  1. I've been doing some investigation into this myself today, and have a few things I'd like to ask the group on, as well as things to put forward. I'd like to use this as a place to discuss what we're "counting" as a Heavy Weapon Trooper. First of all, as I understand it, the Heavy Weapons Trooper is effectively the "Shock Trooper" class from the Battlefront 1 (2004) and Battlefront 2 (2005) games. I will use this as the basis of my assumption for the ideal HWT. Here's how he appears in both games, screenshotted by me today on a PC install of the games. Battlefront Using that, I'm making the following assumptions for HWT: Pauldron should be orange Scout Blaster is a valid weapon Rocket Launcher is a valid weapon Backpack has an oilpan-esque handle Thermal Detonator is present (though possibly not realistic since real life doesn't clip like the game would) Three pouches should be present. Two on hips. One of torso. No drop boxes. No holsters. Ab details are a bit different (more buttons on middle bit). Other images purported to be the same shocktrooper exist however, going into detail on them Dark Forces "Field Trooper" The field troopers aren't present in the games final installment, Jedi Academy. Summary including the Dark Forces "Field Trooper" as reference: Orange, Red, and Yellow pauldrons. Black pauldron exists in the Dark Forces art drawing from novelization. Drop boxes optional (Jedi Outcast has) No Holster Backpack optional (Not present in Jedi Outcast) Thermal Detonator present (again, clipping note) E-11 (Art, Jedi Knight), Scout pistol (Battlefront), LD-1 (Outcast), "repeater" (Jedi Knight), and Rocket Launcher (Battlefront) valid weapons. Pouches optional (not present on all, possible model size limitation). As an aside, a backpacked Stormtrooper also appears around the same time in the video game Galactic Battlegrounds Star Wars: Empire comic. Another trooper style appears in the Star Wars: Empire comic, issues 5-6, during the Princess... Warrior storyline involving Leia. The troopers are not on a desert planet, thus could potentially be related to our shock trooper Heavy Weapons Trooper. Courtesy RogueTrooper I was able to find the comic on Google Play and capture some stills of the prominent shots where the Trooper appears. Summary including the Star Wars: Empire as reference: White (Empire), Black (Empire), Orange (Battlefront), Red (Jedi Knight), and Yellow (Jedi Knight) pauldrons. Drop boxes optional (Jedi Outcast has, Knight does not. Battlefront does not. Empire does.) No Holster Backpack optional (Not present in Jedi Outcast, Sometimes not present in Empire) Thermal Detonator optional (Not present in Empire?) E-11 (DF Art, Jedi Knight, Empire), Scout pistol (Battlefront), LD-1 (Outcast), "repeater" (Jedi Knight), DLT-19 (Empire) and Rocket Launcher (Battlefront) valid weapons. Pouches optional (not present on all, possible model limitation/artist overlook). Further, I found this image when searching online of a shock trooper holding an SE-14r, with what looks like an antenna on his back. I think it's from Battlefront 1 (CTF reference) but can only assume it's modded. Any further knowledge on this would be appreciated: I found no references to the T-21 in any material so far. Any other suggestions of potential shock trooper candidates? I made a little spreadsheet of my findings to help visualize:
  2. Little late to the party but your build is looking fabulous so far Richard!
  3. Congrats! Great job moving that button... flawless hole filling job there!
  4. Good to know! I'll try it on the plastic lunch box-bits that we still need to finish up and report back
  5. if anyone wants the PSD template I used to print out and cut the radio faces, it's here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v0ggxpxygrdcu6a/radio.psd?dl=0 Just print it at 100% scale, clamp or tape to the black material you're going to be using, then cut along the lines with a razor and you're good to go!
  6. Took about three tries but I finally got the masking tape to not grip the paint too hard. Had to sand the crap out of them, and I ran the tape on my cotton pants about 6 times to make them "less sticky", if that makes sense... Radios and tube thingies done. Now onto the box thingies!
  7. Thanks jesse! Hope your build is going awesome!
  8. Antennas are a no go then? I'll leave ours off. Where did they originate from? Just a "Hey this would look kinda cool to plug the oil screw hole"? or something more?
  9. Cover strips on the wrist need to be cut down to be in line with the edge of the wrists. Your butt plate is also jumping over the kidney piece a bit, might want to work out a tab or something to catch it or add more strapping so it stays put. Great looking overall!
  10. Masking tape pulled the damn paint off the wipes tube... trying again! Did get these radios glued up and ready to paint today though!
  11. Hey Guys Just starting back on this today after a bit of delay. I have the two boxes built and and ready to be painted/have trimming added. I also just spray painted the first coat onto the sanitizing wipes rolls, trying to get those done today. Hoping to start getting the oil pan situated later today!
  12. Agreed, uniformity and specification are good and should be striven for. We need a detailed CRL. Let me know if help is needed there
  13. I've started the long task of re-strapping and re-creating the snap plates for my kit. Now that I have a snap press proper they should work way better. Unfortunately, my side rivet webbing is getting a bit spaced out from stretching over time (and I think an improper cauterizing job on the holes). I'm thinking about making the rivets non-functional and putting additional snap plates in the left side of the clamshell. Any suggestions?
  14. Awesome job on those corrections for EIB! Congratulations
  15. 25£ is about 30$ right now ^^<br><br> I second under armour compression pieces. My husband has a 2 piece and it's very comfy looking. My one piece is quite fine too.
  16. My pack is the best and all others are awful! I'd like to also remind all that the trooper in question we're modeling after is from a fairly old video game with some low resolution to it, so we should strive for a line between "Looks correct" and "it's absolutely this way" (at least without extensive discussion first). While I love Tony's build pack thread, and my husband and I are basically using it bit-for-bit as a template for ours, I'd hate the community to move to a point where that ends up becoming the gold standard and any deviation within reason is unacceptable (Tony's build or any other build).
  17. Hyperfirms are great! You can get a Grade B every now and then for pretty cheap, and I don't sweat about giving them to the kids for pictures because they're very durable.

    Pauldron

My husband bought an orange pauldron from her and it is terrific!
  19. 3-6 weeks for me as I recall, wasn't too bad considering it was out of country for me.
  20. Ricky you look fantastic! The only thing I can say is you might want to tighten up the strapping between the side of your abs with the rivet to eliminate as much of a gap as possible. Great job!
  21. Looking great! Just some things I noticed... Your biceps and forearms have a lot of space between them. You might want to drop your biceps down a little further, and pull up the forearms a bit to even out the spacing there. Your right forearm is also twisted about 90 degrees over, so you'll want to make sure it's rotated so the cover strips line up. Sometimes they roll out because of wear... you can add an elastic strapping to the biceps to help that. Your knee rivet also looks like it's a little off where it should be. The CRL suggests it should be in the upper corner, somewhere around the red dot.
  22. I have built two sets of AP armor, you can see detail pictures in my build thread in my signature. It's a fantastic set and worth every penny in my opinion!
  23. Not just boys :x I'm quite sad I never got a chance to meet her. Everyone I know who has met her has spoken very highly of her! Such a shame she was so young :'(
  24. We're actually the exact same height, and only 15lb difference in weight. Armor covers up the figure difference... It's awesome! We swap weapons throughout the event to confuse the handlers!
