As for return edges on the rest of the armor, I always suggest removing all of it from the bottom of the biceps, (keeps them closer to the chest/back, photos 1 and 2) and the tops of the thighs (keeps them from chafing, photo 3). Also, removing them (thigh tops) before any fitting/gluing is important. Otherwise, if you do afterward those areas will be too loose. You can also remove a lot of the return edge on your chest/back plate, but that is not a necessity, (Photo 4), just personal preference. 1. 2. 3 4.

GREAT job so far, Freddy! I would recommend taking a bit of black paint to the vocoder to sharpen up the lines at the top. The best thing to use for this is called a "filbert" style brush, which has a rounded end. I would also give more of a point to your frown on the left side. The hovi tips turned out awesome! A photo showing a wider area of what you are trying to work on would help as well. I would also recommend sanding down the area first to get rid of the dark areas, as the ABS paste may not cover these. Also, what are the dark lines? (Red arrows).

Stormtrooper Commander CRL
justjoseph63 replied to ukswrath's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
The belt would always be in the same position because of the snaps (or Velcro) holding it in place in the front, so unless someone loses or gains a significant amount of weight the ones in the rear would stay in the same place if they were placed in those positions to start with. -
Looking for a point of contact (T-Jay)
justjoseph63 replied to Jdivona's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Doopydoos is a strange beast to say the least. I just ordered my third kit from them (and another one of Tino's kits of course). My first one took about 4 weeks to arrive. After waiting 7 weeks for the last one, I emailed DD several times over the period of a week with no reply. I finally got in touch with PayPal, who apparently lit a fire under them and I received a reply the next day and the kit 5 days later. The thing with DD is that their communication is absolutely horrible.... no tracking number, no "item sent" email, nothing... but you will eventually get your kit, (which is a nice one, btw). Being in CA., I would give it 5-6 weeks. If you haven't received it by then, send them an email and include the order number. If no response within a week, contact PP. -

Lorelei's 5'4" ATA ANH-S Centurion-Hopeful Build
justjoseph63 replied to TheLorelei's topic in ANH Build Threads
I agree that it can look a bit vague, but note that on the CRL that levels 2 and 3 are "optional", as not all countries permit replica weapons, but Troopers can still be approved at basic level. If you look on the EI and Centurion checklists they list the blaster type as part of the mandatory information, as well as left/right photos of it. Hope that clarifies things a bit. -
Strapping / Rigging Question
justjoseph63 replied to Ramblin Trooper's topic in FISD Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) Requirements
Welcome back, Brent, and awesome to hear that you are aiming for Centurion on your build! Strapping methods can vary, but as long as they hold everything in place correctly there are no hard and fast rules, (although you do have got my interest piqued with the "other method")! Hopefully you went with one of the "vetted" armorers we have listed, https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/as there are a LOT of sellers online who's kits are recasts and not eligible for approval, https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19329-where-what-and-whom-to-avoid-when-buying/ If you should have any questions, just let us know!! -
Lorelei's 5'4" ATA ANH-S Centurion-Hopeful Build
justjoseph63 replied to TheLorelei's topic in ANH Build Threads
Great to hear that you have your BBB day on the way, Lorelei, and even better to hear that you are aiming for Centurion! Following Cricket's build thread will help you immensely, and there are several other "vertically challenged" Troopers like Shasha (shashachu) who have done outstanding builds and will be happy to help with details. The blaster is indeed a requirement for levels 2 and 3. Lots of choices to say the least! You can go Hyperfirm, 3-D printed (a lot of sanding, though), Doopydoos resin kit, etc. If you happen to run across one online, post up a link before ordering. The reason being is that some are not approvable. Amazon is an option for the undersuit. Not sure is the sizes will fit, but the prices are great. Here are some examples: Shirt: https://www.amazon.com/WANAYOU-Compression-Running-Athletic-T-Shirt/dp/B074S5GTN9/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1528528051&sr=8-1&keywords=womens+black+compression+shirt Pants: https://www.amazon.com/Homma-Activewear-Compression-Slimming-Leggings/dp/B07235BKW6/ref=sr_1_5?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1528528936&sr=1-5&nodeID=7147440011&psd=1&keywords=womens+black+compression+pants Best of luck on your build, and be sure to ask questions if you have any issues! -
TK52417 requesting ANH-Stunt EIB status (AP) (838)

Hi Gary, and welcome and thank you for your EIB application. I appreciate your patience, so let's take a look. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All the required submission photos have been posted., your armour displays all necessary element as set out in the level 2 CRL, Congratulations on a job well done!. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. There are a few areas that could use some attention, which I will go over here, sir. The tube stripes have 2 issues. They will need to be moved closer, and they should not extend behind the ears. They should be about a #2 pencil width from the cheek. Reference images Your shoulder bells should be moved closer to your shoulder bridge. I read in your thread that you had tried to adjust these and your bicep rode up, so the you may have to adjust the bicep/bell connection. I see you have removed most of the return edges from the bottoms of the bells, but you can actually remove it all. A hot water bath may help widen the opening so you can bring them in closer to the chest/back plate. Reference image Reference image Reference image It looks as if the return edges on your forearms may be a tiny bit long at the top, and a quick trim with a Dremel will get you where you need to be. A small fix, but it's all about accuracy. Reference image As mentioned in your thread, you will need to take a few minutes to remove the white paint from your posterior snaps. Reference image Another quick fix is to add a quick coat of black paint to your charging handle: Reference image Centurion Suggestions:In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here. It will take a little time to re-do the tube stripes, but these will be a necessity for level 3, brother. The other items should be pretty easy. Again.. congrats, and great to see another EI for the FLG!! -

Hi Nizam, and thanks for your EI submission! I will be basing the review on the photos of you wearing your bucket, but before proceeding I will need you to post the following photos please. Thanks! 1. Backlit lenses showing green color. 2. Right side detail. (Arms up with a close-up of ab/kidney connection). 3. Left side detail. (Arms up with a close-up of ab/kidney connection). 4. Bottom of cod and posterior plates showing snaps/rivet. 5. Interior strapping. 6. Ab details. 7. Blaster photo (right side). 8. Blaster photo (left side). 9. Close up photo showing D-ring. 10. Type (maker) of the blaster. Lastly, I am assuming this is for ANH Stunt. Please let me know and I will change the title of the thread for you.

Hey Zac, and thank you for your ANH-Stunt EI application. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required submission photos have been posted, and I am very pleased to announce your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. On behalf of Tony and myself, congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Just a few small notes on this outstanding build, brother. I noticed that your right shoulder bridge could use a bit of trimming to match the left one. This quick and easy fix will add to the look of of your armor Perfect job on the shoulder bell to shoulder bridge placement, but they could be closer to your back plate. Trimming all the return edge from the bottom of your shoulder bells will help, or maybe giving them a hot water bath to help reshape them a bit. Reference image Reference image As mentioned earlier in your thread, I would definitely hit your scope with some black spray paint. You can have some brass showing, of course, but toning it down will add to a better look, Reference image In several shots it shows your posterior plate actually riding over your kidney plate. It should actually be underneath and as level as possible. Great job on that double-snap set-up, (I swear by it), but I would suggest taking 10 minutes to make 2 new (tighter) nylon straps for the kidney/posterior connection. Reference image Centurion Suggestions: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. A really quick fix is needed for your drop box, (just tighten it up a tad). The CRL states that there should be a "minimal gap between belt and box". Reference image

Hey Colin, welcome back and thank you for your Centurion application. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted. I appreciate you making the repairs suggested at EI...nice work! Your armor now contains all necessary elements to qualify you for Centurion. Tony and I would like to congratulate and welcome you to the ranks, brother. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: The only suggestion I can suggest would be to glue the drop box straps in place. I the standing shots I can see that you have them aligned with the ends of the belt, but in the rear photo they still seem to sit a little too far in, and you will need to keep them in place. Congratulations Centurion, now get out there and make the Outer Rim Garrison proud!

April 2018 Request for CRL Updates thread
justjoseph63 replied to Daetrin's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Over the last few years (and especially the last few weeks) I have noticed that for some reason a lot of EI applicants are painting the rivet on the cod and/or the snaps on the bottom of the posterior plate white. Since this is not permitted for higher levels what does everyone think of the following suggestions, (in green). Not trying to make my job easier, lol, just hoping to save some Troopers the trouble of having to go back and remove it. Posterior armor OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Two male snaps are present on the lower center tab of the Posterior Armor. Snaps do not need to be functional. Snaps shall not be painted Abdomen Armor Side Rivets are painted white. A single male snap on the top right corner of the ab plate is present. A single split rivet or brad is present on the lower tab of the abdomen armor. Rivet does not need to be functional Lower tab (cod) rivet shall not be painted -

Hi Colin, welcome and thank you for your EIB application. Let's take a look. Spectacular build on this ATA armor, sir, and those ab/kidney and back/kidney/posterior connections are amazing! There are a few items I would like to go over to make the overall look even better! The shoulder bell to shoulder bridge connections are spot-on, but they need to sit a bit closer to the biceps. Removing all of the return edge on the bottom will help a lot. (See reference image below). Reference Image Reference image Reference image The top and bottom of your ABS belt could use a little trimming. Not a critical item, of course, but really easy 5 minute fix that will add to your total look,. If you decide to do it, don't forget to re-do the 45 degree angles on the corners. Reference image Centurion Suggestions:In this section we prepare you for Centurion, and if there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here to get you to where you need to be for level 3. Your drop boxes will need to be aligned with the outside edge of your ABS belt. An easy fix!! CRL states: Level three certification (if applicable): Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box Reference image You will need to change out the screws on your TD, Colin. As stated in the CRL : "Level two certification (if applicable): Clips shall be attached with slotted, pan head style screws, and be black (two per clip)." Reference image Here is a close-up shot of the type used if it helps; An overall outstanding job on this armor, Trooper. You have obviously put a great deal of thought into this build, and it definitely shows. Looking forward to seeing your Centurion submission in the near future!

Welcome back Peter, and thank you for your Centurion application. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required submission photos are present. Thank you for making the suggested updates to the drop box and and raising the forearms. Beautiful job on your build Trooper . Tony and I are pleased to announce your armor displays all the necessary requirements as set out in the CRL. Congratulations and welcome to Centurion! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: Nothing more to add, brother. Excellent job

Hi again, Peter! Almost there, sir... almost there. I saw the photo in your EI submission where you had the clamps on your drop box attachment, but it looks as if the glue(?) didn't work too well as the drop box is still out of alignment a bit. Please add a bit more glue to keep them in place and post a new photo for me. Thanks!!

TK6306 requesting Skytrooper EIB status (CFO) (835)
justjoseph63 replied to Thumpy~'s topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hi Alan, and welcome to your EIB review. Thank you for applying. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. Super nice job on that build, brother, and I appreciate you taking to the ime on those fixes. On behalf of Tony and myself, a big congratulations on being the first Sky Trooper in the Legion to reach level 2! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor Not a whole lot to add here, Alan. There are a few small cosmetic issues on your bucket which would add to the overall finished look of the incredible job you did, mainly the ABS paste around the ears and on the vocoder. A bit of time with some fine grit sandpaper and paint would make this a showpiece! In addition, for your Centurion submission (which I hope to see soon) could you post up some detailed pics of your chest box, including the top? You may as well show off the great job you did! Lastly, it would be awesome (but not necessary) to see a short video clip of your pack lights and sounds in action! Centurion Suggestions:In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here. As stated in the CRL, for level 3, you will need to change out the flat green lenses for the bubble type as seen below: Reference image Again, fantastic job, Trooper, and looking forward to seeing you at level 3! -
TK-12124 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB (834)
justjoseph63 replied to IBSkyde's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
I gotcha squared away on that, Jon. It was my mistake. As noted, some of the items like the TD and ABS belt are suggestions rather than requirements for level 3. If you look at many of the Troopers in the films, there will always be the "odd one out" who's costume has a mistake, but for the sake of overall appearance we suggest that armor match the overall "ideal" look, which provides continuity and gives the wearer a better appearance. See you at level 3 next! -
TK-12124 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB (834)
justjoseph63 replied to IBSkyde's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hi Jon, thank you for your EI application, let's have a look! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos are present, and great job on that kit, sir! That being said, your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. On behalf of Tony and myself, welcome to level 2. Congratulations Trooper! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by us and your fellow troopers. If there were any suggested corrections they would be listed here. There are a few areas that could use some attention which I will go over below: Your left forearm needs to be dropped about an inch to line up evenly with the right, which will also bring it closer to your wrist and reduce that gap as well. Should be an easy fix by extending the elastic just a bit. Reference Image Your left shoulder bridge looks a little short in the back. Shortening the ab/back connection strap would help bring this in, as well as bring the back/posterior armor up. In your main photos it looks a bit low, but in the lower photo on your submission thread (bottom right below) it looks just right. Reference image The TD plate could use some shifting to a higher position. The O ring on the plate should face upward as shown below: Reference photo I would suggest trimming the top and bottom parts of the ABS belt. A quick and easy fix, but don't forget to re-do the 45 degree angle on the ends. Reference image I realize that there is not much you can do with those crushed ABS belt button covers, but replacing them would give you a much better overall look. Reference image Awesome job on that 3-D E-11, Jon! There are just 2 minor issues that need to be addressed.. The charging handle will need a quick coat of black paint, Reference image and the Hengstler counter needs to be moved forward about an inch. Once these are done, you will be the proud owner of a GREAT looking weapon! Reference image Centurion Suggestions:In this section we prepare you for Centurion. If there were any areas of concern they would be discussed here. Nice job on that shim, Jon, but the rivets on your ab/kidney connection will need to be adjusted a bit as seen below. Reference image Lastly, for level 3 you will need to make sure there is no gap (or overlap) on the left ab/kidney connection. Tightening up/adjusting the strapping should make this perfect! Reference image Overall a super nice build, Jon, and again, congrats on reaching Expert Infantry! Looking forward to seeing you take this all the way to level 3!
