  2. I just bought a DLT 19 from him last week.
  3. I'm doing the same, with a mic and the icomm/amp from tk products mounted behind the chest plate. I'd like to be fully wireless, so that is just more room I'm gonna need in my lid for items. So, a fan (2), batteries to run them, my wireless receiver, microphone, some type of padding, and an external noise amplification system. I'd prefer not to drill holes into the helmet if I can avoid it. And, on too of it all, I want it to look cool. On the inside as well. Lots of trial and error and some planning... I'll post my pics when my lid actually arrives and I get started.
  4. Just trying to think about an easier way.... Maybe just easier to build. I just had the idea because I teach firearms and we use those on the range, and they are phenomenal for the amplification. I do still have concerns over how warm it would get inside the helmet if there is no room for air to be moved around. Just thinking out loud a little.
  5. Because the hearing protection for shooting has mics that are amplified already built in, along with a power source, and a speaker system. Maybe you aren't familiar with what I'm talking about. --------------- This is obviously on the high side, and some components would have to be removed to make it work, but the pieces are All there.
  6. Has anybody actually installed an external noise amplification system? If so, was it worth the money/time/effort? Additionally, what kind of interior padding is everyone had success with? I've soon the post/ video by mynock, but was curious if anyone has done anything Similiar. I was concerned about installing such think padding for a troop, and how the padding would effect the fans. In regards to the external noise amplifier, I was considering tackling this. A pair of ear protection used for shooting is less than the price of buying a sound board, microphones, battery backs, switches, and headphones, and it already comes together. Some modification and I think it could work.
  7. I was thinking more along the lines of ordering a set of a noise amplification headset, like one used for shooting or on a construction set. I'd take apart the necessary parts, and somehow mount the pieces into the motorcycle helmet padding. All those pieces would get mounted into the helmet along with the fans, microphone, batteries, and wireless amplifier for the icomm.
  8. Yea I got all 12v fans, with switches, two separate 9v plugs, rechargeable batteries. I ordered several different types of fans, including the blower type. I've seen several different setups but wanna play with it a little. As far as the external hearing setup, In kind of stuck on whether or not to get the internal motorcycle padding. I think it might limit the air flow some for the fans. Also, I'm not sure what sound amplifier to buy, not sure on the microphones to mount, and how to really get it going. I think the environmental amplification system may be better in theory, but that remains to be seen.
  9. I just ordered from RS.... Went PVC... Although I did want movie accuracy, it's too hard to resist the look and lighter feel and shiny white color of PVC.
  10. Ok order placed. I found there are many different types of fans, and some that claim to be low noise. Due to the relatively cheap cost, I ordered four different fans to do some comparisons. As soon as they arrive, I'll update you on my findings. Now it's time to move onto an external hearing amplification system. Anyone? Anyone?
  11. Thanks so much for that very well laid out and easy to follow post!!!!! Yes, my initial thought is to have two fans on one switch, however, there may be disadvantages to that I haven't thought of yet. Any feelings on that?
  12. I just ordered my setup with the VOX and PTT. Jim emailed me within hours and it's already shipped.
