HWT CRL Changes - Your input is requested
justjoseph63 replied to Daetrin's topic in Heavy Weapons Trooper
Right now I would like to see the focus only on the armor/pack. I only know of one HWT that carries a rocket launcher, and none that carry a Scout pistol. Most of us prefer the T-21 or DLT-19, both of which are readily available in kit or Hyperfirm models. Perhaps in the future we could look into that... (after I retire from the Legion in say, 15 years) LOL. -
Some really nice finishing touches on that armor, Jen! I like the fact that you updated the hovi-mic tips, got rid of the crappy Anovos canvas belt, and your ab/kidney connections are spectacular. I get the feeling you are aiming for Centurion, and you are well on your way! The only small things I see is that you may need for that is to widen the paint on your ab buttons just a hair, and the belt may have to come up a bit in the front. An awesome job on this armor!

Looking fantastic, Jeff! You may want to cut down the bottom of the funnel a bit, almost to the level of the long black tube. And yes, it could use a little "dirty love", LOL! This is what I did to weather mine: I took a can of silver spray paint and a can of black, sprayed a bit of both in a shallow disposable plastic container and used the "dry-brush" technique. Just dip it in and go. The good thing is, if you "mess-up", just hit the pack with the black again! You don't need to go crazy with the weathering, though. Sometimes less is more. Looking forward to seeing the final product!

OK, Troopers, it's showtime. As stated in each thread please allow a few days for me to get to your certificate, and please use the threads for requests only. Also note that you must provide accurate info., as once they are generated, I cannot make changes. Thanks, and CONGRATS to all those who earned them!!

HWT CRL Changes - Your input is requested

Pauldrons- I figured that since we are doing the changes that we may as well set a new standard, or at least move it to level 2 instead of 3. Lights and stuff- There were no lights... that's the reasoning behind this change. I (and I think Tony can back me up on this) have seen giant LED displays and all manner of large greeblies, video monitors, etc. Are they cool looking? In a word, yes! Are they consistent with the ones in the game that the character is based on? No. What people do with their packs after basic approval is up to them, but I would like to set a standard for those who wish to take it to levels 2 and 3. -

Shoulder Ammo Pouch For 501st approval: One three slot German MP-40 style ammo pouches on the right shoulder. Liking your ideas Eric, but actually, this should be left shoulder. Here are my opinions for what they are worth.. 1. I am willing to concede on the TD being optional at basic. I personally cannot wear mine because of the pack, but perhaps a taller Trooper may be able to. 2. The "No video monitors, lights... " on the pack addition was to hopefully dissuade this practice from continuing. A few small discreet greeblies I have no problem with, but in many cases this has been taken to the extreme as we have witnessed. 3. Pauldrons should be orange from the get-go, (basic) for two reasons.. That is the way they are in the game, and if someone (hopefully) wants to move up to levels 2 and 3 they won't have to replace them in order to do so. 4. Leave the ab buttons as they are. 5. Two ammo packs for basic, 3 for higher levels. (Most are sold in sets of two). -

Looking good, Jim! I noticed a few things that may help in addition to your list. You will need to turn the "Chicago" screws holding your holster on around. You will want to trim off all the excess of your cover strips (photo 1) to where they sit flush with the armor. Also, you will need to remove all the return edges from the wrist side of your forearm pieces. Looks as if you have done a great job on this, but you will notice that the part in the ribbed "hump" (photo 2) is still there. You have a bit of a gap at the bottoms of your ab/kidney connections, but when you cinch up your belt these will probably disappear, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Once you get it situated correctly it will also hide the gaps and notch in your kidney plate as seen in your third photo. Here are my personal opinions of your questions: 1. Cricket (Christine) nailed that answer. It should be just as she stated. 2. Easy fix. 3. Painting in progress. 4. See above about tightening your belt. 5. The outside edge of the drop box should be in alignment with the outside edge of the ABS belt. (PERFECT in the last photo)! These are not meant as critiques, Jim, just suggestions. I think it is fantastic that you are aiming for levels 2 and 3 (I wish more Troopers would). You are well on your way, sir, and have done an outstanding job on this armor! I applaud those who ask questions and ask for opinions as you did, and I look forward to welcoming you to EIB and then Centurion! Photo 1 Photo 2

That is strange... My AM kit included them. You may want to get in touch with him first..

You can go to napaonline.com and search part # BK 7305903, or go to a NAPA auto supply store if there is one near you.
-
I tried it once.. (my doctor said I wasn't getting enough "tar"). Had to give it up after 25 years though after I started getting out of breath playing chess.

I have ordered several E-11s from them, and the wait time was always lengthy... up to 11 weeks. Their lack of communication is legendary, but I have never heard of them actually not shipping the product. I also had to contact Paypal and ask them to intercede, but I eventually received what I ordered. Sorry to hear about your order!

TK 12536 requesting ANH Stunt Centurion status [RS] [307]
justjoseph63 replied to TK12536's topic in Request Centurion Status
Looking sharp, David, very sharp indeed! -
The clips are made from strips of aluminum, and you can make these yourself with supplies available at Lowe's or Home Depot. However, bending these to the right dimensions can be quite a challenge, as they tend to snap when best at too sharp an angle, (trust me on this). The ones Tony offers are in fact a really good bargain considering the time it takes to purchase materials, take measurements, bend them perfectly in the right places, drill the holes, etc., and include the screen accurate screws. His products are top-notch and approvable to level 3. Most all kits come with these, so if you haven't received your kit yet, ask your armorer if they are in fact included.

I would try using plain white vinegar on a clean cloth, Audie. That should remove any lingering odors.
-
I am down to less than 12 of these for sale, so please PM me before ordering. After these are gone, that's it. Thanks! ----------
-
I didn't, but I have the canvas ones and they have sort of weathered themselves after so many troops, LOL. As long as they are completely black (no white stitching) you should be fine.
