  1. When it comes to paint, It's different strokes for different folks. get it? paint-strokes? er um anyway moving right along; Whatever you use remember if it removes paint, it removes plastic. Like Ed mentioned, Novus is good. You might mask your painted area so you don't get overbuff. I've also used an exacto to gently scrape away any unwanted paint. I did this on my RTmod frown and got a very clean edge.
  2. My personal favorite at this time is Krylon fusion. It comes in lots of colors. They have four or five shades of black. They came out with a primer for sanding and filling not too long ago. Love the stuff. It bonds to most plastic. I can seem to find it everywhere but Home Depot. Check it out http://krylon.com/main/product_template.cf...roduct_details#
  3. 2 cool.
  4. I've pretty much stayed out of this because I really had no oppinion one way or the other. I like the idea of having a higher standard for deployed/elite stattus, but one might consider also that it's sometimes not practical to carry a more accurate blaster; I'm not sure what a converted sterling weighs, but I do know I wouldn't want to troop with one. I bought a very nice accurate fan built blaster that lasted 3 troops before I retired it from breakage. I personally enjoy my hasbro conversion. It's light, easy to handle, good for righties and lefties. I took the time to convert a toy into something completely different. To me that's costuming. Most of all, I can hand it to a kid for a picture.
  5. Thanks for bringing that up Paul <_< I plan on full RT here shortly. Rob gave me a pretty nice quote for an untrimmed set.
  6. That is what I have right now and I'm happy with it.

    DVD interest list

SlyFox can take care of that. One could rip it into an ISO and keep all that junk out.

    DVD interest list

I haven't found one yet that couldn't be coppied. As far as I know ther's no such thing.
  9. What a lucky kid to have such an awesome stormtrooper daddy. My Owen is only three, so I have time still. My oldest (17) wants a fett. Go figure.
  10. Oops. I thought they were like the ones I have. I'll shut up now.
  11. Did Ed mention dirt? More dirt.
  12. Saddle soap works great. You can get an equivilent at any shoe store. white shoe die works well after you wash them. That's the beauty of leather.
  13. I just scored one this month. All I've done so far is cut out the visor cause I was tired of looking at it. Since I wont be doing royal gaurd any time soon ever, I'll just use it for display. Nice helmet though.
  14. Jay is right. You have it wired wrong. It should be wired like this:
  15. Sadly that is the case at this time:( However, I do intend on making the parts available. I have long respect for those who want to build their own, and I understand that building a vac table and ordering plastic is a tall order for a sound system. I need to get my hands on a rom fx so I can build a mould for it. I don't even know how the rom gets wired. Also, it takes different batteries than my system, so I would have to come up with new battery boxes or a cover for the boxes it comes with. A whole different project:/
  16. well I'm sure glad we have options other than the "screen accurate" armor, because I would be embarrassed to wear it with all the bumps, wrinkles, uneven parts and imperfections. Do you "screen accurate guys" let your parts flop around and come undone? do you use tape and twist ties, bailing wire and bubblegum just like they did for the movie? Do you not even bother sealing up the back of you calf pieces? I like my armor to appear as a stormtrooper was intended to look. Clean and perfect with no bumps or wrinkles. Remember folks, they were meant to be seen on film, not trooping out among fans. I have never yet had one of our fans tell me that my RT is not screen accurate. My .02

    Toy blaster?

The hasbro blaster mods up very well inteed. I have a fan built E11; very acurate with foldable stock. However I found it easier to troop with my hasbro because of weight and durability. . I don't worry if I drop it or let kids hold it for pics.
  18. That's to cool. Thanks for posting that.
  19. Yes, But only on my end. Testing is done, my moulds are done and parts have been ordered. I am also awaiting a shipment of plastic.
  20. Any powered mic you can get will cause feedback. My favorite mic is a tiny super condensed mic. Like the ones they put in the spy ear. It has a good stormtrooper sound to it. I use big 4 inch speakers in my sound system. I can turn it up all the way with no feedback whatsoever.
  21. I forgot the rest of my post. When I built this kit I wondered why the missmatched parts. I've heard a couple different reasons for this, but nothing certain. Thought Armor History would be a good spot to ask this question.
  22. I guess I should have taken more pics. ------------
  23. I try to keep my bucket on. When it comes off and a fan looks inside, it enhances the "image" . I contemplated doing it up like the one in the visual dictionary, but it just doesn't seem practical. Again, thanks for the comliments.
  24. I used a roll-on truck bed liner. Looks sharp. Makes a bucket more solid and doesn't "squeek" when you handle it.
  25. This was a quicky mind you. I built the belt mould in under 20 minutes. But hey, it worked for what I needed. I had to break it to get it out. If I do it again I'll cut each block separately with the right pitch/angle. This one I made out of pre cut trim.
