  1. I agree, not how this seller built it... It looked good in the photos but upon further view was not as expected.
  2. assembled steel tube receiver, with original bolt and barrel is quite illegal! He basically built a nice looking live smg.
  3. I'm thinking this is the next best thing.... 100% 3mm abs. even has a folding stock. the scope is off a little but nothing you can't tweek. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-E-11-Blaster-Model-Replica-Accurate-1-1-Storm-Trooper-CosPlay-DIY-KIT-/331704999889?hash=item4d3b289fd1:g:hhwAAOSw~bFWLmHu Parts List: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a2i6mb6vuo98h38/Parts%20List.pdf?dl=0
  4. Magnets and small clamps are a must... at least 5-7 small clamps and 10-20 rare earth magnets (1/2'' min) larger magnets will yield a better clamping strength. Also, don't forget to install the internal strip before proceeding with the outer cover strip. This will give the piece more substance and strength and therefore less stress on the front cover strip when finishing. e6000 is the best! It can be rubbed off with ease. Once dried use a micro fiber cloth and some elbow grease, to rub the e6000 right off.
  5. Mine Just arrived. The 12s are a perfect fit.
  6. in my case, I'm trying to use my unmolested barrel shroud. I got lucky because the front muzzle lines up perfect with the reciever on mine. Didn't entertain the idea of doing a pipe build and reattaching the sterling parts. I really want to use the original gun components. if that means bapty type - so be it. But for now I'm holding out for a better option.
  7. Unique Canes' response to my email asking the procedure in which he fabricates and sells his demils. So I guess you can weld the thing up solid like a Bapty and it's OK?? To Aaron's point they are ugly with everything sealed up. Couldn't we weld the bolt in place? no moving parts - right? Hello Carl Very complicated procedure with 1" Pipe welded inside a Torch Cut Demilled Receiver...No Internal Moving parts AJ Unique Canes & Replicas click here: http://www.uniquecanes.com 636-279-1570
  8. Great Paint Job Alan! I have the same box. so maybe I'll convert mine
  9. another interesting thread regarding "parts kit conversion" Dday chimes in as well. http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=242868
  10. Trying to research the legalities of doing a build like this, with a parts kit of my own. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/33798-legal-sterling-conversion-in-cali/ I thought using the original bold and inner barrel on a blaster build is illegal?
  11. Unlike the Bapty versions, with a solid plug expanding the entire receiver and covering the ejector port, this sterling build does not. (link below) The gentlemen describes his deactivated sterling as having a "SOLID metal plug where the bolt would normally be" but his ejector port is wide open. http://sterlingblasterconversion.blogspot.com/2007/10/sterling-l2a3-mk4-to-blastech-e11.html
  12. Of all the different firearms defined as NFA weapons, machineguns are the only type where the receiver of the weapon by itself is an NFA firearm. As a result, it is important that the receiver of a machinegun be properly identified. Lists the receiver L1A1 as Upper. I'm assuming the L2A3 is the same, but it's anybody's guess? Tried calling the number listed (ATF Technologies dept), but they re-direct you to a mailing address to send your inquires with a min. turnaround of 90 days. I guess I'm writing a letter...
  13. that's what I did...
  14. the portion in red?? I spoke to a couple local gunsmiths and it was like deer in headlights... They were clueless.
  15. Uniquecanes.com: says the replica sterling on their website has been created with real parts "Welded per BATF Guidelines. All NFA Rules apply." I sent an email inquiring about the process. Maybe they can help.
  16. After further investigation... The seller of my parts kit originally purchased from Gun Parts USA over ten years ago (2004) and it seems to be a saw cut, which is no longer allowed. "After initially letting a huge lot of nice saw cut kits pass the BATF cracked down on the those kits that were saw cut with the full barrel shroud (as pictured above) any new kit will be cut up pretty ugly with a torch into smaller pieces... If you want one of the nice cut ups you will have to find an older import, but the cost will be significantly more..." -- Source: therpf.com conversion thread with parts kit similar to mine. 17. I'm not seeing the demil process? I see pictures of a de-miled display gun for sale only. This really helps.. thanks again..
  18. Thanks Vern... Question: Does this apply to the sterling? "If re-using receiver parts, the third hole and slotted right receiver rail must be removed."
  19. it is in fact saw cut... and zero rust. I would like to use as much of this thing as possible. I couldn't pass this one up!! Thanks for the feedback!
  20. I agree... Thanks for your input!
  21. are these parts considered part of the receiver tube? i've seen numerous conversions and these parts are used from the sterling.[/url]
  22. I'm a 10.5-11 and ordered a 12 Imperial boot. They say to error on the larger end.
  23. All info is appreciated. I just figured since Cali has very strict gun laws, that I'd solicit local advise
  24. Vern, so i can't use any of the heat shroud or the actual part the magazine fits into? If so, seems like a waste to buy the parts kit only to use the handle grip and stock. I may need to rethink this. "replace the entire receiver with an aluminum one from D DAY."
  25. Point Noted! The appropriate authorities? That's the question. Knowing Los Angeles I would get conflicting answers anyhow. That's why i figured in 35+ years somebody has already gone down this path and can shed a little info. Vern is from Cali so he should know this stuff.
