  1. Great job with your kit!<br> I'm only going to echo everyone else about your shoulder bells. I also have an ATA kit and have had the same problem, offsetting the snap inside your bell is the way to go.<br> Now get out there and troop!
  2. Also, don't forget, it will probably take you anywhere from a few months to a year to actually build your costume once you get your kit, so you probably won't be that far off 18 by the time it is all finished. But best bet is to do as advised above, and get in contact with your local garrison.
  3. Congratulations mate, really happy to hear that, well done!
  4. Just to add my 2 cents here, not about money or anything, but to me a big, big advantage of being an officer instead of a Jawa is that you can wrangle in it.
  5. 32 pages and no armour yet....this thread will EXPLODE when you get it!
  6. Hey mate, in regards to the shoulder bells, I would wait until you have the chest armour ready to go before cutting anything off them. The less black showing the better. Also, it looks like you might be able to drop that bicep a bit closer to your elbow. Good luck!
  7. Sure here you go as I said it makes it a little awkward getting boots and shins on because the thighs aren't held up by anything until the body is on, but it works well. EDIT: sorry for the out of focus photo!
  8. It won't be a 'pity pass' mate, you've worked hard on this and it looks really good, you should be proud of your efforts.<br> I have my thighs connected to snaps just inside the ab plate, it's a little awkward to put on, but it works fine.<br> Good luck!
  9. Hey mate,<br> Given both seem to open up towards the top, it might pay to check if your straps are the same length, it kind of looks like the top ones are longer. The bottom of both sides looks ok, it's just the top that looks out.<br> getting close!
  10. I had the same issue with the Humbrol paint. Not sure if it was because it was old or I didn't mix it enough. I bought another tin, mixed it up really well and all was good.
  11. Great idea for a thread Tim. I've been approved since November 2015 and being a member of the 501st is easily the best thing I've done.<br><br> If only I knew:<br> Just how vital wranglers are. Everyone says it, everyone will tell you, but when you are doing it, you might feel like you aren't actually doing anything much. For me, it's not until you get that helmet on, or just can't quite reach that snap to do it up that you realise just how important wranglers are.<br><br> Oops;<br> So many! My main build thread over on the Redback Garrison is an ode to how many mistakes can be fixed. Mostly they were the result of me acting like a bull at a gate and not reading enough.<br><br> A funny thing happened on the way to the Death Star:<br> I've shared this before, but I think it's pretty funny. My wife and kids were watching me at one of my first troops when a lady came up and put her arm around me for a photo. My 10 year old daughter turned to my wife and said "Mummy, you told us we couldn't get mad when Dad played with other kids, so you can't get mad when he plays with other women.'<br> Shout outs:<br> I was incredibly lucky to have Sly there to call on. Every PM I sent him (and there was a lot!), was answered quickly and helped me through a heap of places. Also to Phantom the Redback GML who was very patient with me.<br><br> Cheers,<br> Scott
  12. Oops, sorry, I'd like to blame autocorrect, but it could have been beer's fault as well.
  13. No, its not long, it just attaches to a snap inside my shin. Hopefully this picture explains it a bit better.
  14. I have elastic loops through my belt loops to hold my shins in place. Works fine and doesn't really place much stress on the belt loops. Don't get too down from people changing their builds. Everyone, absolutely everyone, here was "Yoda Green" when building armour for the first time, there is enough help here to get you through it, YOU CAN DO THIS! Emblem looks cool!
  15. Joseph is right on the money Jefferson. ATA does spare parts quickly and reasonably priced.
  16. Awesome stuff!
  17. I would align the bottom, trim the top, the top will be covered by your shoulder bells.
  18. No problems, just be careful, because it bonds almost instantly.
  19. This works incredibly fast and strong.----------
  20. Great research Shane and looking forward to watching your build. Just have a question about where you are getting your blaster from? I didn't think Hyperfirm shipped outside of the US?
  21. Looking good mate, just wondering, did you stick something under the ab button plate to pack it out in order to stick it to the ab plate?
  22. I found Photobucket to be the easiest way to add photos to your thread.
