  1. As a 145lb 5'7" trooper in a Centurion Walt kit I can say I think his kit will be a great size for you. I personally wouldn't separate the cod as it doesn't affect me at all. If you have any fitting questions feel free to message me on how I went about things. Overall the fit was near perfect.
  2. Edit: I missed you said backplate my gut reaction would be to remove the "shims" since I feel like it would overhaul the shape of the back plate. Do you have any pictures? Have you checked on the MEPD forums as well?
  3. Just had to chime in and I understand the complete overwhelming feeling of building not only a stormtrooper, but a stormtrooper to the highest degree of movie accuracy. I still remember opening my pile of armor and having no clue whatsoever of what I was looking at. Like others have said, I bookmarked dozens of build threads and crossed referenced everything I found with the CRL and just started little by little. I'd spend a few days researching biceps, then forearms, then Calves, thighs, boots, shoulders, back armor, front, belt, helmet, under suit, then fitting it all together. It was a TON of work but what got me through it all was I enjoyed it. I loved the challenge. The hardest part with any new skill is you're always going to start out as a total dummy. I felt the same with my other hobbies and careers in life. But once you start to learn how it all goes together it's a rewarding experience unlike anything else. If it helps I documented my personal build from knowing nothing to approval here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zDc4mtEDg0A_SfHcZXgXtmkzhSrBwaReTHWvdrcmMJg/edit?tab=t.0
  4. Can't go wrong with RS Props. After your approval I hope you share your adventures in a Troop Log: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/13-field-training-exercises/ Let us know if you have any fitting or building questions. You're gonna love being a stormtrooper
  5. Welcome Peter! Let us know if you need any assistance navigating the forums
  6. If/When you pull the trigger the "All in One Index of Resources" linked above is a perfect place to start. I went from zero knowledge to a full kit based on that thread. The absolute best thing you can do though is get into contact with local members to help you out. It really helps to see armor in person

  8. Awesome and honored to be featured in the Hall again
  9. Thanks @revlimiter I missed that he's 6'2". Yeah Walt's will feel small
  10. @Nalowaiian Walt's Trooper Factory (WTF) is the armor I went with. It's vetted and especially great if you're like 5'9" and under since it fits on the smaller side. Walt is close to local for me in NYC so it was a no brainer to pick it up at his shop. I love how bright white his armor is too and it's a perfect thickness. I'd say his armor is shipped a bit more...casually (piled in a box) and sometimes his orders/messages get backed up but he's always followed through for me
  11. Woah nice fit. That thing can be a real pain in the posterior armor and yours looks great. As mentioned you could make the angle a bit more sharp but otherwise I love it
  12. @SenseiFetter Try Rustoleum's "Appliance White" specialty paint. It's that super glossy white color used for a white refrigerator. It's the only white I've found to match scout ABS armor. I tried some on a tk leg patch work and it was perfect. A lot can depend though on which armor you own and how old it is. Give it a shot though and let us know if it works. It'll need plenty of time to dry too by the way but it's very durable
  13. Another option is when you have the money you can buy a fully assembled kit. It will cost more but with patience and saving you can still have a stormtrooper later. Check out RS Props for example. It's probably double or more what SDS costs but it's generally approvable right away. These costumes can take years to build so waiting a few years months to save up money is very common. Best of luck!
  14. Hello and welcome. SDS will take a lot of work but here is a list of some of the parts that require fixing Also here are two SDS conversion threads on what people have done to fix them for approval
  15. As a WTF kit owner I had the same mic tip mesh issue. You're almost there!
  16. Congrats! You can log your troops and milestones here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/13-field-training-exercises/
  17. Can't wait to see it. As mentioned above feel free to post a pre submission post. We might be able to catch a thing or two before submitting to your GML. Once approved we'd love to see photos of your troops that you can post here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/13-field-training-exercises/
  18. I'm from the opposite end of the country so I've been worried when temps drop to the negative teens and twenties. I haven't heard of 100 degree heat being a problem. The worst thing for armor is not cleaning sweat and especially direct sunlight (yellowing). I feel like the armor would hold up but hopefully someone else here knows more
  19. Another Centurion amazing! Stellar job
  20. I think you'll like it! Every armor has its quirks so please reach out with questions. Again I love who bright white Walt's plastic is. It's also not too thick or thin and it just doesn't seem to yellow as easily or at all. The biceps will be tight and the shins are confusing but those are the hardest parts to work with on that kit specifically imo
  21. Congrats @TikiTechie great picture. Also @TKSpartan as a new DO. And of course Chris as Detachment Lead. Looking forward to the year!
  22. I'm 5'7" at 145lbs and height was my main reason for not doing a TK. However buying larger boots and inserting 3" heels makes a difference. I also wear my helmet a bit high (don't tell my Expert Infantry friends lol) and I'm much more in line with my 5'9" troopers. There hasn't been a troop not being called short for a stromtrooper but guess what, not a single kid has said that and we're super heroes to them and that's what matters. As far as budgeting when it comes to hobbies or trips I always ad 50% MORE than what I expect. It's always what ends up happening so I'd make sure you have a nicely saved buffer before diving in. Good luck!
  23. The sniper plate was one of the trickiest parts. I have a WTF kit I just had to use a ton of heavy duty clamps and even then there's still a gap. Still got approved level 3 with it
  24. Welcome and happy to have you
