  1. The one and only set of molds that were taken directly from the inside of the Cameron Oakley original armor pieces (which is what you would need to produce truly accurate parts) have been in my possession since the early 2000s. I'd like to borrow them for one week.
  2. You guys keep posting pics of the outside of the armor. I can only tell when looking at the inside, where it might have originated from. From what I heard from the panel at Anaheim, they had been working from several sources to get their molds. They told me that they were using the best parts from the existing kits, which I believe they have. They just have not been forthcoming as to the where or who they got them from. I hate to say it, but that is their prerogative. What it comes down to is "do you like the armor and what they have done to it"? I've been trooping in mismatched armor ever since I started. Even with my ATA, there are some parts that wore out and I had to cast myself, like the belt and butt plate. Vern, I can make neither heads nor tails from your "side by side comparison". I realize that you were in a hurry and just snapped some shots, but the title of your thread is very misleading. In your own admission you said that you knew that this thread was going to go this way. I was hoping for something more definitive and not just another argument based largely on opinion and little on fact. If you like it, then troop on brother. It's better than FX.
  3. I use rubbing alcohol like Terry mentioned. I use charcoal lighter fluid on unpainted plastic. Or you can leave it the way it is, which is also screen accurate.
  4. Yeah me too. I honestly didn't expect to see anything close to the original troopers that we know
  5. Only one class has a right to an opinion, and that would be the class that you agree with ?
  6. LOL. I thought the same. Some even looked like rubies. Soon, you will be able to join with just about anything.
  7. I've used a lot of different "shiny" material when making neckseals and my first run of cloth gaskets. As long as it has a sheen to it, it should be fine. Underarmuor has a rubbery sheen to it. Sorry about the wait time for gaskets, but I promise they're worth it.
  8. Is this a prequel, or a post prequel?
  9. http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2016/01/09/j-j-abrams-says-no-the-force-awakens-directors-cut-forthcoming/ What happened to "it will be much better explained with the release of the Blu-Ray and the extra footage". We got what, 5 deleted scenes on the bonus disk? But hey, if you paid early, you got a limited edition BB-8 sticker. I don't know who I hate more at this point- Disney, JJ or George. But I got to troop on. I still have my OTC OG and that's what put me here. Star wars just can't get any better than it already is.
  10. Machine wash, hang to dry. Machine wash on delicate, hang out to dry.
  11. it's now available to all that are able to download it. "the truth is out there"
  12. Yes, use the bottle of black rubber cement that is included with the gaskets.
  13. Doing that now. ...don't know what's up with PB.
  14. I have been trying to upload video to photobucket, with no luck. Will try to upload it to the wifes facebook page.
  15. I started with an FX. After I realized the vast difference, I went with ANH armor because it was available to me at a good price.
  16. No arguments from me here. I respect Jim and his hard work that he has shared with this community. Please continue. this is a great post and we all have the need and desire to see it here. If I sound annoyed at the mention of facebook, it's because I don't have a facebook account and it's aggravating to miss so much when I expect to see it here, where it could be.
  17. Thank you, Joe, for allowing me to clarify. I have not, nor have I ever taken part in TFA anovos FB group. As one of the first 75 builders, I was not even allowed access to the private TFA builders group that resided on the legion forum, without first signing a NDA, which I did not. It seems as though that group has movod off of the private legion forum and moved to the so called TFA anovos FB group. I don't even know who the administrators of that group are and I'm not familiar with their rules or charter.
  18. I am! It's in the works now.
  19. come on guys- keep your facebook off the detachment and the detachment off your facebook. Can't you folks see the damage that facebook does to the forums? It's especially detrimental to garrisons. Other than the ease of posting pictures, there's no reason not to share it with the entire detachment.
  20. My magnets do not touch one another. With plastic, they stay separated enough so it's not hard to get apart. Lot less stressful than velcro or snaps.
  21. I didn't know this trooper either, but at the same time, I know you all in a small way.
