  1. Well... if you insist on putting these on e-bay, then maybe you could give your buddies in the FISD a little advance warning?
  2. Being 6'6" myself, I have also had this same concern with stuff I buy. But I have found that size XL undergear works for me and have never had any embarrassing "skin" moments.
  3. JT, I should have read this post first... Go to the 501st web site at www.501st.com and check out the "Find Troops Near You" section. Look for the Pacific Outpost in the "Select Unit" drop box. That is your local 501st unit. Getting to know your local 501st members will also help you navigate this exciting new world. Your life will not be the same.
  4. Let me pile on here to also congratulate you on seeing this through! We need more "big and tall" troopers around here! I am 6'6" and LOVE to have tall guys to troop with. It just makes the TK all that much more imposing! Hang in there! You look AWESOME!
  5. I am very interested in this, especially since I will eventually get a new helmet. This makes swapping the internals SOOO much easier.
  6. Paul, Thanks for kick-starting this effort and getting us to where we are. We couldn't have done it without ya! And best wishes in the new job! I have had two jobs in the past with a 45 min commute, so I realize how much bite that takes out of your day. I hope you get SOME time to pop in every now and then!
  7. John, this is a lousy thing to have happen to anyone, but any interrogation is serious business to these guys, no matter how snotty they may appear to be. In the end, they hold "all the marbles" and leave NO wiggle room. I agree that you should see what you can do to "clear" your name for any future travel to the US.
  8. Hey Andrea, you gave me an idea! I know that there are other tall troopers in Europe. I will put out a call for them to join me for a photo with you!
  9. Well, I guess that I will be the first Yank to post that I will be attending. I arrive on Thursday morning and depart on Tuesday and plan to fully volunteer in armor. However, I have not yet made a hotel reservation since I would like to bunk up with someone to help with the hotel rates. Or I may just get a room in the university dorm.
  10. Yup... missing armor and without the offical t-shirt... rats... i hope all the troopers out there will forgive me... where was my handler when i needed her?
  11. Yeah, what he said. Thank you for your service, Bernard.
  12. PM means "Private Message." You've got one.
  13. You mean you really want my autograph? At least the scoresheet hasn't been tampered with...
  14. Hey, Don, they don't call me "Commando" for nothing! Yeah, I had a blast everywhere I went. Fun and good times seemed to be all around. And I really enjoyed meeting you and your sons. I am envious that your kids are involved with you. Mine are, shall we say, somewhat amused... And, Ed, since this is "your" thread, I also want to say that it was a pleasure meeting you as well. You guys were awesome in the Trooper Olympics. Send me a pic of that framed scoresheet. I should have autographed it for you!!!! Also thanks for drafting me into being one of the "models" for the costume panel. I was really quite honored by that, especially since my roomie was the Sandy model in his way-to-cool AP armor!
  15. Thanks for posting. This is the first I have heard of this. I am still learning about the various con opportunities. I will have to check into this. I think an international 501st meeting would be very cool. Please keep us informed. Maybe this should be posted somewhere on the 501st boards?
  16. Jed, I agree with BigTurc. It really is all about build. At 6'3" even FX armor (which I wear at 6'6") will have some extra "black area" between calf, thigh and ab armor, so no set will really fit "perfectly" lengthwise. So it is more about your chest, waist, thigh, and calf measurements (circumference). The AP set is awesome if you have the right body for it (as demonstrated by BigTurc). The best thing to do is try on a set if you are lucky enough to know someone with one. I actually had a chance to try on some AP armor last week at C-IV. My roommate from San Diego had an AP Sandtrooper and he let me try out the various pieces. I confirmed my suspicion that I had the wrong body type for AP.
  17. Ummm... I think he was asking about pants...
  18. Well... I am planning to only drink in places that don't allow little kiddies inside...
  19. Scott, your ability to "soldier on" through all this is an inspiration. Congrats!
  20. Or, you could drink with a straw...
  21. There was a thread in the legion forum about bigger leg and arm pieces, but it seems to have died out. Maybe you could post there which will give it a bump.
  22. Hey Brad! Be careful not to hang around this board too much... you will feel like a kid in a candy store without enough money to buy what you want... cuz you want it all! Seriously, if you are limited on funds (aren't we all?) this is a good place to study up on what you might do before you shell out the cash. Welcome!
  23. Yeah, especially the gauntlets look like they might need to be tailored a bit so they don't bunch up under the forearm armor.
  24. Bernard, I am not so sure. First, everyone has to admit that the Stormtrooper is the ICON of Star Wars (well... maybe after Vader). They set the tone in the first moments of the first film, creating an indelible first impression. Second, did you notice how many Stormtroopers were at the Rose Parade? I don't think they were shoved to the back of the parade! Third, you can never have too many Stormtroopers at an event, and most events I have organized have always asked for Stormtroopers. They are usually the "backbone" of the event. While it is true that younger fans may be more attracted to the clone versions, especially if those are the first white armored warriors they ever saw (first impressions again), it will take a long time (imho) before clones supplant the Stormtrooper as the most ubiquitous Star Wars character. And I agree with Commander Dargas: STAND PROUD!!!
  25. Not a problem, as long as the beer is canon.
