2. Damn you're coming along amazingly with this build! As a thought, you might want to split the difference some places with foam padding on the interior. I just worry you might end up with helmet proportions seeming weird.
3. Wow amazing shots! Thanks so much Paul! That figure would certainly be a great start for a CRL reference! It might be a stretch (especially considering they were in the film for < a second) but maybe one of the screen used ones will turn up.
4. Are there any plans to add this to a CRL at some point in the future as an ANH accessory or would a "space pack trooper" be its own deal? Considering undergoing trying to build one...
5. Looking good! Your eyes could be trimmed out further as there's still a bit of material in there.

RS is a great kit
6. Thanks I added new hooks to the biceps and they worked great all weekend! Now that I'm done with the con it's time to repair what went astray and submit for Centurion! wooooo
7. Just got home from a weekend at ComicConn in Hartford (CT) with the CT Garrison. We had some really awesome props up; a handmade Blast Doors set with a backdrop, as well as an Action Figure Card backdrop. We held a Blast-a-Trooper event and me and several other troopers got stuck with nerf darts all weekend while raising a bunch for charity. Group photo of some of our members infront of the blast doors: A poor trooper being mocked after taking one for the team Me blasted between the eyes by my husband (who was FIRST in line for the opportunity to shoot at me...) Our amazing card backdrop Had an absolute blast this weekend! Can't wait for the next event
8. Installing the line 24 snaps on the ab plate is a real pain. Hoping it'll be easier and snap better with the press. Velcro isn't an awful idea either
9. A bit, but not too awful; I'm running the mic on a push-to-talk and the fans have an on-off switch in the back of the helmet. I also don't leave the fans running non-stop, just when I get overheated or need to combat some claustrophobia from feeling my warm breath in the bucket. If you're running fans 24/7 (Arizona troopers, for example ) you might want to go the route of a throat mic to avoid interference.
10. They work great! I would suggest not using rubber gloves at all for Trooping though, as Nomex gloves are sooo much more comfortable, and also work on smartphones.
11. That movie chestpiece looks like it's snapped. Some of the costumes got very damaged during shooting because the stuff doesn't take falling down hard too well. Cricket, you're doing amazing! The pieces aren't too large to hot water bath... What I did was tie them how I wanted them using string to "squeeze" the sides in, put it in my sink, then slowly pour a pot of boiling water of them. Rather than a "direct" bath. You just need to be careful of spot-warping.
12. Lets fix those darn rotating shoulders. From the EIB thread: First thing I should note is my shoulders are naturally rolled in like that, so best we can do is try to bandaid the problem a bit The bicep change below helped it as well, but the major change was shortening up the elastic strap at the top. New ones on top, old ones below That seemed to mostly do the trick... now for the biceps. From EIB submission: I don't know if you noticed by I have TINY arms! The biceps move around a ton... First thing I did here was cut out a nice sized chunk of foam (you can get this stuff cheap at Joann Fabrics) and added velcro to it. I cut a similarly sized piece and added it to the inside of the bicep Without undersuit it has a nice light snugness to it. With the undersuit on it sits quite snug and doesn't move much; perfect! Finally, for tomorrow I've decided to use a small mic inside the helmet instead of my normal throat mic. I think the throat mic distortion is a tad too high (or at least my husband says so anyways...) Velcros right in and doesn't get in the way. I'll be using it with the iComm and a PTT cable ran to my arm tomorrow. All together! Right side still needs a little bit of work, but the left is on point.
13. First problem; my butt is weirdly shaped and slides under the thighs Cricket pointed this one out first. As you may remember from previously, I cut the width of the butt plate but did nothing with the vertical size. Using my husband's AP butt plate as a guide (which is trimmed to full out of the box size currently) I figured out some "rules" about the shape of the butt. For example, the side after the last angled taper is 3 inches down from the return edge. So I marked that area Mirroring these marks on both sides (and adding a bit of eye balling... not ashamed to say!) I cut along these paths and recreated much of the shape of the original piece: Here's my butt piece put inside my husbands so you can see the difference in sizes: We need to take come off the back of the thighs too, but that will have to wait for another day... Here's it suited up!
14. Wooo got my level 2! Along with some great feedback from Ukswrath Lets get to work on fixing it up for Level 3 and for the convention tomorrow!
15. Thanks!!! I will definitely be making those adjustments and submitting for Centurion! Thanks again for taking the time Ukswrath! What's the suggestion for fixing the shoulder bells? They seem to "roll" forward... should I add straps to the chest and back too so they don't move with wear? Or keep them centered on the biceps better somehow? @Sam Crow; They're decals. You can get stencils though for painting.
16. Awesome work! Only thing I see that might need some improvement is how far the shoulder bells are from the chest. See if you can tighten up the top strap there to bring them in--you want them to just about touch.
17. That looks fine. make sure your clips are up against the cap sides for EIB.
18. Drill a hole in the PVC pipe. Reason they won't come off is its causing a suction when you pull on em since they're both on. I shorted mine using my belt sander for a few moments. If you do that be careful as PVC melts easily from heat. Any fumes are also not great to breathe in. A hacksaw works too if you have one
19. You're crazy! I'd have a heart attack doing that!! Bet it's going to look awesome too with a bit of sanding!
20. Drill 1/8" holes for the rivets. The split rivets go through. Remember to add the washer. I then take a screwdriver head and pry the eye open a bit. Needlenose pliers to pull them out about 80 degrees. Then a whack or two of the hammer to set them good.
21. Hi Shawn, just a question as it's hard to see from the pictures; Do the shoulders have a black elastic strapping around the inside of the bicep?
22. Mine doesn't look nearly as warped, but it still has a fair few "stress bumps". I evened them out with clamps, warm water, and a lot of patient hand bending. Still look a little odd but not too awful. I reshaped my butt yesterday as well, so when I get a chance I'll post pictures/mini-guide on what I did to reshape; might give you some helpful visuals.
23. It does occasionally slide under the thigh armor after wear... Might be time to reshape my butt some more!
