  1. Nice gift!
  2. No worries gloss is fine, if you want to change it just paint over it. Just as long as it's the same kind of paint. Just make sure the paint is dry before recoating
  3. I could not find satin black so I mixed gloss and flat.
  4. Gloss black is good I have used it, I just recently tried satin and was really impressed with how it looks,
  5. That's a cool mod on the thighs, you opened up the inside of the leg instead of the back. Looks really nice and proportional.
  6. The helmet looks good are you going to paint the vocoder satin black. I kinda know what you mean, by reaching the end of the build. You just look foreward to the next one.
  7. The new split rivets look much better.
  8. Nice work! You could use rivets to mount the snaps to the plastic belt, thats how I make snap plates.
  9. Allrighty then, I will have to try it.
  10. Glad you are working on this. I have the amp and icomm, but have hesitated in buying a wireless mic because of all the problems I hear about. You say your setup works, I may have to give it a shot. I did notice that the mic unit has to sit low in the back of the helmet to work, does this affect the comfert of the helmet and is it visable from the outside?
  11. Tom, Thanks.. looking foreward to the new skin.
  12. Still no joy!
  13. The side bar CRL's still won't work, is anyone else having this issue. I guess I could go to the other site.
  14. I also used them on a ata kit. Had to heat them up and then they fit perfect.
  15. David, it's not to often that you see a TE2 in kit form. I am glad you posted pix, enjoy the build.
  16. Jeez.. you made your own neckseal, that's pretty awesome! I bought a holster from Vern and am really happy with it.
  17. I am not very good at art brush identification, It may be a filbert. It's a flat brush but the tip is rounded.
  18. Sure no problem! If you have a michaels craft store near by, pickup some brushes there if you have not already. They have a combo pack ,and the brush that works really well for painting the vocoder.. I think it's called a verdan brush. I used it to paint most of the details because it's easy to controll and paint straight lines. The brush has a rounded tip instead of a flat one.
  19. Look at this site it has alot of good close-ups. I found it very helpfull. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/original-ESB-stormtrooper-armor-helmets.htm
  20. Free handing the tube stripes, your fearless, Looks good. I have not tried that yet, but I am tempted.
  21. Hi Grant, There is a waiting list for ata armor so I would get on the list. You will have plenty of time to get everything together that is needed.
  22. The helmet kit comes with everthing you need to assemble it except paint and decals. All the scews should be in the bag with the mic tips. The larger screws are used in place of rivets that way you can make ajustments if needed.
  23. There a alot of pix of the suits used in the movie all over this site, but you will have to find them. Just use the search feature. Look at tk300 site, there are quite a few closeups of the suits in the stormtrooper reference section. http://www.tonybarne....com/index.html
  24. I like to use pop rivets too. Drill a 1/8" hole thru the plastic and countersink one side with a 1/2" drill bit, that way the rivet will be flush with the surface. I just use the xtra plastic that came with the kit to make finshing strips. Here are some pix
  25. Also when you are putting the stencils on ,take your time and make sure you press around the edges good. When I painted mine one side took a while to get the stencil to lay down smooth. You will probibly get some small specs of paint that seaped under the stencil, but the next day when the paint is dry you can remove these with a toothpick.
