  1. as far as I know SDS armor is not painted but acrylic capped HIPS. That's going to be tough to match with spraypaint!
  2. I like them! They look really close to the ones in ANH, well done - and inspiring
  3. I could use like 5 cm more actually, just to get a little more space between the leg parts, but thanks for the compliment mate! However, it's your fault I got my TM, so you can't look that bad in armour really
  4. Looking really good there, Rick! I'm 1,73, so just about the same height as you guys, and I got the chest and back to fit quite well, also by shortening the "bridge" pieces on the back and making the front and back meet, rather than having a gap between them (had to heat and bend the back bridges a little so they would mate well with the chest and follow my shoulders). You can get it to look pretty much like the TKs on screen, even with a few centimeters short of the ideal TK height
  5. so your work finally paid off - looking good trooper!
  6. Ich hatte das auch mal letztes Jahr. Ich habe denen nur meinen Ausweis eingescannt und das wars, dann war auch gut.
  7. sweet job! I'll be looking forward to the final finished pics
  8. what we see is obviously a photoshopped picture of the MR CE helmet with the teeth made black (rather poorly I might add). Guess we'll have to wait and see what the actual product will look like
  9. There are two now, actually. One that has been around for a while, all self sculpted, hand punched hair and the right height as well, amazing costume. And now there's this new one, had his debut at Jedi Con this year. Done by Jörg aka. "Trap Joe" on the RPF, and it's a beauty! It wasn't Chewie at the con, but a "werewookiee", had to do with the con opening movie. Still a fabulous costume!
  10. WAS?! Deutsch? Pfui bah! Dann erklären wir mal den Englischfaulenzern den Infanteriemann Experten
  11. it's in the Gasometer (that huge tower right next to the Arena). They have a space exhibition there. We were invited to go to the press conference for Star Wars: In Concert which was held there. Someone important saw us and asked if we'd like to do a Star Wars theme night with them there. Of course we agreed and now we'll hit the Gasometer with 50 people in costume on May 28th - and have a little exhibition of our own with Star Wars props and all that, will be great I'm sure here's two pics taken of my mate Jens there at the press conference: And the whole gang with Anthony Daniels: Arena is quite a nice place for concerts as well, last band I saw there was the almighty Rush! Oh and Star Wars: In Concert just a few weeks back
  12. Alright! I just finished weathering my TK boots (even tried to simulate the black spots in the dyed elastic bits). Got a small troop tomorrow, I'll ask someone to take pics of the entire weathered suit there
  13. or a CAP-W. ATA derived from the CAP moulds but shrinked slightly - fine if you're not the tallest, but most people here seem to be bigheaded (no pun intended )
  14. Okay, another update - I know it's not exactly screen accurate, but I love the chipped look on my Dave M. replica, but I don't want to troop in it all the time, so I added a few "chips" to my TM lid as well - they're painted on, so if you look closely in real life you'll see it's fake, but I like it for a trooping lid (and I'm not saying the TM ain't good enough for display!)
  15. looks like an early CAP or a VT to me
  16. You're right - you should tighten up those thighs, would make it look even better! Congrats on joining the EIB ranks
  17. Hmm, looks like I was too subtle with the weathering so far, it won't show up on pictures at all, except for the big scuffs. Looks good to the eye though. I'm not sure what to do now, leave it subtle or get it really dirty... tough one, again! LOL edit: Here's a pic, this time not as dark as the one I posted of the chest, you can see it's very very subtle:
  18. Cool, I'll have a look - for now I guess I'll just dirty up my TK boots. Did a few more parts just there - weathering is fun Will take some pics tomorrow!
  19. the only logical step will be getting black boots and paint them up, if I do it that way now I have to do it right. Anyone has a good address for boots? I will try and paint them with Plastidip as well, that stuff is amazing!
  20. Yep you're right... but I like where this is going, so that's cool all I used so far was crayons (black, grey and brown) and water with a little drop of dark grey and black acrylic used as a wash. Oh and my hyperfirm E-11
  21. Well guys, you got me - I started dirtying up the armour. I'm pretty much done with the chest, it's not easy to photograph (especially with my crappy cam, but I tried: what do you think?
  22. Oh boy! You guys continue like that and I'll actually end up doing it It's extremely tempting... I'm off to check screen caps (once again )
  23. I've gazed at that pic for ages already, pondering wether I should just go for it. It looks really nice! I've been there before, when I had that jumbo toy R2-D2 and felt it needed dirt... took time to actually do it though. But now that I have done it, I would never go back - it's probably the same with the TK. I'm scared to mess it up though
  24. Yeah, rubber trim would work - but my hyperfirm E-11 is doing a great job leaving scuff marks already I really try not to be overly careful, so it's starting to dirty up already, but nowhere near to what we see on screen yet. A lot of the weathering on the Dave M replica helmet there was done with crayons by the way - back to the (kindergarden) roots!
