The number of stripes is not very consistent. I think instead of going for an exact number you should just try to recreate the look against a screen cap of your choice.

Ent = eyes, ear, nose, throat OR EMT = emergency room

Excellent - thanks for the update Ed

All I can say is that anyone with the stones to make their own molds from scratch deserves respect. Hard to tell from the angles - can't wait to see a pull

Necromancer time! OK, there should be enough interest to get a new run done. Any ETA on when to expect it? Or, those sweet challenge coins?

Ahhhh someone help with my back/chest plate assembly
Daetrin replied to vtswordfish's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I'm using velcro in the front and nothing in the back for now as my suit will probably go sandy at some point. If I were to stay TK, I'd glue just the fronts. There is no need to secure them to the the back -
I'll have to get another. After listing to a lot of sound systems the Rom still comes out on top. That said, making a 100% helmet contained solution is not fun/easy, so being able to mate one with your rig would IMHO be the best of all worlds.

I'll take you up on that idea - just need to sell some stuff first...

Roger that - the only downside of TM is the US->GBP exchange rate ;-)

I'd rather eat a home cooked meal at your place - better food and ambiance IMHO. I'll commit to posting an updated accounting in the Supporters forum later today.

How long should the FX armor last?
Daetrin replied to vrblasasn's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I bought my FX back in '00 or '01 (can't recall) and it sat in a closet for several years. I actively trooped in it for what - two years now - pretty well, plus the Rose Parade. No signs of cracking at all. I have an older AP helmet that's almost as old and also shows no signs of weakness. And as my garrison mates attest I abuse my armor - even playing a few downs of football in it. Yours must be from a bad set of plastic would seem to me. -
Welcome sandy bro! Excellent TM suit you have there and thanks for sharing There's one thing missing though that would make this a 10 (other than shipping it to me)...a SB pauldron ;-)

Not sure what the "experts" use, but most clone kits and the RC kits are ABS and they are all painted. IIRC you have to first prime it for sure then add the color on to that. I know Krylon paints are used for the color but can't recall for the base. I bet someone on CTN would know for sure
-
It may be worthwhile to paint the whole suit. Not as nice as pure ABS per se, but then at least all the parts would match exactly. It's not much of a stretch - all clone armor for instance are painted, as are all TE2 suits.

WRT to sitting and bio breaks, a lot has to do with your body type and how you put your armor together. I've seen people completely cut off the cod and have it as an item you can 100% remove w/o taking off other armor pieces. Makes a bio break very easy. My FX is all snap/strap that I can put on/off very easy, so even w/o a cut cod I don't have issues. Just undo the crotch snap, unsnap thighs, and I'm OK. As for sitting - my experience is that anyone can do this if they are tired enough. A lot of people who said they couldn't sit ended up doing just that after the Rose Parade. My only concern about sitting isn't freedom of movement but cracking that tab on the butt plate (did that once on my clone armor, but so far been OK on the FX). I can sit equally fine w/o a cut cod piece, but others say it makes all the difference for them.

Torch Passed Earlier this month we moved FISD off of my personal web host account over to the one that BSN & CTN are on. What this means is that while I still own the domain and licenses, Chris & Greg will now shoulder the cost of hosting the site. Hat Passed To date I've received $185 in donations for this site, which leaves me at a deficit of $190 out of my own pocket. 14 people to date have sponsored the site (you'll notice the little "Supporter" extra bit in their group name). I'd like to ask that a few more folks step up and help fund the operation of this site. What do you get out of it? Aside from a nice warm fuzzy of helping maintain the site you use, you're group title gets that green extra bit that says you're special ;-) Also, you get a larger PM quota and access to the Supporters only area of the site. To make a donation, just go to your controls and in the left side of the page under Options is a link for "Purchase Paid Subscriptions". Thanks All!

New name for Deployement
Daetrin replied to Scott M.'s topic in FISD Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) Requirements
I'd also like to suggest: Commando Raider with no movie identifier. Considering that most people will only have one TK suit I'm no longer hip to having movie identifiers. Stormtroopers are supposed to be not the standing army, but at the forefront. First through the door and all. Both of these suggest rapid action and aggressive behavior, exactly what a stormtrooper should be. I like "Raider" best myself. -
A new run should be started pretty soon. Ed can provide the details.

Ahhhh someone help with my back/chest plate assembly
Daetrin replied to vtswordfish's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I'd advise not gluing the bridges to both front and back and certainly not using them for structural connectivity. You should use white strap (I use 2") to connect the chest/back (attaching to the underside) to hold them together. The bridges should be attached only to the front (using velcro or adhesive), and just let them rest on the backs (no velcro, etc. required). On my first suit I used the bridges to connect the chest/back (using rivets in my case) and but wish I never had. For the second suit I used the above method - much better. Sorry I don't have pix - this is becoming a standard patterns so I'm sure someone else does. -
What does the armor really do?
Daetrin replied to Laspector's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
It is a lie. In this week's People magazine there is a full page ad and the first word is "storm troopers". (yes, it's for Max Factor MAXwear lip colors, but the first thing you notice is the words storm troopers. I tried to find a copy online, but no avail) -

Heck, I like Elite even more than veteran.
