  1. In that case you may wish to start your build thread in the ANH area, this area is more for armor discussion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/
  2. Just seen this pre approval application with 850 armor and certainly does have a separate mount plate
  3. Nice work, just watch the cod, it's sticking forward, perhaps slightly tighter strapping Your armor is touching in a few spots and you may want to adjust, they will rub together and you will end up wearing the paint. Butt plate to top of thighs, biceps to forearms And watch the positioning of your belt pouches, large is on an angle You may also want to provide images showing your forearm box details are on the right sides, many forget that detail Once again nice work and good luck with approval
  4. Hello and welcome, looking forward to seeing your images. What armor / helmet make do you have?
  5. A fix for that would be cut out the TD mount and fill the opening with another piece of plastic, then fill the seams, not a lot of work for someone that knows what they are doing but still weird they made it molded in. No doubt Andrew will chime in with his thoughts.
  6. I didn't notice that in the image I posted further up, I wonder why they do it that way. Personally I think that's something that they should change, whether they would or not would be the question. We'll see what Andrew has to say but we've always known it's a separate piece since TFA so it's strange they wouldn't make it separate, I suppose it saves one piece of plastic.
  7. Hello and welcome aboard, nice finish on the helmet, I think you are correct it wouldn't pass for basic approval as is. Personally I like to purchase armor uncut, sometimes the extra material is needed for sizing and also scraps are good to use for ABS paste. You don't need a lot of tools, many use snips/scissors to trim and sandpaper to finish, I use a few dremel's (rotary tools) with different tips, I hate changing during trimming. You will need sandpaper, bondo (filler), spray putty, primer and paint as some pieces on a R1 need to be filled and painted. Take a look through the R1 build threads to get an idea of sizing and construction. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/196-rogue-one-build-threads/ Good luck hope to see a build thread form you soon
  8. Which make is that Mario, can't say I've seen that before. I think the issue there is we know the mount plate is separate and should be for basic so this maker may want to adjust as all the others supply separate. Looks like a soft pull also.
  9. Hero version and again a lot of the games use the 4 attachment points although not slotted screws Helmet does appear slightly different in a lot of the images, but to me would be I would say Stunt would match more closely
  10. Lots a lot of work, well done. With a lot of the game version they are slightly different, no curve, also mounted higher, it's all the artists faults
  11. Very nice work, looks amazing, you've done a great job there, been waiting for someone to actually do one of these versions, many have spoken about it over the years. Hope you don't mind some suggestions, just with a quick look there are a few things you could address, (if you wanted too), one thing that appears different to realistic versions is the thigh ammo strip, doesn't appear to have the lower corner curves. Handplates don't look to have the extra angle/bend but that's artists impressions, in fact is very similar to the Hero version hand plates. The left arm pouch appears to be a little narrower in the reference, with angled sides on the flap. Looks like they added some lines in the middle of the belt on the left side, not seen on the right though so again and artists impression. Incidentally the drop box looks rotated around, like you can see the inner back box, again artists impressions. The white rectangles on the sides of the ab could be a little narrower too. Try to remove the wrinkles from the pauldron One other thing which is just a little off is the chests ab lines, they do dogleg back, I think it's the curve of the line putting it off. This is a hard one as it's very hard with some things to truly emulate a cartoon image into realistic armor. Here's a bit of a comparison. Also are the two black triangles the same size, they look slightly different?. With the pauldron most of the references show a curve to the top, again this is an artists impression and hard to emulate in a realistic version, the LMO's may or may not comment. One other thing which is pretty standard across most Stormtrooper version is the fall of the tube stripes, from the top they fall forward, yours appear to be leaning backwards at the front, but that's generally a higher level issue. I have to ask too how you managed to soften the mid chest curve/angles, it's very subtle, looks like you have used a covering, foam perhaps?. Do you have any other reference material to go off? Once again great work on this, I hope you will be talking to our DL Andrew @Sly11 in regards to a CRL for this costume.
  12. References of the riot shield lights Artists impression from Star Wars Insider #166. A closer look Star Wars Destiny Bandai figure Visual dictionary
  13. That's your forum profile, you need the membership profile which you will find is this https://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=31179
  14. Could also be the position of the strapping of the thighs, may be angled inwards. Hopefully we'll be able to advise more once you get some images posted. Talking about images most of us use a free online image host, upload there then copy the links directly into your post, I like Imgur, great tutorial here
  15. For reference as this keeps coming up, although there may be some TFA style cods seen in TLJ the majority are TLJ and a different design to TFA, no inner curves on the sides and a more defined angle on the top sides as can be seen below with the reflections on the sides. Even Anovos changed their armor for the updated TLJ style, although they got the top of the forearms wrong, they did change helmet and cod. So question is will we be allowing TFA pieces in TLJ, I guess it's not too much of an issue for basic approval (except helmet of course) but there has to be some "normality/consistency" to CRL's and higher levels. TLJ specifically changed some pieces for that particular movie, but I would say due to needing more costumes they used some pieces left over from TFA. Personally I would think the "consistent" appearance should be used, example we don't allow "Mr No Stipes" in ANH version so should we allow other variations on appearance seen in the movies if they are not the consistent majority? As example, TFA detonator
  16. Hi there, some photos would help for feedback, do you have any gap between your legs and thighs. Could be your thighs have been assembled too large for your frame, I don't notice any rubbing on mine but I'm ideal height and weight for the costume, although I did with my First Order armor, I ended up adding some foam inside to centralize the things on my legs, I've got pretty skinny legs so this helped immensely.

Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD It is with great sadness that we share that Jeff Ritzman, TK-423, passed away on February 24th, 2021. Jeff was one of the founding members of Old Line Garrison, and served as the CO of the Maryland Squad when the territory was part of Empire City Garrison in 2001. While the territory was part of Garrison Carida from 2002-2003, Jeff was instrumental in the transition of Maryland Squad into Old Line Garrison as it is today. Jeff was a talented designer and created many of Maryland Squad and Old Line’s first logos that are still used. Additionally, Jeff had one of the most accurate Episode IV Vader costumes and was an avid prop collector of screen used items. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" On 23 July 2021, our dear friend and trooper Marc Lim (ID 70666) passed away. Marc fought bravely, and never gave up. He will be deeply missed by all of us in the Singapore Garrison, and also by those whose lives he touched. Your zest for life and ready smile will not be forgotten. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Greetings fellow members What a huge month July was, with our anniversary kicking off and the special edition coin run. Almost 1500 coins order from our membership making it one of FISD's largest coin runs based off the legion coin data base numbers. Hopefully in a few weeks these will be arriving in the mail, putting smiles on faces. We will continue to celebrate our anniversary through to June next year, and are currently working on what other special anniversary merch items we can bring you, so please keep an eye on the forums as this is where all the announcements and juicy information is posted. We have plenty of merch slots left to fill, and some really nice ideas for different items we hope you will love. All runs will definitely have interest threads posted in advance so make sure you visit the boards monthly and remove the possibility of missing out. August is here, and we continue through the year with great attendance on our forums and chatter in our social media channels so thank you to all who participate. August brings with it the start and ramping up of CRL work. This will continue through the next several months with varying degrees of change. Some of this work is simple maintenance of existing CRL's, the rest will be considerable overhauls and also new to legion CRL creation. There will be notification and grace periods for any amendments that may effect approval on some costumes, so those working on any that do undergo treatment will have the option to run with the current version or the update. Members Database update I have been working with the LWM team (Legion Web Masters) to assist in some bulk updates to clean up our data base. I don't expect any issue to arise from this work, and it should yield some cleaner results on how many members FISD have. These updates mostly took place at the start of the month so there is only minor adjustments now left to complete the task. Something new We have been working on an Idea/project since February this year, so keep an eye out for a post requesting good quality troop photos. I shall explain more when the post goes live in the Notifications section of the forums. Thanks again to all of you for keeping our forums busy, interesting and exciting. The team look forward to bringing you as much fun, information and improvements we can over the next 6 months. Lots more to come so stayed tuned. See you on the forums. In the latest episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, an early George Lucas idea is finally paid off with familiar Ralph McQuarrie armor designs for the Empire's first Stormtroopers. In the new episode, the Bad Batch receives a request from Captain Rex to rescue the Clone Commando known as Gregor who's been held against his will on the planet Daro. While there, Clone Force 99 gets their first real look at their Imperial replacements, the recruited Stormtroopers that make up the bulk of the Empire's forces. However, their armor looks to be in an early and almost prototype stage, resembling the earliest pieces of concept art created for the first Star Wars film. In the new episode, "Project War-Mantle" is underway, and the Empire is making preparations to leave Kamino after shutting down their operations and taking their research and lead scientists. Not only that, but they've been using highly skilled clone troopers such as Gregor to train their newly recruited Stormtroopers who've enlisted from all over the galaxy to replace the clones. However, Gregor is trying to escape his new Imperial masters, which is where the Bad Batch comes in to attempt an extraction. While using unused art and ideas from Lucas for the new Stormtrooper proto-armor is pretty fun, it's not the first time showrunner Dave Filoni has integrated Mcquarrie's work, as several elements in Star Wars Rebels were directly inspired by specific pieces. For example, the series' central planet of Lothal was based on several pieces, including one that depicted Lucas' vision for the Capital City of Alderaan. Not only that, but discarded designs for R2-D2 and Chewbacca made their way to becoming the core Rebels Chopper and Zeb, both crew members of The Ghost piloted by Hera Syndulla. In any case, using Mcquarrie's work in this latest episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is a great nod to the past while providing a brand new chapter that aids in the transition between the Republic's fall and the Empire's rise. Furthermore, it's more than likely that these proto-armored Stormtroopers will be seen again, seeing as how the Bad Batch's Hunter was captured himself by the episode's end. As a result, it's more than likely that a new rescue mission will be staged as the new Star Wars animated series reaches its finale on Disney+ Story from Screenrant Concept Data sheet Currently (as of 5th August 2021) there are 31,911 approved costumes in the legion, out of these homed under FISD there are 5,783. Interestingly the larger the legion costume totals grows the smaller amount of TK's there are with now only 18.12% of all approved 501st costumes. Attention all Imperial citizens of the FISD We have been working on a project which has been under discussion since the start of this term and are preparing to move forward with this initiative. It will form part of our 15th anniversary celebrations and part of detachment history. We can;t announce exactly what it is as yet, but we are sure you will love it. We want your troop photos from around the world. Local troops, Cons, Celebration etc. If you are a TK and 501st approved, you can submit photos. Photos of TK's both OT and First Order, any of the costumes in our CRL to be honest. Can be a single trooper but group photos are very welcome. What you consider you best troop photos or most memorable can add more meaning to this project so select carefully. Ultimately we are after High quality or resolution photos, but for this thread, you need simply only add a lower res version using Imgur or other photo sharing 3d party services. Just make sure you have a good version to supply for the project if requested . Based on how many submission we receive, the final selection will be made by the staff. We are looking for the best and most varied photos old and new. If selected, you will receive a PM from myself or one of the staff requesting you email, share the high res version image (email will be supplied in the PM) Google doc or other sharing services can be used. What info do I need to supply with my image post? You may post as many photos as you like. Date or year the photo was taken and location. (state or country etc) Photographer name if known for each photo. Garrison/Squad/Fire team name. Photos must contain TK's predominantly, we are Stormtroopers after all. Both old and new photos are welcome, history is a great thing specially in our anniversary year and we can't wait to reveal what this is all about in the coming months. If you have any other questions, please ask in this thread to benefit others. Looking forward to seeing some awesome Troopers on assignment. 18. Thigh lower ridges can be difficult if you don't align from the get go, I've had to remove the cover strips on a couple that have moved while drying, hence we always recommend E6000 as it can be removed. For excess glue I find using off cuts of coverstrip ABS works well, just use the corner and push along the sides of the coverstrip on the thigh, it will dull after some use so I just cut the end and keep going. E6000 does like sticking to tape, as you have found
  19. You may want to start a build thread in the HWT section, you may get more response as this thread is after all a pre-approval thread and some may not visit it
  20. Hello and welcome aboard, looking forward to seeing your build, as there is not CRL at this stage document as much reference material as you can and keep that hand in case needed. Good luck
  21. Hello and welcome aboard, looking forward to seeing some big brown boxes photos soon. Make sure you check out the CRL's (costume reference library) Also Gallery sections can be a reference source Good luck
  22. A comparison of the TD's .Would also need to add the info about the black slot on top of the TD for basic, could be painted, decal or cut out with black pipe behind.
  23. Allow for the anlge of the end of the detonator to end cap on the image, it's @ 1/8 of the length of the detonator, no idea what an inch/cm measurement would be until someone could get their hands on one. KB's TD
  24. To me the blaster appears satin black in this LFL display anyway, which is what I've been using. I think you will find matt gives a flat, lighter black appearance with no shine but satan does give some shin depending on lighting
  25. KB props used to supply ABS detonators and he may very well be able to supply again so an inner tube/end cap could be used. 850 armorworks used to have an ABS detonator, no idea what they currently supply but no reason they couldn't Jim's I haven't had one in front of me but going off other pieces I have seen should be able to be modified, it is a molded one piece. Separation between detonator and backplate would be a little more challenging. Walt's I haven't seen any images of what he supplies as yet. Anovos, ok I know they are no longer supplying but there are a lot of kits out there, which could be converted Again this comes down to my earlier question, do we make CRL's to fit suppliers or screen accuracy and do we need to update suppliers on CRL needs so they may be able to change how they produce some pieces and supply pieces in future. I wonder how many suppliers make the different TLJ helmet clips, I haven't researched that.
