  1. My favorite reference for TX armor was 'Baby Vader'.
  2. My pair arrived and fit nicely, especially after I removed the foam that was packed inside the boots.
  3. Beware of little ones ... especially if they attach themselves to your legs.
  4. I just came upon this one. Why be a stormtrooper if you're a girl? I can't always follow the herd nor what other people think is the correct role for a female. I am not exactly the Princess Leia type. Me as Leia would be, if not scary, then quite unsightly. I have always liked the stormtroopers. At 5'9", I am not that much shorter than the other TKs. It does not bother me that folks think I may be a guy. I work in a male dominated industry, and until recently, I played a contact sport (co-ed ice hockey - goalie). So no fuss in my book. A lot of times it's the kids who catch on the TK is not a guy. It does not appear to bother them. I just put on the armor, go out and have fun.

    FISD stickers?

I have a couple left. PM me.
  6. Looking good. I hope to get some time in with mine this week.
  7. You guys are fantastic! Thank you all for the advice. I have printed the advice and will incorporate it all into my next efforts. I paint in the backyard after 6:30 pm. The helmet sits on a paper towel holder which in turn sits on a table. Helmet and paper towel holder go into the garage an hour or so after painting. I am now thinking about putting the TE2 on hold after sanding it. I am also working on a MRCE helmet and will use that one as the painting lesson. It's finally ready to be primed. The TE2 is destined for TD. Again, thank you.
  8. Always enjoy reading your posts. Having been self employed at one time, I can totally relate. Take care of yourself and stop by from time to time and let us know how you are doing. With or without armor, you are one of us.
  9. Being the far from great painter that I am, I noticed tonight that it is both.
  10. I could not get a good picture of the problem. Just imagine a little of little beads attached to the helmet. Quite distressing.
  11. Thanks for the advice about pm to Mike. I will do that when I get home. I will also take pictures of the helmet tonight and post.
  12. I finally found time to prime my TE2 helmet. Priming went well. I figured it was time to paint. I am using Rustoleum, a brand new can. I sprayed the first coat of white paint on it and ... my helmet is now furry looking. It looks like styrofoam attacked it (or an Ewok) and feels like sandpaper. I am not real knowledgeable about paint. I noticed the paint was not coming out of the can evenly. I had shaken it for at least one minute before use. Also some black specks was spraying out of the nozzle. I know I need to sand it down. Any advice on the type/grit of sandpaper to use and how to prevent this from happening again will be greatly appreciated.
  13. You might want to try heavy duty snaps from Home Depot or Orchards.
  14. Let me know what you need. I will dig into my spare change.
  15. Donation to be sent later this evening. Several months ago I used the email address contained in the confirmation email to send an additional subscription.
  16. I used goo gone and white putty knives. Went through two of the putty knives and most of a small container of goo gone.
  17. I had log in troubles yesterday. Solved today. I was afraid my terrible computer skills were being showcased again.
  18. I was on vacation while working on the TE2 and now I am back to work. I tend to put in 10 to 12 hour work days. So heaven knows when I will finish. <_< Congrats on Elite ESB status being granted.
  19. Darrel; I second what Stomper and jgarrettg wrote. You are not a bad person. Unfortunately in mainstream American society, we have no formally recognized grieving period or ritual. So we are left to go through this journey with no realization of what it is all about. You are going through the natural stages of grief. The grieving process involves a rollercoaster ride of emotions. You will heal in your own time. Do not force the healing to go faster than your brain can handle. Your brain will let you know when it is ready for the next step and it will take you there. Half the time you will not even realize you have reached a new step until you look back to where you have been. As you progress, you will be able to see your emotions clearer. You are being hard on yourself. Do not do that. Be patient. Time + Patience = Healing. Let us know how you are doing. Sharing the loss is a form of celebrating the life of the individual for whom we morn.
  20. My FX helmet is way too large so I am slowly cannabalizing it for parts. I use a AFX/GT helmet now which fits so much better. I bought the MRCE to replace the FX, but was way to nervous to deal with it. Then I ordered a TE2. So now I am working on both. One will be for a TD kit. As I understand it, if I want to go Elite or MEPD deployed, the AFX/GT helmet is not acceptable.
