi Daniel Looking awesome, as always!! [emoji1] Just a quick question - how will this stand up to a wet troop? Are you sealing the weathering with something on top of the hairspray? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi Robyn, Great job on your armour! I don’t think you’ll struggle with basic clearance at all. Once you’re cleared, I’d certainly recommend applying for EIB and Centurion. It looks like you’re on target for the top. Best wishes Dan
  6. Hi Tuomas. Welcome to the FISD! :-) Feel free to ask any questions. There are loads of folks here happy to help. If you haven’t already, check out some the Approved Centurion applications, especially those from RS Prop Masters, to see what can be achieved with that awesome set of armour. Remember, no question is a silly question - we’re here to help. :-) Best wishes Dan
  7. Looking great! Really nice fit. [emoji1303] Those suggestion you made (thighs, belt, shin twist etc) are easy fixes so it looks like your well on the way to clearance. :-) Have you got the shin fix remedies lined up? (Velcro front and/or poppers at back are god options) :-)
  8. Yep - gloves on last. [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Following. I love a good blaster build. :-)
  10. Hiya, Just a quick heads up - the raised detail/ridge goes on the top of the forearm. Based on that, just switch this one to the other forearm. :-) Example below with the ridge on the top of Han’s right forearm. :-) Dan
  11. I wouldn’t worry too much about it just yet. When you start strapping on the chest and back, you’ll get more feel for the whole thing. It’s early days - you’ll get there. :-)
  12. Ah, I see what you mean - the curve on the kidney plate... Yours seems to have a bit of a curve. Have you looked at any other AM builds for tips on how they cut theirs? :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Looking better like that [emoji1303] Some of the more experienced builders might be able to offer guidance if you wanted to add he kidney notch. (If I’m reading correctly, it is not required for any level of clearance but is listed as optional for Centurion). Most of the time the notch is covered by he canvas belt, anyway. :-)
  14. Do you mean the notch highlighted here: That was a feature of the original armour. Whilst they might not be 100% straight down, they are pretty close. :-)
  15. Great tip!! Added to Amazon basket/cart.
  16. Welcome, Martin. Don't be too concerned about your slim size. Here’s a link to a friend of mine in the UKG - he reached Expert Infantry with his armour and he’s around 5kg lighter than you. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/43754-tk-89135-requesting-anh-stunt-eib-status-rwa-792/ And remember, rather than going for screen accurate sizes across the kit, TKUK appear to oversize certain parts to fit a wider range of body shapes/sizes, leaving the wearer to adjust to suit. This means that some of the parts you have received will be bigger than other builds you might be looking at here on FISD. This means you’ll have to cut down certain pieces to fit your frame. You might be wise to check out some other builds from this supplier for hints and tips (such as correcting the shape of the ammo belt). Best of luck with your build.
  17. To get nice clean sides, I think you’ll want to cut nice and straight, rather than at an angle like you’ve marked. You can see that where the rivets go is parallel to the ab detailing and the line of the kidney. (Hope that makes sense) :-)
  18. Hi Freddy, I’ve got two lids and neither have hah any paint issues. My trooping helmet has done many hours now and no issues to speak of. I think you’ll only really get a problem from a specific hit or drop - day to day use you should be A-Okay without a top coat. :-)
  19. Stunning!! I really like the subtle weathering. As Tino said, the small details make all the difference and you've ended up with a top notch blaster.
  20. Welcome aboard, Alex!! Don’t to too anxious - we all have to start somewhere. The key is to do lots of research. Before you start cutting, have a plan. Check out lots of build threads here on FISD, approved Centurion applications, video tutorials etc. This way, you’ll have a solid idea of what you want to achieve before you start cutting anything. Here a couple of handy links: Supplies: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31404-supply-list-for-your-tk-build/ EIB and Centurion: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35371-eib-and-centurion-what-do-these-terms-mean/ General info: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/38-getting-started-read-this-first/ And the the biggest things to help you build a great set of armour are to do lots of research and ask lots of questions. We’re here to help. Best wishes Dan
  21. It might be an idea to check out a few other build threads and see how much return you like the look of. As the others said, it’s more of a personal preference. The screen used suits are a little battered but still give a good idea of how they were on screen. :-)
  22. Here’s a screen used top of shin. I’m guessing that’s 2-3mm in places. Personally, I left around 4-5mm on mine. :-)
  23. Wrist end of forearm. ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Much neater. Nice work. :-)
