  1. Ah, nothing like the aroma of brand new, fresh out of the box CABoots. Pretty typical experience. Funny thing is, the smell didn't so much bother me even when they were new - although my boots are now 2+ years old, well-trooped, and my wife STILL hates the smell. Perhaps placing cedar blocks inside them when not in use will help.
  2. That's AA/SDS armor. It isn't a question of "good enough" - it is. The problem is availability in the U.S. - it isn't. Long story short, LFL and SDS got in a big legal fight over who owns the rights to stormtroopers. Part of the settlement was that SDS was prohibited from selling to U.S. based customers. Yes you could, provided you put it in the correct section (For Sale or Trade - Personal Items) ---------- However, pretty much everyone here knows Rubies is not the way to go and to get it up to our standards takes a tremendous amount of time/money/effort, so much so that you could order and assemble a much better kit for the same resources. Best bet for a Rubies sale is probably ebay.
  3. Troopermaster - or pretty much any of the UKG guys - know where to get the good stuff. I believe it's from "Seals Direct" but I don't know any other details.
  4. Tom, I know this is a thread about your new TE2 kit - but can we see some more photos of your house?
  5. Looks great! Here I thought the stock Hyperfirm was awesome, that takes it to another level. Quick question: One of the selling points on the hyperfirm is it's indestructibility - you could throw the thing out of a moving car and not break it. How is the required handling care affected by the mods?
  6. Umm, is he wearing an FX helmet? Otherwise, nice details.
  7. That's an AP kit if I'm not mistaken. Looks pretty good. A few items: 1. It would help to add the image tags to each photo such that the photos are visible w/o having to link offsite. 2. Need a interior-lit shot of your helmet showing the green lens color 3. It looks like you have the mic tips AP ships standard with his bucket. If so, those will need to be changed out for more accurate models. 4. Also need a close up of your blaster and from the phots on your Flickr page it looks like you're missing the counter. Real nice build and you wear it well. Looking forward to getting up to Philly for a troop sometime. BTW - your Fett absolutely ROCKS!!!
  8. All parties have had their say, I see little to be gained (but a lot to lose) by continuing this thread. This thread is now locked.
  9. Tom, thank you for responding to that PM in that manner. You set a fine example.
  10. Ladies and gents, I trust we'll be able to keep our emotions in check and have a civil, facts-based discussion. If not, it ends. RJ, I see by you're post count that you're new to our forum. How about an introduction in the New Member Introduction section?
  11. Congrats on the new purchase - AM is really starting to propagate through the ranks. BTW, your daughter is absolutely adorable!
  12. For the TD paint, go with Testors 1138 - it's basically a medium gray flat. Available in spray cans for large areas (like the tube) or small bottles for detail areas (like the ab buttons), both online and at most hobby shops.
  13. By "Tupperware armor" he is referring to "TupperwareTK", a.k.a. Deckard. He's a reseller of AM (and formerly FX) armor, one of most reputable around. The "TK" designator comes from the scene in ANH where the officer in charge of the docking bay just after the Millenium Falcon was seized and searched is quoted as saying over the comlink to one of the stormtrooper guards "TK-421, why aren't you at your post?" I don't really think it stands for anything in particular.
  14. That's quite the collection you have there.
  15. On behalf of the FISD staff, thanks for your service.
  16. Congratulations - like Paul said, the first of the next 100.
  17. I'd have to agree with Pablo. If you want as ANH/ESB accurate as possible, money is no object, you're willing to go onto a waiting list, and you are truly willing to dive in and take this on, TM is your best bet. You certainly have the right physique to make it work. A good way to go is to take a look at the build photos (we have build threads and trooping photos showing every type of armor), compare them to ESB screen stills (or simply take a close look at the trooper featured on the background of this forum), and judge for yourself. I have to know - how did you get a name like Anakin Skywalker? Did you legally change your name at some point?
  18. No luck required - easy pass. A thing of beauty, TM armor is.
  19. Congratulations, and well done. Anyone else see the poetry in the guy to own the first AM kit - the successor to the venerable FX - as both EIB #100 & the first AM EIB? Definitely the start of a new era IMO.
  20. Wow, that's some pretty major reconstructive surgery. I'm looking forward to seeing the end results.
  21. One left to go - who will it be? - The tension builds, the excitement virtually crackles in the air.
  22. Looks pretty good if you ask me. Besides the D-ring and modding the front sight, what other mods do you have in mind? You mentioned adding a aluminum scope rail and painting the ejection port. Anything else?
