Frankly I haven't been keeping up so that may be entirely correct. Either way Lucasfilm is going to have to get those TKs made somewhere...

So just a really quick moment of wild speculation. So we know that Lucasfilm let Anovos into there archives to get scans of the original TKs. We also know that the first Star Wars Anthology film, Rouge One, is probably going to take place right before ANH. So! Does that open the possibility that Anovos will be supplying OT TK outfits for Rouge One and that we all just possibly ordered kits derived from the new Anthology film? Just thinking out loud here...

I actually went back and painted over mess ups with white enamel (instead of removing paint). That's how I achieved that "textured" look.

The beauty of going TD is you can cover some of those painting mistakes with weathering. I repainted so many parts of my helmet that you can see the different levels of paint if you look closely. But all in all after weathering it looks great (to me at least).

Yeah trimming them back has been one of my ideas. I really need to experiment a little before I play too much around with the return edges. Because it's an AM kit I already had to cut out the elbow notch on one of the forearms that I'll be adding a return edge to. It also occurs to me that if I make the joint a wedge shape with a reinforcing strip inside and covered by the outside strip I might be able to lessen the angle of the point and just heat it up and flatten it out. It has occurred to me that I might need to order new biceps so I guess if I mess up too much that will be my option. just thought I'd ask around before I go to headlong into this. Thanks!

So occasionally I need to remind myself why I'm called TrainWreck. This would be one of those moments. So I trimmed my biceps and found afterward that three of the four joints at the bottom seem to come to a point like this: You can see it here as well: So I have my own ideas on how to solve the problem but thought I'd ask you O great internet brain first. Any novel solutions to this?

Thanks guys. Now... STOP! Bondo Time! So on a side note, if you leave the orbital sander on a PLA 3D print for too long in one place you will melt the plastic a little. You do get to see the honeycomb structure underneath though... Then a quick coat of XTC 3D to smooth it out. It looks shinier and smoother than it really is. Once the epoxy dries tomorrow I'll sand it again and then hopefully do a rub-n-buf layer.

So it's got it's problems (the dome is too tall for one). Definitely not an exact match. But for my first attempt at a 3D printed helmet I designed myself I'll go with it.

So a friend happened by the library and noticed that the front of my daughter's Sabine helmet was done. The first pic is one he took for me the second was one I took with my daughter. It's a bit large for her but Sabine has a bobble head anyway and she can grow into it. He was having issues getting the back to print out so I just sent him edited files that will hopefully work out better:

Also someone wanted to know on another forum how the helmet would print out. This is what I will have to assemble and work with when I get it:

Started working on the shoulder area tonight. Assembling, trimming, shaping, and first test run of the wood glue layering (the PVA glue has me starting to suspect I don't know what I'm doing). We shall see...

Actually found mine on evilbay. I'll need to paint them but they were $30 shipped so I can't argue. ---------

Thanks guys. I'll try to keep this updated. I'm hoping to have it done by March before my TD armor arrives and I dive into that but I always have a dozen projects going and since I'm still a big novice at this foam work I'm trying to get my head around how to proceed. Unfortunately the helmet probably won't be fully printed out until at least the end of February.

So I started working on my 12 year old's Sabine costume. I have only done really basic stuff so far. I used these templates plus the shoulder bell off a TK pepakura file to cut the armor out in foam: http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/264/5/b/downloadable___sabine_armor_templates_by_eitanya-d803985.pdf I also got a pepakura file for a Death Watch blaster and have cut and glued that together (still a lot of work to do on these): I recently have started using a 3D printer at my local library so I gave a shot at modeling the helmet for a 3D print. Please note the helmet is my work but the range finder is not. I just grabbed one on line, threw some extra greeblies on it, and used it in the photos. I still need to model a more accurate one for the helmet. It's not perfect (I had a "she is 12, that's good enough" moment). One of the things I'll have to do is sand down that ridge that runs around the top of the helmet. Also I have noticed that everyone seems to include the usual indentation in the cheeks of the helmet but Sabin's doesn't have those. Here are some of the reference photos I used while working on the helmet to prove that point (some I scavenged on line, some are screen shots I took): Any hoo. It will be a while before I see any of the helmet. It is going to be printed in quarters and since it is a large print and I'm using a service at the library I'll have to wait a while.

I agree. I have part of this being showed on my T-21 thread. I'm in the middle of trying to add the resisters and indention behind the back caps. when I finish I'll start a 3D print thread.
