  1. Finally got time to submit my EIB photos! Been so busy helping my husband work on his! http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38805-tk-20466-requesting-anh-stunt-eib-status-ap/

  3. Same with mine... trick to heating for me was to tie it to the shape I want with some tight string, put it in my sink, boil water, then slowly pour it over the armour areas where I wanted to bend.
  4. That looks great Cricket! Are the backs overlapping in those pictures? Hard to tell for here. You'll probably end up wanting to throw some internal padding on the outside to make them sit how you want and "bulk up" the knee area on yourself.
  5. Do you need extra brow material Emma? I have some excess supplies if you need them. Can't wait to see your finished build! Walt makes great kits!
  6. Take off some of the return edge on the shins tops and if necessary blow out the backs of the shins for added mobility. Makes walking possible The length looks pretty good on them in my opinion. I wouldn't take much off length-wise... maybe 1/2" and see where that lands you. I'd also suggest fulling building/gluing them before making them shorter so you can get a good fit test before any cuts. Your arm looks great; Make sure the shoulder strap is pulled nice and tight when you attach it to the chest-back strap and it will sit perfectly. Latex gloves just plain suck. Smallest ones I can find look goofy on my hands and feel awful after an hour of sitting in them. I'd suggest using hard plastic handguards glued to nomex flight gloves for trooping... super comfy!
  7. Got contacts yesterday before my first troop and they worked out great. I also moved the fans into the chin area a bit for better circulation so I could hear (at least a tiny bit) with them on. Looks like we're about winding down on this thread. Shoulder/bicep fixes should be coming this week, I need to fix a few pinch points still, then I'll be set to submit for EIB.
  8. Time to have fun with the costume! Entry 1: Southington Drive-in Theatre Date: 9/3/2016 Bread for Life was hosting a showing of The Force Awakens at the Southington CT Drive In Theatre. Five of us from the CT Garrison were there while waiting for sundown and the movie starting to meet and greet with the families supporting the showing! My first troop so I was a bit nervous going in, but I must say after dressing up and stepping out of our changing area I didn't stop smiling for the whole time we were in costume! We had some fun greeting people at the entrance area while "investigating the missing droids" Our Kylo was a huge hit with the kids And the photo op with one of the organizers
  9. I sure do, but it doesn't seem to keep enough tension to seat it down properly. I might add an abs "catch" to the inside of the shoulder bell so the bicep cannot physically move higher if tightening the forearm strap doesn't work.
  10. I agree with this... continue on, come back after giving it some time on the back burner
  11. It is a bit far back, but if they're different sculpt molds it might make sense that there's a difference between the arms. You almost definitely won't notice them because of where they sit when you have the whole kit on I wish I was more familiar with the RS kit to give a better answer. I'd suggest asking ukswrath about EIB/Centurion approvability on them
  12. Are the RS arms different for Right and Left? I know the AP arms are both the same. I don't think that's too big an issue, you want some of that "swoop" so you can bend at the elbow. It's probably fine.
  13. Looky what came in the mail today from Lewis at Hyperfirm :3
  14. Legs fit a lot better not... still need to remove a pinch points on the back and probably change the butt plate a little. I can walk a lot nicer now too with the cut holes in the back of the thigh/shins. Still need to fix the biceps... they just love creeping upward. Oh, yeah, I'm TK-20466 now
  15. None of the armor is required to have return edges on it for 501st approval (ANH stunt TK anyways...) so if you want to just take the entire thing off that's perfectly fine too. I have maybe 0.5-1mm return edge at most on my shoulder bells.
  16. I think that's against 501st rules! OP; I'd avoid this sale personally. For not too much more you can get a guaranteed kit from a vetted seller. I'm not a fan of 3-piece helmets either.
  17. First fix; the thighs. I know some in other threads have been asking about gluing before sizing. Here's how great E6000 is. Butter knife I gently slide under the strip at the top of the seam Peels right off. Then just pull the glue off both and you're good to go I cut about 1/2" off both sides of the inside of the back butt join Then I cut an area out of the back for my leg to have more movement Regluing both sides, I'll post some fittings when they're dry

  19. I've been approved by my GML! Just waiting on my LMO to final approve me! I want to thank Ray, the GML from the CT Garrison, for taking the time and going through my submission! You're the best I've included some pictures so others can also see the issue exactly. The gap in the back they create: Them rolled forward The solution here, I think, is to adjust the strapping to pull more towards the back and see if that corrects it. If not, then I may add a second strap to the upper backpiece. This has been a reoccurring issue for me... Red line is about how far down they should be... The problem I believe is that they ride up over time because the hook catch for the shoulder bell strap isn't big enough and not doing its job of "seating" the biceps. I'm going to make that large and see if it helps. In addition to Ray's suggestion, the clips are also too far from the end caps for EIB/Centurion. I will need to move those clips over/reduce the length a little, as well as rotate it down slightly. My thighs have a few issues with them. As Ray points out, they're large for me. I'm going to pull apart the back cover strip and trim about an inch off one side then reglue so I'm not swimming in them as much. In addition, I believe the shin armor needs some padding to get rid of that awful misaligned look. Further, I want to cut a chunk out of both the shin and the thigh so I can actually walk around without them clanking against one another. This reduces film accuracy but since this is a costume I will be Trooping in, comfort is the preference. Further, since I reshaped my butt plate to be smaller, I need to bring the angle cut higher again. Otherwise it causes this overlap both ways on the thighs. The blue circle should have an angle cut at about 45 degrees.
  20. Can you post a picture of the edge that's causing you trouble? Not familiar with the Anovos kit personally but might be able to offer up some help
  21. You got this! Just make sure you're using E6000 if you're not 1000% sure/confident of where you're gluing. E6000 is amazing stuff; you can jam a butter knife under it to pull it apart easily without issue and if that doesn't work just throw it in the freezer for an hour and it comes right off
  22. Damn dude I looked away from your thread for five minutes and you're blasting through it! Great work! Bring those shoulder bells in so they're snug to the chest if you can
  23. Nice job on the buttons! I'm actually most nervous about that part of Chris's kit... we're both pretty inept when it comes to any sort of painting, even with masking :s
  24. As Luc said; the cover strips should be roughly in line. Your fitting looks pretty good! With the rest of the armor on it won't feel as big. Picture says a thousand words so hopefully these might help... here's how my arm armor looks for my left arm right now Note the bend of the elbow and how the forearm sits. The side with the bumps in it goes towards the "outside" while that cut is where your arm bends. You can also see the inside of the forearm ends a lot further down than the outside; that's fine, the coverstrip overlaps a little The strapping is towards the outside, just about under the cover strip. This way the cover strips "line up" like Luc said. Inside the bicep Inside the forearm (I use velcro to be able to adjust, but snaps work just as well) You're pretty much spot on, just turn those forearms before adding any strapping
  25. As I recall the helmets for the heroes in the film actually had huge openings in them for that purpose. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I can confirm or tell me I'm full of bologna though! It took me a while to get comfortable putting my helmet on and off. My glasses get in the way now, but it's doable. You'll get it down For the biceps, rule of thumb is you want the opening to be about the same diameter between the biceps bottom and top of the forearms. You can always add foam padding to the inside of the biceps too for comfort and keeping them steady=)
