4 Set Build!
TK bondservnt replied to theunemployedstormtroopers's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
when you're putting a lid together, it's best not to drill the cheek screws until you've got a flush brow. I put the brow trim on, cut to size, then attach the faceplate to the center of the back cap with tape from the inside. then I check my fitting location by pressing down on just the cheek part until each side lays flush across the inside of the brow, and the cheeks lay flat. I drill the cheeks on the back cap first. then checking my alignment I drill and mount one side cheek to the faceplate. pressing across and checking to make sure that the brow lays flat with the faceplate pushing up against the inside of the back cap, I set the other cheek bolt. the key is to see how the parts line up, and with only pressure at each cheek point. when the helmet is completely screwed together it applies pressure and should be "bent" into shape at the lower parts of the ears. ear trimming is always done after the back and cap are together. start by taking off as little as you can, and leave a lot on... only drill and mount the ears when they lay up against the ear and are very close without any pressure. -
I think that polls should have large response numbers from the detachment to be valid. these polls should be sent out in e-mails to every trooper in the whole detachment and votes should be cast from almost "every" member to even be considered the official binding opinion of the detachment. polls with low numbers like these are not very professional for a vote. ah... non cannon events, here I come!

I'm gonna be there... all I need is directions, time and date.

Upgrading my armor. CAP TX
TK bondservnt replied to DarkTrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
My recent ATA stealth kit is styrene FYI. -
it's interesting how they look thinner at the temples on the horizontal axis. almost like it's a little taller and thinner than the TM next to it. it looks a little smaller? cool to see!

New Black TX Belts
TK bondservnt replied to TKittell's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
yeah, I'd have to agree with pushing for a slight change on this spec. I have to ditch my silver tubestripes as well for a TX build. I'd rather have that nice silver contrast with silver lenses, and silver tubestripes... but the CRL has flat, shiny or light blue stripes. probably will go for flat black. I like the texture of a canvas belt such as this... any way to make it shiny? -
all I have left to purchase for some future birthday is a TM suit assembled by you and peter!

u can get 70 virtual inches with a set of sunglasses monitors. all you'd have to add is that pile shag carpet in yellow and lime green. and a lava lamp.

well billy, it's all thanks to the team of people who produced these designs. AL really is the one responsible for the details. the blog thread was somthing I found during my endless research to get the best details for my upcoming pipe build. -
I bought myself a few. ATA black armor. TK boots (they are killer by the way!) blaster parts. new scopes and neckseal. HWT backpack parts. candy, beer and cigarettes. steak and potatoes. was a trooper birthday in toto.

Replacing Hero lenses with stunt
TK bondservnt replied to zsavk's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
some careful cutting with a small sharp knife score from the outside and score from the inside. apply pressure. score a little more. if they used hot glue, then the flannel trick and hairdryer will work. if they used e-6000 then you should just be able to pull them off after some pressure has been applied. I've actually torn apart e-6000 with my bare hands quite easy. -
well armed troops always look better!

New Empire Strikes Back Armour Build
TK bondservnt replied to firebladejedi's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
sure would like to see the printout on the screws, wires, rivets and snaps. then it would be nice to see strapping kits with these little wires? can you give us the stats, and suppliers numbers to start ordering parts? -
again, I would suggest AP. he is ABS80 on these boards.

I have both. it's hard to say. AP and ATA come from the same "type" of armor called the TE line. they look very close to each other in appearance. even there are differences that some will point out, about the arms, and legs. ect... the AP armor is very strong and resistant to "some" types of abuse, but you really need to invest in a large plastic tub to protect your armor inside. AP armor when trimmed with a box cutter and a sheet of sandpaper is ready to strap up and wear very quickly. for example, if you have the skills and the materials you can build and wear an AP helmet in a single day. granted you need to purchase some extra materials for the AP helmet build to properly represent the legion. once painted the ATA helmet is EIB ready out of the box. painting armor takes time and to get good results, you need to invest in more construction time and materials. and you usually need a place indoors that is safe to leave painted objects curing for several days at a time. think hours of wet sanding and painting to get it right! no matter which one you eventually choose, you will have cracks, chips, scratches, and dirt on it. it's part of the wearing of armor. HIPS has the advantage of being painted, so if you "mess it up, or crack it" then you can repair it. ABS is strong and allows the polishing of some dings and scratches, but also can be painted, even though it does not usually need to be. ABS can also be repaired by using ABS paste made from abs dust and the right mixture of solvents. that same paste can be used as glue to assemble the suit. hands down, ABS is stronger. using any armor tutorial in the TE line of armor builds really helps a lot.

Does anyone never tried walkie talkie?
TK bondservnt replied to lightside's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
wouldn't it be nice if each trooper had a multi-channel com. 1 channel for broadcast to outside. 2 channel for broadcast to squad level 3 channel for all trooper units how about having the garrison level commander decide the channel for their own squad. the all trooper units channel would allow for events where troopers from across the whole detachment could talk, and it's cool for unit separation on the regional level. I sure wish that we had an optional system to provide for troopers who want this functionality. -

Strange armor details
TK bondservnt replied to lightside's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I can sit down in my AP. I can get back up again. that's good enough for me. it looks like billy and paul have a problem with understanding what I say. why don't you take a step back gentlemen and listen to your own voice. I have always praised the TM suit? and there is not one single reason to take offense at the posts I offer. both TM and AP can flex. granted the TM is more flexible... ok, now lets see everyone flex their suit to the breaking point, time, after time after tims... it WILL crack and split in half.
