perhaps I should correct my observations then mark... perhaps we should point to a better set of facts? I'm aware that both CFO and RS Props suits are artistically modified and TE and AP also were modified TM is a fan sculpt that provided parts for RSProps and that none of the armor out today is un-modified even TM has upgraded his work over time so a 09' TM is just a tad differet than say a '13 TM. can we improve upon these observations?

I was just trying to show how all the suits are laid out... and the fact that none of them are unmodified in some small artistic way. RS props is the best I love my Ap kits. it's fun. I started in 2009 things have changed in the stormtrooper world.

I like the low brow look. it's the helmet that Ap was made from?

' http://starwars.wiki...ermal_detonator " There are several anecdotes about the armor itself known to the film crews. The molded plastic back plate has two bars and a circular impression, comically called the "twinkies and donut" as if the backpack was an emergency food storage unit. The canister on the rear belt was originally going to be a lightsaber/laser sword due to early drafts of the artwork and film script having swordplay be fairly common, and laser swords carried by nearly every character. The armor was also noted to be somewhat uncomfortable to wear, and actors in it would tend to prefer to sit on saw horses rather than in normal chairs. "

I always have my personal handler. with his help and expertise I have done it under 5 min... maybe less. alone... I have to use a wall to put the belt on. it's just impossible alone, well almost. when I first had the armor, and I was showing it around, I took it to a friend's house and got everything on in less than 15 I used the corner of the wall to help hold the belt up while I velcro'd it. here's my order of suiting up 1 have undersuit on, with boots on. 2 apply neckseal and baclava with mic in place inside baclava 3 attach PTT with medical tape to my index left hand 4 don silk glove liners 5 don lower AB section by step though the already snapped cod plate attach side shims and han solo snap on right side of clamshel 6 put on shins adjust boots. 7 put on thighs and attach to ab plate mounting points. 8 put harness over shoulders and don the upper T shirt style chest, bells and biceps like a shirt. adjust and have handler position bells and shoulder bridges plug in com. 9 put on armor latex gloves 10 put on forearms. 11 helmet on 12 blaster and com check for volume and function. 13 run out door and downstairs!

they are not original sculpts.. and are fan made resculpted parts meaning that the original design was re-created from fan based measurements not recast... but re-sculpted the RS suit is like other suits it's a combination of recasting and resculpting. all suits have some form of casting sculpting and recast procedures. every suit of armor has the same elements of art. in every case where we have armor cast from the original there has been some modification. below is my description of how it's been explained to me: TE: created parts by recasting originals from the elstree dumpster. (most likely an in studio recast of the SDS bucks, with mods) CFO: cleaned up thighs, fixed areas that needed to be updated. ( cast from the oakley molds and updated for asthetics and fit ) AP: cast from the GF series of bucks, most likely cast from a tour suit, which is post sds in design RS props: cast from an original suit found in england. parts added by TM that were missing.
-
TM did not use original parts to replace the missing parts, instead he provided parts he himself sculpted. this means that the Rs suit is a combination of real and fan based parts. much like the AP suit which is a combination of real and fan made parts resculpted. I personally would go with RS props since it's a sandy and a white tk all at the same time it was used in tunis and england both...

use a variable speed drill and put it on slow

at 6 foot all you need to do is put the shoulder bridges higher on the chest plate ... this lowers the chest and allows for more vertical distance... usually it's one large tab and 5 ribs you can try one large tab and 3 ribs instead

very nice drawings! only slightly different...very well done! -
chicago screws emulate rivets! it simply allows for exchange of parts and cleaning the belt. the belt plastic should be angled at the corners! of course rivets were used on the originals but they were not intended for trooping.. only shooting a film any holster will do in this situation that only has leather folded over and sewn along one seam d day darman and II all have different ways of making the TM pattern simply get a holster and do a TX tutorial showing pop rivets or chigago screws and we have a winner! we nit pick each other all the time around here it's just part of the hobby! we watch with accuracy in mind... have fun and be TX proud!

there is no bayonet lug or flat area on the ROTJ blaster. I know... I have one. good links brothers... spread the true word! there is a cocking lever or handle on blank firing MGC sterlings. some ROTJ versions were just cast replicas, while others were cap firing cap guns. The versions shown might not represent the ROTJ screen used blaster correctly. my MGC has a cocking handle and an open rear spring area.. the bolt cocks, fires, and on safe the bolt cannot be drawn back. the photos shown do not do this replica justice. I cannot see why the centurion ROTJ blaster should not have an open cocking channel with a spring. the real thing does?

Ralph McQuarrie's Concept Stormtrooper "Armor"
TK bondservnt replied to kwdesigns's topic in Concept Armor
I see several versions of armor... that's my main point. the goal in my court is to see variance, tolerance and acceptance of size, design and make. I poke a bit of fun, and I question motives a bit... in the end of the day the goal is a clear representation of RMQ's show of variation in design. he clearly shows that his TK design was intended to be filled with changes and subtle variance. I jest and poke a bit... yet the goal is "accuracy" so far the accuracy point has been pushed to a scale concept... size. I'm with kevin... he's making armor to fit himself. his wife suggests he make armor for more than just himself. again... I would have to agree. my first point is that I believe kevin has the skills to make a good representation of the RMQ tk. I'd just like to keep the design as true as possible and keep the scale intact. in the end of the day none of what I say can be taken as a negative statement, or any such thing. I in fact am having a great time pointing out things that people need to keep notice of.. it's all in good faith, and it's all with the point of being accurate and fun. the drawings and the jest speaks for itself. I would like to see the shoulder bells like the han and chewie drawing at the elevator. the backpack. and everything! I'm on the side of kevin in this... and I'm also on everyone's side. can't wait to wear this armor! correct billy... there is a main theme... and that is the best part. my point is that with only a few changes kevin can make all the versions. several shoulder designs, a few abdomen changes... some backpacks... ton's of potential. when I look at the renderings RMQ did I see sandtroopers, shock troopers and TK's. variance. he designed the shapes different on purpose... that is the target. as far as I see. stay on target!
