    VT Armour

Like all ANH armor it will be more accurate in appearance than FX. I believe the original source is AP as Andreas indicates.
  2. Moved to HOWTO forum, changed title, unpinned.
  3. We have plenty of EIB with FX, why worry about that? FISD is home to *all* 501st TKs, regardless of armor make. I'll be updating this thread with each new EIB that gets awarded.
  4. We're 21 0 EIB left to go before we hit the 100 mark. Will you be one of them? If you want to be able to say "Yes, I was one of the original 100. I was there when it all began, back in the day." This is our official count-down thread - don't let Lord Vader down. You know what he's like when he's cranky.
  5. Anyone want to make a tutorial for either method? Would love one for the academy site.
  6. Very nice! Anyone mind if I use this thread as a tutorial?
  7. I'd also vote to remove the O2 cylinder. I've done a TD for several years and can't see wearing a pack and a O2 at the same time. The physiology doesn't work this way in real life. I'll update the CRL & EIB standards unless someone objects.
  8. Agreed - this is pretty nice work that you're doing. Can't wait to see the finished result.
  9. Just remember that TKID (e.g. 501st ID) numbers are what you request. It may not be 100% what you get, depending on availability. As noted though there are plenty of numbers left to go before we move to 5 digits.
  10. Compared to a clone this should be easier. You're such a stickler for details I can't imagine you not going for and getting EIB out the gate.
  11. Just to echo what was said before - unless it's someone's personal kit best to stay clear of Ebay. You never really know what you're getting, and it's full of overpriced and under-quality items.
  12. It's amazing that no one did this sooner. Great job Kevin, and interesting twist Tony. Yet one more upgrade I'll be spending money on
  13. The downside of a diagonal is that it doesn't lend itself well to a ribbon version. I think works really well: Objections? Other suggestions?
  14. Just an FYI that while flexible material like vinyl is acceptable for EIB now, it's really discourage in favor of a solid shim of ABS. At some point down the line the EIB standards may be updated to reflect this change.
  15. Some day you'll just have a 3-D scan of yourself and the computer will use it to map out the appropriate files for armor. You're in-home 3-D printer will create a set out of whatever material you want. One thing is for certain this hobby will never stand still. Not just in the stormtrooper world, but in other 501st costumes as well. On the IOC forums they are bemoaning the coming of the Museum Replicas soft costumes. Prices keep coming down, quality up.
  16. True - you should never require anything other than water. It's important that people troop for the right reasons, not free stuff.
  17. Just food, usually. If it's a comic books store they usually give us a discount for that day as well.
  18. Here is the latest from Kevin (who is not able to post more pix)
  19. I'm wondering how it is that a bunch of you have hundreds of posts and one ever more than a 1000 and you guys *still* aren't 501st members yet (TrooperMaster is an exception and has special dispensation). Perhaps you folks need to do a little less blabbing and more armor building
  20. Score one more for the UKG! 78 EIB and counting
  21. I'll be happy to start off: When did you see Star Wars in the theater for the first time and where? May 25, 1977 in Chicago. It was two days after my 9th birthday. What is your favorite Star Wars movie? Star Wars (aka A New Hope) What is your least favorite Star Wars movie? The Phantom Menace What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Helping others. Nature. Airplanes. SciFi/Fantasy. Cute ladies What turns you off? Indecisiveness, lying, stealing. And just plain rude behavior. What is your favorite curse word? F*** What Star Wars Character do you love? The stormtrooper. But if I have to pick a face character, it's Han Solo. What's not to love/admire? What Star Wars Character do you hate? Need you ask? (Jar Jar) How did you first find out about your home garrison? I already had a costume and was looking for people to hang out with, and found them online. What Costume other than your own would you like to attempt? Does it need to be SW related? What Costume would you not like to do? I think Jar Jar is the only one I'd shudder about. What would you like to hear George Lucas say when you arrive at the LucasFilm Gates? And not only do they look like what you saw on screen they actually work. Here's the codes for the Falcon - she's all yours. And that X-Wing over there too. Heck, it's all here - have fun!
  22. In my home garrison we do a "Trooper in the Line of Fire" each month (well it was on a break, starting again) to help garrison mates get to know each other. We pick one person to answer a standard set of questions. It works out great and is a nice way to get to know folks. Since trying to do this for a 200+ person detachment will take time, I'd like to invite each and every FISD member to reply to this topic. The rule - you must answer *every* question. Also, please attach a picture.
  23. Agreed! Check out that E-11 - man that would be great in my man-cave
  24. Dang well better be - I'm getting impatient in upgrading your status ;-)
  25. I was in Fort Benning two summers: 1987 : Harmony Church for basic during Jun-July (like May 25 to July 25 or so). 1988 : Sand Hill for infantry school, same months (I was split option). I was guideon I have the company/units in some photos at home and will post that. For Harmony Church I was in the barracks on the side of the road, opposite the PT field.
