  1. Yes, trim it. Fit it to your arm. Line up the end by the elbow, and trim the wrist area to fit the length of your arm. Then over lap the pieces to fit your arms girth, mark a main control line in the center, trim both sides, and assemble. Good luck man.
  2. I have a suit built by RS and they did not use backing strips. I also have another built by TM, and he did not use backing strips. He did however place a few pieces in key locations as alignment tabs , and they all feel very secure. I am thinking of adding a bit of reinforcement of my own on both kits to the thighs and calfs, just to be safe. 5 mm gap, the cover strips are 15mm so, I would say a backing strip would be a good idea.
  3. How about a blow dryer, hair dryer. Hot water possibly. Search the thread for those words. Good luck.
  4. Looking good man, your almost there.
  5. Good luck, cool picture already...
  6. Ouch, I did something very similar. Just grin and bare it. Then look into TM or RS, AP, MTK, CapWest, ATA. Or just power through following closely to some great threads available on here. Maybe the armor will turn out ok, and you could just upgrade your helmet. It could be worse and you went Jedi Robe... Good luck.
  7. AP is attractive armor. Good luck, much better than JR.
  8. I'll get some other angles and lighting. The RS may be just a tad bit bigger, when I wear them they feel very close in size though. Does anyone know , how much paint is required to hand paint the details on the helmets? I have a quarter ounce of black and grey, but I think I need more to do all three.
  9. Yes Sir, Nice tutorial, funny how i read this about a month ago and forgot to reference during my build. Thanks for the help Scott...
  10. I have one of Mynocks EAS and it is radical. At first I thought I was turning into superman , cause I could hear things coming in all directions, music, birds, crinkling paper, voices, man it was crazy, after a few minutes I could tune out all the other noises and focus in on what was important. I was standing inline backstage at the last convention I attended, we were supposed to do some cosplay skit. Tired, I requested permission to deactivate for a minute and rest my neck and eyes. As I stood slumped over in rest mode, the Klingon standing next to me says, do you have microphone in that thing, referring to our Aker Voice Amplification, I heard him loud and clear, woke me up enough , and I pointed out the EAS which I fixed the tiny mics to the back side of the smallest teeth, and could hear everything around. They all thought it was pretty cool, and I like the fact of being able to communicate. Sometimes people try to get your attention from behind, and we all know that is tricky in armor. Not with the EAS. While the rearward sounds are not as pronounced , you can still hear them with the EAS. I call it a super power... Thanks Mynock...
  11. Yeah , not sure about basic approval or EIB even , I need to cut my thighs and calfs like that, bu don't want to hinder EIB. I would think if you shorten the straps , and pull everything together , you could loose 99% of these gaps. Also when fitting it is best to use your under suit , as the jeans will make you bigger than you need to be , your also going to want the torso up a bit to give ome room for your thighs when you walk. You could drop the back plate just a smidge to help eat up some of that space.
  12. Killer work man... Germain , good eyes bro, it's always nice having all these troopers helping out.
  13. Coming along nicely , my first thought was that you may need to tighten up the strapping between the back-kidney-butt plates, as ther should not be any spacing between the plates. Good looking armor though. The forearms look kinda big. I see you had to add shims to cover your arms, so maybe they are nessescary . Just look a little large near your wrist area. Cover strips. They look a bit on the large size as well. How big did you make them? I believe it's 15 mm on the arms and between 20-25 mm on the legs. Keep up the nice work.
  14. This might be a un nessescary question, as I'm sure you cleaned the inside surface with alcohol correct Eric? That usually makes all the difference.
  15. Ok, so i started a few helmet builds, got them all to about the same stage and thought i would share some of the comparisons. RS on the Left, TM in the middle, and Cap-West on the Right. The RS i will be using for my TD and am trying to replicate the Cantina Sergeant with the Gaps in the Ears. The TM i was going for ANH, and the Scootch lid, i was going to do something Metal Mulisha Style, but i couldnt bring myself to alter the beautiful TK. Thats ok, I have a black lid coming i am going to Trick out... Also i Have a Left over face plate from RS i can't let go to waste so I will be Doing something different with as well... Stay Tuned, It is going to be radical. Next Up... Paint... Oh, My Nerves...
  16. Right, TM enlightened me with that information. I guess they made repairs to the mould, as the first lid I received from them had decent cheek tubes, and the second had huge dents. The replacement faceplate they sent me, was in better condition. I have made more progress on the DT, I will post updated pics soon. Thanks guys...
  17. I've been wanting to try a MTK build as well. Kit looks like its decent quality, not sure if the lid is HIPS, but the ABS seems like it would be more durable. I started a cap-west lid and its Styrene but it is thicker ( than I expected ) and seems to be fairly durable, more so than I expected. I am going to start a helmet build thread on the three I have going now later... RS, TM, Cap-West
  18. TrooperMaster is here on the forums. Look him up and send him a private message. He stays quite busy, but I'm sure he has helmet kits readily available. He is a pleasure to work with.
  19. FX is FX. Some love it, some hate it. It is essentially recast. The armor is thick, but that tends to lead to cracks. Try Scootch, Cap-West, he has some decent lid kits for around 140 , also TrooperBay, his kits seam really nice and affordable. RS is nice being a direct line from a screen used TK. $$$ , but worth it, now if you want clean lines , smooth cap and all attention to the details, TrooperMaster has a gorgeous kit. Comparable in price to RS, but with all the bells and whistles. Good luck. Think Hard...
  20. Oh man, that's gonna be awesome. Looking fantastic bro....
  21. Best bet start new. This does look fx or Jedi robe , you could make a death trooper, but we all really strive for the shiney TK,, so do your research and find out what it is that your really looking for, mediocrity or accuracy .?
