I just caught a design flaw. You made it too small. You add a new costume every month. Where are you going to fit them all?
-
I think most sellers provide the diamond knee plate and the ab buttons so you can go sandy. As far as the armor itself goes there really isn't too many differences between a TK and a sandtrooper besides those two items. You will also have to build a backpack and make it look sandy. But the backpack you will have to get from other vendors and I'm sure the MEPD will be able to point you in the right direction.

Info on TKArmour.com vendor?
starsaber25 replied to wh1plash's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Hopefully one day this mystery will be solved. There are a few websites that have popped up over the last year or so that have been questionable. Tkarmour has certainly gained notariety for their dancing stormtroopers. And then with the buy one get one deal. But then there is also stormtroopercity who has what appears to be the same armor and is also buy one get one. Both of these guys come onto FISD randomly and try and push their product. When the community asks them one simple question of proof of their molds, they again disappear and never produce. So I certainly agree with Wyatt that when it comes down to recommendations they haven't earned any trust or confidence to have their armor recommended. David and the other stormtroopercity guy may be the nicest guys in the world but when it comes down to clarity and the appearance of not hiding behind anything, they are certainly lacking in that department. Now again, when it comes down to pricing these deals are hard to argue with. Every person has the right to spend their money how they see fit. And Mike has made the jump and I guess we shall see if the armor is approvable in due time. -
Well if you ask Mike about it he doesn't necessarily care that he isn't on the vetted armor list. But I guess the reason he isn't on it is because his armor is casted from CAP armor. There are a lot of questions as to the permissions to cast this armor. Many people believe that Chris (CAP) recasted TE2 and never had permission to do so. ATA is the only one who has gotten vetted from casting this armor. However Mike has done an exceptional job at improving his molds and should still be considered.

Hi Stephen. It is very easy to switch back and forth between ANH and ESB. I first built an ANH set and then I built the parts for ESB. I mostly troop in my ANH version but sometimes you just feel like switching it up. Like this weekend I've already made up my mind to go ESB at my troop. I just keep my ESB parts in my bin besides the helmet.

Hi Tony. As Randy mentioned check in with RS. Your other UK options are Troopermaster who you can PM on the boards and check in with The Shed of Glittering Delights on Facebook. Maybe Andy offers assembled suits. But you really need to check in with the U.K. Garrison. They will point you in the right direction.

Seeking advice for basic approval
starsaber25 replied to TK 41576's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey Mike. You did a good job with this set of armor. While I don't see anything that should not allow you to gain basic approval it is obviously up to your GML. However, there are a couple of things that stand out to me. One is your forearms appear to be rotated back too much. When you hold your arms at the side you should see the coverstrip and not the inside of the forearm. It could just be the photos but I just wanted to point that out. The second thing for me is your thigh ammo pack. It should be connected in the upper corner of the ammo pack on both sides. I would suggest taking a look at some other build threads and maybe trimming it a little more if you can. Obviously don't do it if you can't reasonably get it off because I still don't think it should affect your approval. Good luck! -
TM armour vs MTK armour
starsaber25 replied to marian_melinte01's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Yes I think that TM will fir you better with the XL shins. I have a TM helmet and MTK armor. I'm 5'8" and I can't imagine MTK would fit much more then a couple inches taller then me. -
Mark this is beautiful! Nice work!

Hey Robert. I did have a chin strap in my bucket but I ended up taking it out. I feel that there really isn't much of a need for it. I know I haven't been in any live action troops where I get shot by a blaster and thrown in the air, do a dipsy do, and land on my back yet. I guess then you would need it. Maybe another member who has been attacked by rebel scum can elaborate more.

As for question #2 I velcroed my amp in my chest plate. It's worked well for me so far.

Congrats Ron! Its unfortunate that a bad mistake that many years ago has had a lasting impact. I am happy to hear that you took another chance and started over again. The vetted list is comprised of vendors who have a great reputation. It is a smart move that you stuck to that list. AM2 is a very nice kit and I'm sure you will be very happy with it. Have fun with your armor when it arrives!

Where, What and Whom To Avoid When Buying
starsaber25 replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Hi Asif. I would have to urge you to look elsewhere. You say yourself that you are worried about your skills to trim and put a kit together. You also say that you know an SDS kit would need to have modifications done to make it 501st approved which is absolutely true. So why wouldn't you look into RS props or Troopermaster since you are in the UK? Both are far superior kits and both can come assembled and would most likely be 501st approvable upon arrival. -
Mysterious Blue Stains [AP armor]
starsaber25 replied to SpiceCredits's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Wow so I have one of those "stains" on one of my MTK shoulder bells and it was driving me crazy for a while. Had no idea where it came from. Its like a 3" line on the outside of my shoulder bell. Now I just look at it, get annoyed and just troop anyway. I figured I would just eventually get around to replacing it. But now thinking about it, maybe it does come from the Hyperfirm? I sometimes put it in my bin with the armor and not in the tray in my stanley box. Maybe this could be it? I don't wrap the hyperfirm and I just throw it in the bin like a dummy. The only other things I have in there besides armor is my undersuit and neckseal. But those are always in the tray and don't touch the armor. Interesting... -
That is sweet Paul. Man I can't wait to one day have my "office." My stuff always seems to find its way into a closet or a drawer.
-
Hi Ron. I would stay clear of that site. You are buying a set of an older style armor. You are much better off buying from a vendor that has good reviews and is listed as a trusted and reputable vendor. Take a look at the getting started thread and you will find a ton of info there.

Screen accurate ANH stunt strapping system
starsaber25 replied to bmth chris's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
Go with mr no stripes -
And he is ultimately putting together a sandtrooper but there are only a few differences between a TD and an ESB TK assembly.
-
Hey Steve. Check out trooperbay.com and Mike has some excellent videos on there. Now they are just a guide and you can assemble your armor how you would like to but it certainly is very handy seeing a good quality video on armor assembly.

Hey Louis. At your height and weight I would say that you should stay away from RT-MOD, AM, and Anovos if you are looking for the least amount of work to go EIB and Centurion. RT and AM are for larger troopers and Anovos you will have to modify the helmet a little and replace a couple of items. But the other armors listed in the getting started thread should not be too much of an issue for you. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/

any good or should i walk away?
starsaber25 replied to mauvia's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
So coming back to this thread and reading more then I did this morning, the guys right above are correct PIM. You really should consider AM or RT-Mod. While they don't have a "store" as you have mentioned they are legit sellers of armor and there is no issues with them whatsoever. Those kits are made specifically for the larger trooper in mind. While they are not the same size as a screen derived armor set, they look just as good in most circumstances because it is all proportional. If you get a screen derived set of armor at your size it may not ever look as good as these two on your body size even though they are screen derived. -

starsaber25 replied to mauvia's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Hi PIM. Original Stormtrooper isn't the original sculptor of the stormtrooper. That was done by Liz Moore and Brian Muir. Original Stormtrooper vacuum formed the suits for the movie. He is misleading people. RS props is casted from an original ANH set of armor and is far superior to the other. The original Stormtrooper will require extra work to get it 501st Approved. Please refer to the getting started threads. And welcome to FISD!
