  1. Hey Andrew, Fr?hliche Weihnachten und ein gl?ckliches Neues Jahr! Welcome to the USA!
  2. I am not sure who did it, but I really like the "holiday header" (Vader making a TK snowman) This would make a GREAT holiday card! Nice work to whomever!!! Merry Christmas to all !!!
  3. Glad to hear it, Bernard! I WORE mine today at a troop at the Mall of America, ringing bells for the Salvation Army. However, occasionally, some folks wanted their picture taken, like this:
  4. Hey Carlos, Check out the Rose Parade threads on the 501st boards. There is a lot of discussion about what works and what doesn't work. They are very concerned about hydration for that parade too... 5 miles of marching. Here in MN we don't have to worry about stuff like that in the winter... only frostbite!!!
  5. Well, a midnighte message (midnight PST that is)! I suppose I can be the next one to post. What makes me who I am and animates me (i.e. makes me tick) is internal. I didn't have the same role model that Snake had, so by the time I hit high school I learned that I had to get my own act together and make things happen on my own without a lot of outside help or inspiration. Three things that are important to me are: honesty, integrity, and passion. I have worked in the computer industry all my life, mostly product development, and have been in management for a long time. Right now I am "in transition" and considering a different path for my next job. I am married with 3 kids... all teenagers. The joy and the heartbreak. I had to laugh when I saw the question: "What other passions do you have?" That does start with the assumption that this Star Wars stuff is a passion. Sure is true for me! I enjoy a good mix of adrenaline and testosterone, so I play hockey, race motorcycles, scuba dive, and ski. I can also play a mean pipe organ, so that rounds out my artistic side. The 501st is new to me, but it sure has been great meeting its members (online at least) and I am looking forward to real meetings and events in the future.
  6. Geez... I am really lost here. I think I need to go back to basic training...
  7. Woah! I was surprised by the results of the poll with so many ANH votes. I just joined the Legion one month ago, so I have started with the standard FX. Being a noob without a lot of "hands on" talents, I will need lots of "armor parties" to get up the courage to attempt serious mods. But I can sure see how easy it is to "go deep" into this. I can see the intense satifsfaction you can get by building and trooping in accurate armor. My bucket is tipped towards you guys!!!!
  8. Ummm... I'm a wimp... how about me?
  9. Very cool! I can't wait!
  10. Hey, I LOVE the new death star background for this site! Great job!
  11. This response may be too late to make a difference, but I wanted to weigh in anyway. Both TK2802 and TK8020 make good points about body types. I for one, being 6'6," would look out of proportion with a smaller helmet. So I need to wear it (besides having a big head anyway), due to my body type. Also the durability point is important to consider for those of us who really plan serious duty in the armor. I appreciate the willingness to consider these things as the standards are finalized.
  12. Welcome, Trooper Jack! It sure is a great feeling, isn't it? Congrats on sticking to it and making it happen.
  13. LOL, same here, but for a different reason: it covers up my... ummmm... OLD face...
  14. Life pod? Who said anything about a life pod?
  15. DxMN, Bernard, I am getting to like you more and more. Not only do we vote the same, but our reason is the same... AND... you have the coolest avatar! TK in action... gotta love it!
  16. Well, then, I guess I am in the right place with my TK armor! (The clone armor still looks cool, but I am already old enough to "stick out" even in the TK group!) AND, thanks for introducing me to the "secret" icons!
  17. Well then, I am old enough to be your father... Hmmm... the Legion has a MINIMUM age for admission... I wonder if there is also a mandatory retirement age? Let's hope not... OK, that does it! I GOTTA get me that drinking face icon. That saluting one isn't bad either! Also, Bernard, my complements to ya for thinking about us poor slobs while you are sitting in a bar. Someday, maybe we'll have the chance to join ya!
  18. OK... my story is not much different than you guys... Had the exact same experience as TK2011 during the opening scene of ANH, but mine was in 77. Some time later, I saw a full set of TK armor on display and FOR SALE at a Sharper Image store in one of the big malls. I just stopped in my tracks and stared at it for the LONGEST time. But the display model was less than 6 feet tall, so I despaired once again being so tall, figuring that there were no "tall sizes" available. That and the $1000 price tag had me leaving the store just lusting. However, every now and then, I would check back on the Sharper Image web site to see if the price had declined at all (which it never did). Eventually, I gave up. Years later, someone I remotely knew bought a set of armor and sort of blogged his way through the assembly process. So then I knew that there was still possible to get armor, but it still seemed beyond me. After all, once I got it, where would I wear it? Then... one day... something "magic" happened... While trolling eBay again, I found a link to the 501st. Holy crap! There are THOUSANDS of guys who are into this. And there is an actual organization that provides opportunities to not only WEAR the armor, but actually do some good while wearing it. I was absolutely and totally hooked. I made a decision right then and there that I was going to become a trooper. My wife and kids think it is a form of mid-life crisis. LOL I heard one trooper call it "scoff and awe." Initially everyone "scoffs" at the idea: some dumb costume thing. But then they get a look of you transformed into a trooper: that is when the "scoff" turns into "awe." I love it EVERY time someone sees you for the first time. Nothing beats it. (As you all know...
  19. Dude, you must be reading my mind. I have had that same exact thought... but then I think I should will my armor to my son. He is already 6 feet tall and still growing,..
  20. Hey Stixx, I love that pic! But would the paint "rub off" on the inside of the armor? Would the pinching of armor pieces be more extreme? On a hot day, you might be able to see the sweat, which the UA can wick away. However here in Minnesota, this time of year, the only way to go is a black smoothie wet suit. Toasty!
  21. Then my order will be going in now! I wear a size XL. Does it come with the logo? PayPal is my next stop.
  22. What sizes are available? Are the four being made with or without the padding?
  23. You lucky dog! I hope someday I can introduce my wife to yours... Happy birthday!
  24. Holy crap! You guys are really good! Fast! Thorough! Helpfull! AND... you put up with wienies like me! WOW I am now prepared for my punishment... "Thank you, sir, may I have another?" Crap.... my freaking computer did it to me again... dropped the line just as I hit enter on the first post... didnt get it back up til just now... so I send the message again... seeing that the first one actually posted... oh man... am I gonna get it NOW... At this rate, no one will want to troop with me... "It's OK, now... just put one foot in front of the other... like this..." <trooper does a pratfall>
  25. Holy crap! You guys are just TOO good!!!! Sorry for being such a wienie. I mis-read the posting, thinking the Legion boards needed something different from this one. I am prepared for my punishment... "Thank you, sir; may I have another?"
