  1. Getting the diamond pattern with the bondo is just brilliant! Absolutely inspiring brother!
  2. This right now is my favorite thing. He totally knows he isn't going to be able to keep this sucker under lock and key.
  3. LOL. I don't even have the cash to finish my T21 build let alone buy a Lewis. I don't outright remember what that was called but had something to do with on oil or lubricant resivour in the stock. This site has a bunch of info on the Lewis plus downloadable pdfs of the various user manuals throughout the years. http://www.forgottenweapons.com/light-machine-guns/lewis-light-machine-gun/
  4. This has a close-up of the top of the receiver but no close-up of the sight. http://www.deactivated-guns.co.uk/detail/1914_lewis.htm
  5. So some of you NTX peeps have already seen this but for the rest I am just going to cut and paste this update: So I just thought I'd give a little bit of an update on where I stand right now. I'm still working towards the ultimate goal of going TD but in reality even with getting the kit by next March I still have to deal with sourceing all the other little bits which at my budget is going to be another year of saving and collecting. I can be a patient man but 2+ years before I get to troop seems a bit long for me. So I'm still attempting to get my armor by next year but am going to put the rest of the TD on the back burner for now (including this gun ). All of that being said it still leaves me with what costume to go with. I had wanted to go with an ESB IN but because of the helmet, officers uniform, and English riding boots it still seemed to be a bit of a strain on my budget. But since I'm ultimately going with a TD I thought why not keep the other costume to the same planet? I like dirty (which is why I'm going with a TD in the first place). So without further adu I would like to announce that on Friday I ordered my Poor Man's Tusken Raider's Mask Kit! This will still probably take me tell December to complete the whole thing but it has the benefit of being able to save and buy a new piece of the puzzle every month or so (as opposed to every couple of months). Plus I'll be able to craft most of it myself which learning new skills is going to be half the experience for me. Anyway you guys have been great so far so thanks with all the help and advice you have given! I WILL GET BACK TO THIS BUILD! In the mean time if you just can't live with out a TrainWreck build in your life you can check out my Tusken Sniper Rifle build over at the Krayt Clan Forums: http://www.kraytclan.com/forum/topic/3869-trainwrecks-eventual-tusken-sniper-rifle-build/
  6. Here is another set posted today: ----------
  7. I've never personally seen one. You could probably find a Lewis replica kit but for the price I've seen those go for you might as well buy a pre built one or a hyperfirm. Really a scratch build is your only option for cheap (that I know of).
  8. PS. I had the same idea about sinking my fins in deeper to make it look more authentic. I'm glad to see someone else doing it!
  9. That's looking awesome! If you don't want to fabricate the d ring you can find the swivel for an Enfield strap pretty cheaply on eBay and various gun surplus sites.
  10. Hey. Do you know what the minimum order amount was on that sight? It's not jumping out at me.
  11. So I jumped on a lot of 6 Enfield slings on eBay for cheap but it turns out of course that they were straps for Enfield ammo pouches. They are one inch wide and 28 inches long... I'm tempted to make them work (sewing time anyone?) but man! Well I didn't name myself Train Wreck for nothing.
  12. You see the great thing about a kit is it's a kit. The bulk of what you need is there. I'm not wanting for time just materials... The E-11 all things considered whent pretty well. But it was all there... Ah well. I'll get to it. Today is garage cleaning day so that ought to keep me occupied until work tomorrow.
  13. Sorry for the media blackout. Unfortunately with summer rapidly approaching I've had to start diverting funds to things like daycare and one kid is joing up with a swim team (but my wife's car will finally be paid off in two months so hopefully that will open up some funds). I did find a hobby store the next town down from me where I can source styrene for the side details and some parts on the magazine receiver. I also just jumped on a cheap lot of 6 Enfield straps so I'll at least have those and will will be able to offer 4 of them up for sale pretty cheaply for anyone else working on a T-21. I did come to the unfortunate realization that my stock is a quarter inch too thin. I kept thinking it was a bit narrow. I'm just going to live with it for now. My grip has also come out a bit wonky as well as the trigger guard turned out to be too thin and the edeges on it broke off when I was hand sanding. I'll do repairs with Bondo when I get some and document the whole process. Until then take care all!

  15. If I remember correctly Troopergear was the one pulling NE but just recently switched back to the AM molds.
  16. Looking good. I know you decide d to go with 1/16th but remember if the steel is being a pain just a little spot heating right above where you want to bend will always make it very easy as long as you have a good edge to bend it over. The anticipation on this one is killing me.
  17. Yeah Tim. What really got me was a friend asked her what her favorite Star Wars character was a few weeks ago. She looked at him and said the green girl. At first I was stunned. She couldn't seriously be talking about the slave twi'lek fro Jaba's in Jedi. Then it dawned on me. She was talking about the twi'lek pilot from the Star Wars Rebels clip running around last month. She hasn't shown much interest in the Clone Wars but she is dead set on watching Rebels with me. ...oh and at all con they were giving out the kids activity book where they had them matching helmets to the trooper. She got 100%.
  18. Unfortunately RT is still in the higher end of the armor. I'm 6'3, 230 , and walk for a living and have the calves to proove it (I know for a fact the smaller shin armor doesn't fit around my calves) Just budget wise I am having to go with something smaller. I know I'll make it work I just hope in the end I'm OK with the amount of black that will be showing around my knees. I forsee a lot of shims and bondo in my future.
  19. Eh. Stalled out for now. Sander broke. I still need to pick up pipe, styrene, and bondo. ...and I will not tap into my armor budget. I'm hoping to get back on track in a week or two but for now I'm just going to stare at my butt stock and dream.
