I actually wouldn't worry about the kidney notches, as they are no longer a requirement for level 3. If you do decide to add them, I highly recommend the following: 1. Measure out the 22mm square in the appropriate place. 2. Drill a hole in the corner of the square, (1/8 inch drill bit). 3. Cut from the hole outward along the lines. The reason for this is that if you have any sort of sharp angle, this will create a weak point and your armor can (and will) develop a split/crack there. Cutting the hole rounds this out.

My pleasure, Giles. I will be looking for your EI submission as soon as you get your 501st approval! Speaking of which, the first thing you should do after you get your official TK# is to request Trooper Status here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16-501st-trooper-status-requests-include-link-to-your-501st-profile-in-your-request/

Aardvark891 WTF kit

As mentioned, some photos of the areas in question would help immensely, Robert! I have found that the easiest way to do this is sign up for a free imgur account, which lets you edit and post pics here. For more info., here is a thread that will help: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/42381-howto-post-images-in-threads-using-imgur-easy/ -
Great call on that, Tino! I have found the best way to do the teeth is to invest 4 bucks in a needle file set from Lowe's, https://www.lowes.com/pd/Project-Source-6-Piece-Needle-File-Set/4777067. It comes with an assortment of files that can do the trick. If you have no further use for them after that, you can sell or loan them to someone in your Squad/Garrison that is doing a build. And yes, I meant the hovi-tip mesh, lol. I blame that on it being 4 a.m. and not having my diet Mountain Dew fix yet. BUT.. it seems Anovos has changed their hovi-tip mesh and the one that is shown will be just dandy! You may be able to add a 4 or 5 inch strip of heavy duty Velcro to the center part of your belt. For the TD plate, I would suggest popping the entire thing in the freezer for about an hour. This will stiffen the glue (hopefully you used E-6000) and it should pop off fairly easily. The drop boxes will be a super easy fix by adding a dab of E-6000 on the inside of the loop as you mentioned.

Am I getting a reputation here, lol?! This should be an easy pass for basic, so any suggestions below (along with Randy's mention of the drop boxes and belt) will pertain to level 3. Dan is spot on about the helmet frown and small ab button plate. .. those will need to be fixed before you reach level 3. Side note: I did the exact same thing with both my small and large ab button plates on my first build. I would also suggest trimming down the return edge at the top your left thigh. I can't tell from the photo, but your TD plate may be a bit low. The O ring should be facing more toward the top. Reference image Lastly, the frown mesh will need to be replaced. Anovos is still using the fine mesh, and it needs to be wider, as in Dan's reference photo above. Fantastic job on that armor, Giles, and once you get basic approval I look forward to seeing your EI submission!

When you say "over the edge of the bottom button on the plate", did you mean the bottom of the button? That is fine, and much better than sitting too low, (you should not be able to see the lower part of the plate itself). Here are 3 images showing acceptable variations: Just below the button Covering the bottom of the button Covering most of the button The positioning of the drop boxes on your belt looks fantastic! -

Where, What and Whom To Avoid When Buying
justjoseph63 replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Paul had the best answer to this, Jonah: Matt Gauthier (TE) "Matt was banned from this board for repeated flame wars, but even worse for repeatedly taking our members money and not delivering. He has at least twice documented "sold his molds", once to a 501st member, and then recast the sold molds to make new product. You can send him money if you want to take a large risk of not getting anything, and of supporting someone who has screwed numerous 501st members by lying to them. That said, you are certainly free to send them money, however its buyer beware and you can't say you weren't warned..." -

Here is a reference image of how the belt/drop boxes should look when complete, as well as one showing how high it should sit on the ab plate, (just below the bottom ab button): -
Hi Michael! First, congrats on your 501st approval! GREAT to hear that we will having another HWT join the ranks. Looks like you have done a fantastic job on sourcing your materials, and I can't wait to see some build pics!** I noticed that you are considering an antenna on your pack. I would leave this off. The bottom photo of the pack on the CRL shows it having one, but that is being changed. Also note that the HWT CRLs have changed, so you should use those as a reference: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_hwt If I can be of any help, just PM me, and best of luck on your quest for HWT! "Pics to follow.mine’s too large to post, shall have to change format and repost.cheers" ** I would suggest using imgur, which is an awesome site where you can edit and post your photos for free. Daniel (Ensi) has a fantastic tutorial here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/42381-howto-post-images-in-threads-using-imgur-easy/ Lastly, now that you have your official 501st approval and TK ID#, I would request Legion Access here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16-501st-trooper-status-requests-include-link-to-your-501st-profile-in-your-request/

You should be able to sell these pretty quickly, Pierre, but items for sale are required to have at least one photo attached. I would also include any shipping costs if any, and listing the manufacturer will help as well. Also, they should be listed in the "For Sale..." forum below. Good luck on your sale! https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/11-for-sale-or-trade-personal-items/

Centurion question: Rivets/Snaps on ANH TK Stunt
justjoseph63 replied to The Captain's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Hi Winston! Some great questions there, and I will try to help you out. "So if any of you out there do Centurion inspections and have any input, it would be greatly appreciated!" Along with Tony (ukswrath) I am one of the Deployment Officers who approve EI and Centurion levels. Crotch strap- The one Anovos supplies (1 inch black elastic) is what you will need, so no problems there. As for snaps, any snap that can be seen cannot have paint on it, and must be silver/chrome/nickel in color. Belt- The type of fastener does not have to be pop rivets. I have seen people use split rivets, Chicago screws, etc. Since the head is covered by the square button covers and cannot be seen it will not affect approval, although pop rivets work really well. Does someone in your Garrison have a pop rivet fastener you could borrow? You do not need rivets to attach your drop boxes. Many of us just make a loop of white elastic and glue it directly to them. BUT... remember to make sure that the tops of the boxes touch the bottom of the belt. There should be no gap. Also, for level 3 the outer edges must align with the outer edge of the ABS belt. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have! -
WIP TK ANH...HERE WE GOOOOO, (slowly)!!!
justjoseph63 replied to Commander Gree's topic in ANH Build Threads
The rear belt shot is mainly to check for the inner drop box. but it also shows if the loop that holds the drop box is fastened/glued to the cloth belt or not, which is the major cause of misalignment, a very common problem. If it isn't fastened to the cloth belt with rivets or glued it is something that we (or anyone) can suggest to keep it in place. The rear shot also usually shows a closer shot of the approved fasteners, (rivets, snaps, Chicago screws). The inner box can be held in place with whatever holds it there securely... glue, magnets, chewing gum, (well, maybe not chewing gum). Some Troopers make them where they can be opened/closed to store keys. etc. As long as the inner one is in place all is good at level 3. Hope this helps! -
Seam on the side a problem?
justjoseph63 replied to REAPERofDAISYS's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Some items are left at the discretion of GMLs, and one may pass something that another may not. When in doubt about a certain item or is it is not clearly defined in the CRL I always refer to screen used images, that way there is no ambiguity as to what is correct. Some things we do indeed give a "pass" on, like using split rivets instead of cap rivets on the thigh ammo pack, but for the most part it has to be as close to canon as possible for level 3. Another exception is weapons. Resin, scratch build and Hyperfirm for example are perfectly acceptable, as very few of us have access to a real Sterling. However, when a specific item is generally available we ask that it be used. Many Troopers have reached level 3 with fantastic looking home dyed Chelsea style boots, but they need to match the ones seen in the films as closely as possible. Here are 2 pics of screen-used boots as a reference: (Note where the seam is located) As Greg mentioned, the ones in your photo look a bit short. If you are over 5 ft 9 I would probably not recommend them at all for the reason he gave.. your calf armor would be get stuck under them constantly unless you used a Velcro or strap system. -
