1. Yea I know we won't learn much if there's nobody to learn from but I just meant enough people to actually call it a "party" lol. There's not as many troopers out here in KW as there are in T.O. I'm sure. Also it wouldn't bother me at all being the only newbie there, but it'd be cool and also much more useful if there were others learning to build too. I just want to meet and learn from as many other troopers as I can while beginning my journey and I think the local troopers would be a good start, seeing as I don't actually know a single person in the community yet, new or old. Reading these forums online is an amazing reference for information and help but meeting other troopers in person can give one a real charge and inspiration.
2. Looks like we're starting our first builds at the same time. we may have a small local group of troopers here in the KW area in the near future. I'm liking this already, hopefully we can find enough people and attend a party to learn a thing or two. though this forum helps a tonne, I've been reading so much. Just made my final payment and awaiting big brown box day now.
3. Greetings Chris. Good to see another Canadian trooper in training, maybe we can meetup and attend an armor building party together. Have you been invited to join the private group on facebook yet? "Tantive IV Boarding Party"
4. Are there any specific Blaster requirements for Centurion? All the CRL states is "Hasbro blasters are not allowed, not even conversions". I'm assuming that it must also comply with all the requirements for level 2 as well; M19 or M38 style scope, Hengstler style ammo counter, Power Cylinders, 6 T-Tracks, D-ring, ect, ect. Are there any centurion specific requirements when it comes to the blaster other than prohibiting Hasbro toys? Does the grip have to be identical? The original screen used Bapty "Tunisia" blasters actually had a smooth steel painted grip not your standard Sterling grip with diamond pattern that you see on resin casts.
5. Thanks for the tip Dan!, yes I have facebook. I will definitely look that up. Maybe your friend and I can both attend the next party. I'm looking forward to meeting other local troopers and learning everything I can.
6. I'm looking to attend an armor building party in my local garrison which I'm not yet a part of.
Does anyone know of any happening in the central Ontario region? I want to eventually join the
Canadian Garrison once I build my own TK.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm not sure where to look or who to ask?
Thanks for your time.
-Henry
7. Since I can't seem to buy a pair from Andy right now, In his absence I have been trying to build my own pair of "screen accurate" power cylinders. So far I have been able to source a Lot of 40 real Vintage Capacitors almost exactly like the ones Andy puts his screen accurate decals on, they're slightly different in model number but identical in shape, size and color.
8. I received the same order update email this morning. Great guy for keeping us posted like that, I really appreciate that he takes the time to update his customers on progress. Looks like we'll both be starting our first builds on AP armor soon. I'll follow your thread.
9. I'm not sure if these are even the same thing but look on the side of the Sandtrooper backpack near the top. From the Mos Eisley road block scene "These aren't the droids we're looking for"
10. So just to recap we've seen these "Power Cylinders" on the following props: Blastech E-11 Mousedroid Landspeeder Y-Wing Fighter Luke's X-Wing Fighter
11. I was actually going to say maybe it's because of the fact it's military equipment that most electrical engineers don't recognize exactly where or what it's from. Most of them work largely with consumer electronics, or maybe industrial. But military electrical engineers were probably a special breed, maybe we need to look in that direction. Especially older senior military electrical engineers, they would probably recognize it easily. I'm no electrician or anything but I'm a 30 year old guitarist and I've seen my fair share of vaccum tube / valve ampilifiers up close and personal. Those bigger pipes on the power cylinder racks with open ends are definitely sockets for vaccum tubes of some kind. These type of vaccum tubes/valves were used for audio related equipment, they still are. The sound they add to a guitar is irreplaceable and players are pretty serious about their tube amplifiers and the vintage ones go for more than the brand new ones most of the time. Modern technology eventually replaced these vaccum tubes with solid state amplification. Generally this resulted in "clearer" sound in most products like FM radios and stereo amplifiers, ect. But as for the guitar I don't think that will ever change, The vaccum tube gave birth to distortion by over driving pre-amp section of the amplifier circuit and/or even the power amp section. At first its was just Blues players turning up their amps enough to add a mild "crunch" or "dirt" to the guitar. Eventually players pushed amplifiers so hard they discovered distortion and gave birth to the sound of rock'n roll as we know it and the rest is history... The Beatles, The Who, ect, ect. This is probably one of, if not the only reason why they even still manufacture these vaccum tubes. They are literally irreplaceable when it comes to guitar. Computer programs, and digital equipment can emulate the sound of a tube guitar amp pretty well, but it's really just not the same and it will never replace the sound of plugging into a real tube amp. So in conclusion if the origin of the E-11 Power Cylinders is from Military equipment, and it's Audio related. I was going to guess almost the exact same thing; I agree it was probably most likely some kind of radio transmitter/receiver equipment, and it would make sense it was portable since most military equipment generally needs to be mobile. Obviously everyone knows the scopes they put on the E-11 were also from military equipment not to mention the Sterling submachine gun itself, so this is definitely very possible. Also I just remembered someone on here had a pretty solid theory that the shiny rubber Stormtrooper neck seals were orignally from an old military scuba diving suit.
12. This may be an obviously dumb question that's already been asked but I wonder if there's still anyone from the old Bapty & Co. we could ask some questions. There was a photo released of an original prop they dug out of their archives in recent years was there not?
13. 3" Extension on each side of Ab/Kidney plates for a total of 6", so that's an extra 1.5" on either side edge of both ab and kidney plates correct? And for the Leg thighs and calves how much extra did you add total?, and where? (1/4" on either side edge of both haves of thighs/calves for a total of 1" extra) I'm just curious as I think I will fit just fine into standard size armor so I want to trim my kit to original size.
14. Were you nervous when cutting the kidney notches? I'm curious as I have an AP kit on order, I'd like to eventually get it to centurion level as well.
15. Speaking of which, I'm not sure if there's already a thread about that but is there any special technique for using the facilities or do troopers just set the armor itself aside for bathroom breaks? I've seen the split ab/cod piece before which could flip up if unbuttoned from the butt-plate.
16. Are "morphsuits" otherwise known as "Zentai" suits allowed for 501'st approval? I've bought these from this website before and you can order custom configurations and custom measurements, (no hands, no feet, no head, crotch zipper, ect) it's very affordable too. Usually when you see people wearing these suits they cover everything from head to toe, face, fingers, toes and all, this website will customize your zentai suit however you want it. The Lycra/Spandex fabric these suits are made of usually has a bit of a shine to it but this version is a Cotton/Spandex so it has a matte black finish with no shine at all. The only zipper it has goes up the back and will not be visible once your neck seal is on. Again there is also an option to install a crotch zipper if requested but I'm just wondering if the armor codpiece and butt-plate will conceal it good enough. The zippers are also black and very fine with a tiny handle to grip, they're sewn into the seams so the zippers are actually hidden pretty well. Here is a link to the bodysuit, what do other troopers think? Is this a good option? and if so would the codpiece and butt-plate cover a small crotch zipper? http://www.zentai-zentai.com/black-cotton-bodysuit-fullbody-spandex-cotton-lycra-zentai-suit-products-271.html
17. Okay thanks for the tip, I fixed the link. Not sure why it didn't post the first time? Here it is again: -----------
18. I'm really new here and I've only begun making a list of things I need to complete my kit, so I'm not sure if this has been asked already or what other trooper's opinions on Zentai or "Morphsuits" are? These became really popular in recent years, I'm sure you've seen that random guy at events walking around in a blue bodysuit covered from head to toe, hands and everything and you can't see the face. Well you can get them customized with no hands, feet or head if you want, I've done it and it's actually very affordable. Usually the Lycra/Spandex material has a little bit of a shine to it, but I found this Cotton/Spandex version which has a matte black finish. No logos whatsoever and the only zipper goes up the back which allows you get into it but this will be easily concealed by the neckseal and armour. Also there is an option to install a crotch zipper for those times nature calls while trooping, but I'm wondering if a crotch zipper would be concealed enough with the cod piece and buttplate are on? Here is the link to the bodysuit:----------
19. Newbie here from Cambridge Ontario, I also just made a deposit on a set of AP (Authentic Props) Armor and Helmet as well as Holster & Gloves. So excited to start my first build. Lots to learn along the way! I will be following your post Hope to see you in the 501st Canadian Garrison in the future
20. Andy if you are you still selling these Power Cylinders? I'm interested in buying a pair.
21. Very Inspiring! excellent job trooper
22. Total newbie here, this may have already been asked a thousand times but has anyone heard of this company and if so is it any good? I'm already getting the impression that it's a good idea to stay away from commercially available kits. http://www.anovos.com/collections/the-imperial-collection/products/star-wars-classic-trilogy-imperial-stormtrooper-pre-order any help or advice is much appreciated, thanks.
