  1. I believe they have two. A maker bot (I forget the model) and some sort of "build your own" that came in a kit. The best part is the only time I have to spend there was the orientation. I can send him the STL file and he prints it out and tells me when it's ready. It of course will have that "pixilated" look to it but I bought some stuff called "XTC 3D" made by smooth on that is a brush on, self leveling epoxy that is designed to smooth out all of the ridges. I'm told that resin printers exist that can give you a smooth print. I have the receiver plate for my T-21 ordered so I will get to play with the stuff soon enough. I've also finished the file for a pineapple gaffi head I'm going to print out for my Tusken. I haven't even gotten my first print yet and I'm addicted. Here is the receiver plate and gaffi: The only problem is that they print in some sort of organic plastic which has no heat tolerance (like no more than 140 F). He said that printing in ABS was too smelly for inside the library. Hopefully the XTC 3D stuff will protect it. For the receiver plate and gaffi though I'm going to attempt to cast them in resin. I'm going to go ahead and send off the order for the cylinders and will post pics when I get them in. Thanks for the good words Aaron!
  2. Just want to say thanks for all of the research you guys did and I wanted to show you what I did with it. I recently discovered that my local library has a 3D printer so I've been teaching myself 3D modeling. I'm in the middle of a Bapty conversion on my E-11 and needed a new set of power cylinders. So I spent the day modeling two sets. A "Tunisian" version and an ideal version as a sort of control (I believe you have them listed as styles D and A respectively). This is what I ended up with: And this is a closeup of my capacitor: So what do you guys think?
  3. There is always something else you can do but I think as far as my receiver plate is concerned I'm done modeling it. Next up to see how it prints out!
  4. So I've been pretty unhappy with how my receiver plate has been turning out. Well it turns out that my local library has a maker space with a 3D printer so I've decided to try modeling a receiver plate on my computer and then print it out as a prototype to cast (the plastic that it uses to print can't stand up to more than 140 F so it would make sense to get it into a different materiel since the interior of my car runs that high in the summer). I've got about 2/3 of it modeled. What do you guys think so far?
  5. OK so I've got some more work done. I'm not incredibly happy with the way my receiver plate is coming out but I still have a ton of bondo-ing to do. I've got some wood staining done, made a pho brass butt plate, cut the frame of the rear sight out, put some soft details on the receiver plate, put on the "cooling" tubes, put a magazine receiver on, put an original Lewis gas regulator key on the bottom of the barrel, and an original Enfield Sling swivel on the butt stock. Been a productive weekend all and all.
  6. DZ-17620 requesting 501st status. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=17494
  7. So just a follow up. Finished my tusken and am a legion member now (DZ-17620). Got the scarecrow mask done though it's not my favorite. Got a Jawa done for my daughter. ...and I finished my ATA "stop that ship" TD bucket Note I did repair that white spot on the tube stripe in the last picture. I had some super glue on my finger and it took the blue right off where I accidentally touched it.
  8. ...and as promised: So OK! I got a bit side tracked with a Tusken build (501st approved now) and putting together my ATA bucket. But I'm back to it! First off for this new round I got out my old trusty pandatrooper templates and got a good transfer on to some woof for my receiver plate and did some slight modifications. ...and I've started getting all the piping cut and placed. I bought a size too small for my front barrel but some cutting and gluing with a yoga mat later and I got the right diameter. The plan is just to Bondo that whole part. Not much done but it feels good to get back to it. I ordered an original Lewis gas regulator key and an Enfield strap swivel this week so should get those in the mail soon. T-21 here I come!
  9. I dig the snowtrooper. From that one shot the stormtrooper looks to me like they designed it for an action figure. But I'm holding judgement until I see the entire new suit.
  10. From one of the rumors I heard it almost sounded like the new helmets looked like the navy commandos but that's just speculation on my part.
  11. I've been using this as a resource lately for my Tusken since I have several different materials that need gluing: http://www.thistothat.com
  12. So it's been a while since I finished my E-11 (Love child) and have posted anything on here. I just recently got on to ATA's waiting list so I should be getting armor around February to March (though admittedly TD). In the mean time I decided to tackle a Bantha Rider and some other side projects. As far as the Tusken is concerned I've gotten my mask done and am well on my way to finishing it up by the end of August. This is a pic of my Poor Man's kit with modifications inspired by Darth Voorhees: If you're curious this is the build thread for the mask: http://www.kraytclan.com/forum/topic/3961-trainwrecks-poor-man-kit-build/ I've also been asked by a friend to attempt a scarecrow mask for a haunt that he helps run. I'm obviously only in the very beginning stages of this build but here are some pics to give you an idea of where I'm heading on this: So what do you guys think?
  13. I sure am grateful your documenting all of this now so when in the future I get my armor I can just follow along! Looking great Tim!
  14. For your consideration. http://makingstarwars.net/2014/06/stormtroopers-star-wars-episode-vii/
  15. I don't know if this is my phone Tim but almost all of those pictures say "This person moved or deleted this image."
  16. I also read though it was an hydraulic door slamming onto his ankle...
  17. Like Eric said. The Star Garrison recruit page on Facebook is the way to go. Questions can be answered (not by me though, I'm in the same boat as you). Here is a good place to be for questions now that I think about it.
