  1. done the MR CE overhaul as documented by Luis, No'l and cranky. No problems yet. No trooping but lots of use around the house with scaring kids and irritating wife though. hope this isnt gonna be an issue with the MR CE
  2. (1) agree with rest - looks very hot (2) cheaper options eg knee pad idea from D-Mac (3) if its for display - why pad it out? personal opinion - I would avoid.
  3. rofl cranky not sayin till I assemble at least a FX - not sure I would like to do a TE2 or AP as a 1st build with 2 hands full of left thumbs! but if I were to choose a set of "fantasy armour" - I would go TM if I had a extra penny or two to spend - but then again I dont have to contend with the GBP/USD conversion Damien - if u had a budget abt $2000 - I guess TM might be an option for you! Thats including the armour, a nice bucket, soft furnishings, accessories, shoes and bucket electronics. About right u think guys? But it would certainly be a sweet outfit!
  4. argh white commando spoke to me!!!!! 0.o *genuflects* I'm not worthy I'm not worthy!! heh wow thx for invite over matey - already been surfing the clone empire waves looking for info. already been bothering kwd and JM (I head hes now evolved ) and really enjoyin all teh amazin work in the clone workshop. nice to hear abt the growing ranks ! catch u on CE Mr Commando, sir!
  5. wow C6? I would be sooo interested; unfortunately no cash atm (and still intercepting postman on a routine basis so wife doesnt realise how much other stuff I have ordered for my TK !!)
  6. just over USD1000 - still too much? dammit really? even with all the soft furnishings included (ie under armour, ROM Fx, holster, blaster+mods, seal etc)? I over paid (again). I did as much research as I could as well oh hang on just realised Deatrins post : feeling a little less foolish now
  7. oops just realised that I had posted half in USD and half in GBP - my bad Ā£300 is abt 550 USD (ish) so just over $1000 USD for FX lite and MRCE helmet combo. kinda wot others have said.
  8. hey damien, FX lite USD400 MR CE USD100 Hasbaro E-11 USD20 joy from armour - priceless heh I am assembling stuff in UK atm (so prices above are kinda guestimates)... so soft bits still to go, undersuit, neck seal, boots, holster, electronics (ouch) - abt Ā£300 budgetted. Its like Mark said - u CAN spend loads, but u dont really have to btw slow spending also means the wife doesnt realised how much u've spent on your toys - ROFL
  9. not meaning to hijack this thread - but wondering abt this too - let me get this straight in my own head pls 1. so roughening - with either 400 or 600 grit 2. primer x (wot ever is you preference) 3. sand in between? 600 or 800? 4. gloss paint x (wot ever is you preference) in thin layers with can pretty close 5. do u sand in between gloss coats as well? 800, 1200 somethink like that? - I guess if u are snading between gloss coats; u could sand out runs at this point as well? *soz using UK grit sizes - so slightly diff* thanks - soz for interruption matt
  10. hey mate - hope ur painting is going well done a bit more bump work - but not sure whether it fits in or not. Been staring at it for abt a day now, and cant decide would be interested in comments. Still awaiting ear delivery.... if not entirely happy with it - might completely sand it back down to original also came up with new idea for the ears - would appreciate your (and anyone elses) opinion! http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopi...sc&start=15 cheers mate

sweet ride man - looks to be in gorgeous condition too I am very jealous - congrats and enjoy unfortunately in process of gettin rid of my Toyota Supra do to credit crunch at least I can indulge in trooper armour though
  12. looking good mate! I am finding thighs a little tricky - doesnt help that I am a bit of a short a*$e GOOD LUCK!
  13. ooo kw designs! the man himself was in contact recently mate - going to do as u suggested and go through GML of UK Garrison to sort an order out maybe soon I will have some OSCS goodness!
  14. Agree with Scott's analysis. soz I am pretty new - but I think one of the issues of recasters is - that they make use of other peoples work to turn a profit. they are also led by the bottom line rather than turnig out qualiy goods. from wot I understand - the legit armours take great pride in their work, their "tweaks" and quality of product. THey produce stuff for the love of it and not for the profit (if any at all - my impression is most charge just enough to cover cost of materials and set-up) as for quality of SFP - not sure; have avoided them like the plague so far. But I guess thats kinda academic anyways cos there are just so many other reasons not to purchase stuf form that particular vendor.
  15. hey steve - just did a search on UKG site - u might find this interesting ----- hope that helps
  16. hey mate i take it the putty u used isnt white then? onyl asking cos if u look up UKG site - it suggest using white silicone : ----- not sure wot colour is used for small white touch ups, but whole helmet sprats - head to Halfords seems to be the general consensus the grey match is quite well known both on here and UKG site - Humbrol no.5 consider signing up to UKG if u are interested in trooping - really helpful bunch over there. pm me if u need mroe info - I am pretty new here; so still have quite a bit of info still fresh in my head
  17. excellent work - looks like u are almost done think the ears look fine as well. the bump IS made of putty - just its general shape. gonna fillit up a bit more so its flushed with the inside and outside of the eye hole. Will post up more once done. Thought abt the heat gun jobbie - but when with putty in the end - cos if it all went wrong - easier to correct bad putty! wot armour u matching up to btw? FX?
  18. thought I'd show u some of my bucket - I am just behind u me thinks heres its all puttied up - just about to sand down you think my eye bump is too subtle? Oh remember my fear abt dremelling - still havent over come it - I heated the aerators directly from behind over a light bulb : then just wiggled them off :
  19. nice one scott. I would just build me a standard CT phase II ground pounder. Just dont think my armoru buidling skills are up to the challenge just yet.
  20. i thought it looked pretty ok Stuka is right though - white velcro helps. hope it isnt a stupid question - but ur velcro on the upper piece; its all the way to the edge right? It helps the tip from "lifting" a bit. Only asking cos on ur 1st pic - it looks like its a little bit in from teh edge. I am pretty much a new myself - so awaiting more comments from mroe experienced armour builders
  21. I couldnt help it - started with small peiece too - forearm as well. sure I wont be the 1st to ask - any pics? as I am kinda short and fat, found I had to trim a bit more than I anticipated (damn u Dav and ur stormtrooper perfect skinniness!!!)- so far still gathering courage to make actual cuts.
  22. hope I am not teaching granny how to suck eggs - but think I hav sourced most of the things. Just need the money now but I have sourced out tubestripes, rubber brow trims and neck seal from UK suppliers, pm me if u need info gone with bucket works twin fans on sale here. still havent decided on the sound system - another big purchase . But have gone for stompers twin tone aerators with speakers - they look the dog's doo dahs! happy painting - hope ur weather is better than we are gettin in the UK
  23. hey mate - I am pretty new here, but been lingering on the boards for abt 3-4 months now investigating various armour etc Wot the rest said so far is true, all the armours can be made to fit most body frames, its the amount of modding u need to do thats the questions. RT Mod is generally known for the larger trooper. Gawd, I'm only 5' 9'' and abt 14 stone (fat northern git) - now I am embaraseed - and currently trying to squeeze into a FX. It will fit darn it! wot it does say on the tin for a RT Mod - "....will fit an individual up to 6' 2", 210lbs depending on weight 'distribution'....." pm me if u need more info
