  1. Hi guys! Some of you might have noticed the banner ObiHahn and I have had in our signature for a while now. Well, this project really came to life this weekend at our annual Garrison gathering at Legoland Germany. Not much to say, a pic of us both in our armour sparked the idea to do a Han and Luke team together, and that's what we came up with. It's both just Han and Luke "light", but some got it anyway. One thing about bubble lenses: They're a MAJOR pain in the backside! Half an hour of trooping in a hero lid will give you a whole world of headache sensation! But I guess you just have to suffer as a hero Enough blabla - Here's some pics:
  2. hey Mark! Hope you're having a great day. I'm sure we'll meet again for more plastic goodness sometime soon
  3. it's not gloss black, it's satin. According to Joe that's what the originals had on them as well
  4. I'll weather it once I'm done with assembly and painting! Don't be such an impatient a very impolite person LOL
  5. I just cut out the eyes a bit more and gaffataped some TE-style bubble lenses into this lid to see what it might look like finished. The lenses don't fit too well, but you get the idea:
  6. Joe told me about it I even saw the prototypes. I totally need a set of those Mike!
  7. it definitely is slimmer - squeezed you could say. Wouldn't say it's smaller or bigger than most my other lids though
  8. Hi guys! Some of you may know that I flew over to London a few weeks back and helped both sskunky and JoeR to form the very first helmets on Joe's moulds. We had some great fun forming all day, and you may have seen the mock-up lid I threw together in the workshop. Obviously I wouldn't leave without my very own kit - I know a lot of you still think ROTJ lids stink, but these are real beauties! Remember, these come from moulds directly cast from an original, and untouched as well! These lids are something special really! Anyway, enough talk, here are some pics of my build so far, the next update will take a while, but this is enough eye candy to start with I'd say Here's how it started: And here's where I'm at now: Next to my TM trooping lid Now the waiting starts for decals, mic tips and bubble lenses...
  9. you posted the wrong image mate
  10. I'm not sure if that is an actual improvement to what they released before... looks kinda awkward to me
  12. Dennis and his ToMatoes...
  13. was just going to say that as well Mark
  14. I think you mean you're not certain - not being serious has a slightly different meaning Ideally the abdomen and kidney plates meet so you can connect them properly - Overlap is much better than black showing though and shouldn't affect EIB status as far as I know
  15. your return edges on all the pieces are also quite huge. The screen used pieces had next to no return edge at all (which is also more comfortable to wear), I'd shorten them. Oh and I often use a dremel to trim parts as well, once you get the hang of it it's a way to do it very accurately
  16. the eyes look a lot better now, maybe cut a little more on the outer edges on both eyes - the teeth need much more trimming, don't be shy! Look at Mark's lid there for inspiration!
  17. looking good already
  18. I know Bill ain't that tall - not sure about hairy though
  19. Hehe, for some odd reason Dennis and I are seen together quite often these days We're now planning to both go hero and be Han and Luke - you wanna be our Chewie?
  20. Oh really? I've heard you went home with him after the event... You know that puts "pain in the ..." in a whole new perspective
  21. And who would be that great looking fella on the right?
  22. nice lid - would go really well with my "Set for Stun" replica... what do you say? You send it to me and I'll display them side by side for just a small monthly fee! Sounds bloody good to me
  23. I joined the 501st back in 2007 with a crappy FX recast armour, combined with a crappy SDS battlespec recast helmet (fiberglass). The armour was so bad, I have absolutely no clue why they allowed me in I did one troop in it, bits kept falling off like every 5 minutes, I was totally gutted. After the event I threw that piece of crap in corner and felt I'd never ever troop again! Instead I did like a million troops with my R2-D2 after that, but eventually got the bug to upgrade my TK - and here I am, still searching for the holy grail (though I feel I'm awfully close by now ).
  24. it's ABS? Nice! Well, same thing for the acrylic capped part. Weird that yours is painted though
  25. Funny indeed. Seeing it's a cheap knockoff of a SDS battlespec... it's hard to get much further away from the "original moulds", but hey, some people seem to buy it!
