  1. I may just not know enough about gaming, this game, skins etc to have a solid opinion either way. What I do know is that every time I see a TKC the drop boxes are white. That makes me think we should change the CRL to make them white unless someone has a stronger evidence based opinion. -Eric
  2. A fine question. There are talks in progress. It will be an uphill battle for sure. Baby steps to the elevator Bob. -Eric
  3. This question came up again recently with the LMO team. Did anyone ever find the renders that show gray drop boxes? If so I'm willing to entertain wording that allows both gray and white drop boxes. -Eric
  4. Aloha all, Based on voting done nearly a year ago the TK CRLs have been changed slightly. Here is an overview of what is different: BELT ANH Stunt, ANH Hero, ESB, HWT, Deathtrooper: Vinyl or plastic belts are no longer allowable for basic 501st approval. The belt must be canvas. The width specification has been changed as well. "The soft belt proper is made of canvas, or material with a canvas covering. Size must be 2.75” (70 mm) to 3.25”(83 mm) wide and not wider than the plastic portion of the belt. The color is be white to off-white." [*]ROTJ, INC, TKC, SKY: Vinyl or plastic belts are no longer allowable for basic 501st approval. The belt must be nylon. The width specification has been changed as well. "The soft belt proper is tightly woven nylon/cordura like/style material or material with a tightly woven nylon/cordura like/style covering. Size must be 2.25" (57mm) to 2.5" (64mm) wide. The color is to be white to off-white." HOLSTER ESB: New basic level wording specifies that the holster must be on the right side and looped on belt. "Holster is worn on right side of belt. Holster will be made of completely black leather or leather-like material and be worn on the right and affixed via two black loops over the belt (no fasteners)." [*]INC, TKC, SKY, HWT: Holsters are no longer allowed at the base level for these costumes. "Holster must be omitted from this costume." [*]Deathtrooper: Added wording to match ANH belt specifications but still kept as an optional accessory. "Holster may be omitted from the costume. If a holster is worn, it will be made of black leather or leather-like material. Worn on the left side of belt and be attached from behind, with no loops covering the outside of the belt. The holster will be affixed with two fasteners at the bottom of the belt instead of none or four. The fasteners may be rivets, snaps, or Chicago screws." KIDNEY & BUTT PLATE ANH Stunt, ANH Hero, ESB, HWT, Deathtrooper: A one piece kidney/butt is no longer allowable at the base level. "A separate kidney plate shall be present, split from the butt plate." [*]ROTJ, INC, TKC, SKY: These costumes must have a one piece kidney/butt. "A separate kidney/butt plate is not allowed - the kidney and butt plate shall be combined/fused to a single plate/one piece." WHITE U-TRIM ROTJ, INC, TKC, SKY: The white U-trim requirement has been moved from EIB to the base level for torso parts. "A white flexible U shaped gasket or molded lip shall be present around all edges." AB PLATE BUTTONS ROTJ, INC, TKC, SKY: The inverted ab bottons have been moved from EIB to base level approval. "The ab plate has a button area that matches the color pattern shown (3 dark blue + 6 charcoal grey or black); buttons are approximately 7/16" (11mm) in diameter. The three dark blue buttons will be the three buttons closest to the belt. Ab plate button detail shall be inverted compared to ANH/ESB." THERMAL DETONATOR ANH Stunt, ANH Hero, ESB: Metal clips are now part of the base requirement. The size of the detonator and orientation of the control panel are now specified. "(A.K.A. O2 canister) attaches to the center back of the belt. This is an all gray cylinder without silver stickers or silver paint. The cylinder is between 2” (50mm) and 2.68"(68mm) in diameter with white end caps on each end. The white control panel pad faces upwards, with controls/round washer style detail closest to the right end cap. The total length should be approximately 7.50" (190.5mm). The thermal detonator shall be attached via metal or metallic-appearing clips approximately 1" (25mm) wide." [*]ROTJ: Metal clips are now part of the base requirement. 5. For someone who prefers brevity... that's a lot of posts. I suppose an economy of words does not always translate to fewer posts. Nicely done Swede... now shut up already -Eric
  6. +1 Having it in your chest plate facing out does not diminish the awesome effect of a TK with a voice. -Eric
  7. Nope. The aker is quite loud
  8. I find that using the nylon strap and lowering down to the top of the ab reduces feedback. I didn't have much luck with it in the chest. Having it sit at the the top of the ab allows me to reach in and dial the volume more easily than bending my arm to get behind my chest plate. YMMV. -Eric
  9. Looking good trooper. Should be an easy one for the DO. -Eric
  10. Congrats man! Now get out there and start trooping your centurion butt plate off. -Eric
  11. Crow, Looking good so far... They really seem to have the basic original shape. but I'll let the DO and the armorers weight in with a more detailed opinion. There are three little things that seem different, but they're minor. First is that the vertical seam under the elastic is more centered on the elastic in the original boots. Second the elastic type is different (again very minor.) And last is the U shape of the bottom of the elastic doesn't quite match.... or it could be the way the boot sits. I wouldn't mind seeing a top down view as well. Regardless... I think you have a totally serviceable boot. Aloha, -Eric
  12. I agree with Karin. The general sentiment around here is to stay away from these guys. If you want high screen accuracy and you're the right size I would suggest either RS Props or TM. You'll get a quality product, a total lack of buyers remorse, better service, and better bang for your buck. -Eric
  13. I think I did it with a high fever from bed. I'm a big chrome fan myself because I have it sync'd to all my various devices. Firefox is a great choice too. -Eric
  14. I took down the staff list until I had a chance to update it. It is only visible to admins at the moment. -Eric
  15. I had witty responses but they only showed how much that rings true. -Eric
  16. Congrats firemakingtrooper Head over and request access to the detachment/501st areas here. Aloha, -Eric
  17. I didn't do it! I haven't noticed any PMs disappearing... in fact they keep piling up. -Eric
  18. You know your weapon is big when you can barely get the whole thing in the photo. Clamps... I think you should buy some TD parts and rock this: -Eric
  19. Wow Billy. Incredible. I don't even want to know where you pulled that out of. -Eric
  20. Silly is a good word for it. Nit picking the size range of the canvas belt is somewhat the least our requirements problems right now. Dictating the exact width of the belt is also silly. As Tray points out not all plastic belts are screen derived and/or the same height. However, mentioning in the CRL that the canvas belt should also be smaller than the ammo belt would make sense to me. We're months away from voting on CRL changes but please keep the width issue in the back of your minds. We can determine if its worth our time to bring to the LMOs then. -Eric
  21. Aloha kakou, On this first day (at least it still is here in Hawaii) as the 1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment's DL please allow me to introduce you to the staff that will keep this place humming along in 2013. Executive Officer: LadyInWhite - Ingrid Moon (TK 6818) Deployment Officer: Locitus - Mathias Rodstedt (TK 2959) Provost Marshall: captsafe66 - Mark Ryner (TK 4584) Membership Officer: novatie - A.C. Meyers (TK 5597) Merchandise Officer: TK4205 - Wyatt (TK 4205) FISD Armorers: Funkytrigger - Phil Gregory (TK 3796) / Carbonitekid - Matt Sparling (TK 2388) FISD Ambassador: Chookaboom - Charles B Bowes (TK 25267) Detachment Founder: Daetrin - Paul Hoeffer (TK 8020) Webmaster/Graphic Artist: Dmian - Damian Vila (TK 7388) Webmaster: svache - Jeroen Joosten (TK 80866) Server & Forum Admin: Locitus - Mathias Rodstedt (TK 2959) Backup Server Admin: Daetrin - Paul Hoeffer (TK 8020) Backup Forum Admin: SuperTrooper - Terrell Reber (TK 1787) tkrestonva (Brian Robinson) and Roguetrooper (Tom Gardner) will remain on staff. Their duties are still TBD. I will be writing job descriptions and updating the staff page in the coming days. In the mean time you may notice two new titles in the mix. "FISD Ambassador and "FISD Armorer" Our attache program is in need of staff members to formalize the program into something other than a just a fancy title. The FISD Ambassador is the chief attache (and self proclaimed detachment wal-mart greeter) Jointly with our membership officer novatie, Dr. Clampenstein has agreed to lead the attache charge. What is an Armorer you ask? I brought back the idea of an armorer to fulfill two duties. The first and obvious one is to help people with their armor builds in a more official capacity. The second, and more importantly, is to take ownership of the FISD tutorials. After job descriptions are written I'll be setting project goals for all the staff including myself. After the goals are agreed upon I will publish a list of the detachement staff's priorities so everyone knows what we're working on. Thanks! -Eric
  22. That's brilliant. Truthtastic! -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Shiny gold goodness! I've always thought it'd be fun to be 3po... but being Vader sized I'm made to suffer. It's my lot in life. -Eric
