    Woooooo!

    Haha, nice, way to go!
  2. Even that wording doesn't make it a hard fast requirement for no gap. The word 'should' implies that it is still allowable to have a gap, within reason. If no gaps were allowed, it would be "shall"
  3. wooden toothpick, genius, thanks!
  4. So I painted some tube stripes and the color bled a bit out of the masking I made, so the lines aren't super crisp. Should I wait for it to dry, then use a blade to scrape it back to clean it, or how do I clean this up? I understand photos rock, but I don't have any at this moment, so I hope you can envision what I am talking about.
  5. Well, the Miraluka are a race with vestigal eye sockets (sockets with no eyes). To my knowledge they are only Jedi, and never Sith. They always wear some sort of eye covering. Look them up and you might get some ideas on the look if you want to go that way. If you're not looking for 501st or 100% accurate, you could be a Miraluka who has gone to the dark side. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Miraluka
  6. Rob, awesome!
  7. --------- Incase anyone was interested, nice folding stocks, springs, bolts and so on.
  8. In you want to go true FISD, you're looking at the prices above. But for the costume department, you can do it all for $400 (all accessories and materials included) or so finding a cheap FX recast and doing that. You won't be happy with the suit once you get going, you will start to notice differences and quality problems with your FX recast that ultimately make you unhappy (if you want to really prop replicate or become a true part of the 501st). If you goal is an art project for Halloween, about $400 and some time invested watching auctions gets you in, but again, in the long run you won't be happy with the armor you get. I did it, I bought the FX armor and resold it once it was built for the above reasons, it didn't fit me and I just wasn't happy 100% with the end result, so I bought a TM suit. Working on building it now.
  9. Once I get back into the house next week I will check my TD again and report back. I"m fully confident I was just in a rush and didn't really give it a good enough trimmed look.
  10. I just took a quick look at it and put the caps and face plate on and wasn't sure if I needed to drop the gray area to a smaller size. It was a cursory glance with untrimmed pieces, so I may be way off the mark. I'm out this week so got half the armor trimmed so far but haven't had a chance to look at it again after trimming. I wasn't sure if the tube you supplied was already correctly measured, or might need trimming by me. So no information taken from anything, just a question from an uneducated builder (me) to someone who's going through the same deal.
  11. One problem that can arise with the standard ab/cod for exceptionally tall people like me (6'6") that the normal size just doesn't fit, it's is generally to short, cutting only helps is you cut and are allowed to shim. This however has the possibility of bringing the seam below the belt... which is a nono
  12. Tony, I saw a thread some weeks ago about cutting some pressure release slits in the ends so you can actually remove the end caps. This makes it so you can store your keys, ID and so on inside the det. I will be doing this with my TM TD as well. How long is your det over all? It seems the tube I got from Paul is a little long, did you have to cut it down a little?
  13. Now you found your box, sell me a vader!
  14. Anthony, You can meet centurion requirements with an additional shim (size doesn't matter) between the two pieces. As long as it sits nicely on both sides and is roughly the same coloration, you should be great. Some shading difference is to be expected since you're never guaranteed to get the same color unless you have shims from the same batch. Photos are always great though, helps to remove any questions of wording.
  15. For the end of the RT MOD belt I would cut out the bumps, shave about 3 inches off the ends to give it a more screen accurate length then reglue the covers next to the last box on the belt ends. This way you will only need one snap in the middle to be glued where you can't cut that one out.
  16. Yeah, at this point in the game, getting a suit under 1K (just the suit, not the accessories) delivered in time to build it just won't happen. Maybe you can buy a pre built suit, but they are pretty rare. You would have to have it shipped today or tomorrow and work nonstop on it once it arrives. Hey, don't let us discourage you, if you can get bumped up on the waiting list (most makers have a long waiting list) get it shipped and in hand, depending on how handy you are, you could potentially get it build before Halloween. It's all down to how crafty, prepared and how much time you have to put into it.
  17. Wait, Angry Birds: Starwars?
  18. The new proposals don't seem that hard to overcome, why would the new requirements make it not possible for you to get centurion in your RT-Mod?
  19. we have games?

  21. Please point us to the centurions who passed with misplaced thigh rivets, I personally can't believe it. This is one of the things Mathias looks at first I think. There may have been threads that had misplaced thigh packs, but they were told to fix it in a later post and had to post a new photo showing it was fixed. Maybe the photo wasn't updated in post 1 but it was in later posts.
  22. There is no need to find LFA photos, Mathias posted one for you. These suits are positioned correctly, As stated before, 8mm head is preferred as that seems to be the size that was used on screen. You can use split rivets or cap rivets. Basically the shaft of the rivet looks be be positioned approximately 10-12mm from each edge.
  23. Mike, great armor choice. Go to the ANH build threads section. The first post there is DarthAloha's RT-Mod build thread, it's a great one to start with, there are several others out there as well, so just start searching rt-mod in the build section and you'll get everything you need. Rt-Mod is an easy one to push to centurion if you want.
  24. Good deal! I"m looking at the same deal now... Original strapping brackets ordered as well!
